    Say what? Kreg Draw Slide JIG? I installed some sliding drawers in my kitchen about 1985 and they were a pain. Of course we didn't have KZread then and I had to wing it, but my Dad was impressed with what I did. My mother-in-law wanted me to do her kitchen and I told her "NO!". I'm sure your video will come in handy in the future and I'll teach my daughter and grand kids how to do it. Thanks Much!

    @@ForestToFarm Dear Terry, Thank you very much for your courteous & hearted reply. If anything what your videos show is that the pair of you go about doing things as well prepared as possible with considering every possible eventualities. A great deal of attention is paid to preparation & final execution. You both are very thorough in your work & very methodical. What more could one possibly expect when a perfect job is what is sought after in the first place??? There is nothing more embarrassing ( whether it comes from Honourable wife or anyone else for that matter) being told the job you did requires your attention yet again. Murphy's law being what it is, it will always be at a time least convenient for you to attend your recall which could have been avoided if the job had taken a bit more preparation &/ execution. I think your philosophy is the only good insurance that you've taken everything into consideration & are less likely to return to it for correction ( my kind of work ethic). Well done once again. Kind regards.

    One of the best side mount videos out there. Sir, you install the mounts with a countertop already installed. Everyone else cheats and no countertop installed. Making it look easy.. I do have a question, for a bottom drawer, what is your recommendation to install the mounts. Can't use the Kreg there. I installed Blum undermount with the Kreg at my house and the bottom drawer was tough. The Kreg tool was worth every penny. Thanks

    You’re welcome. Thanks for the kind words. Sorry but we only put drawers at the top. Whenever we finally get to building our houses we will have all drawers and no doors so guess we will have to figure it out then ha ha. Terry

    When I make my drawer front and back pieces I take two inches off the opening. Half inch for each slide and a half inch for the half inch plywood. I find that the little bit play that the undersized plywood gives me makes the drawers operate very smooth. I've built two kitchens and many vanities this same way and the drawers turn out perfect. Nice demonstration on the kreg jig, just picked one up for my current kitchen project.

  • @ForestToFarm

    @ForestToFarm

    Sorry for the delayed response. Off hand maybe you could make a spacer equal to the gap between the slide and cabinet side at the front and place it at the rear while installing the drawer slide? Good luck!! Thanks for watching. Terry

    Very soon. Yes this kitchen has been a long project. Lots of new ground covered for us. It has given us new skills to use when building our houses. Life has gotten in the way multiple times in the last several months but I think we are finally going to get to start working on Brian's house and then ours. Believe me its where we want to be but its just taking a lot longer than we would have wanted to get there. Its all going to be worth the time and efforts when we do get there. Thanks on the kitchen comment. We are very pleased with how things have turned out. Terry

    I'm replacing drawer slides on older cabinets with soft close slides (rear bracket mount) and the slides rubbed a grove down both sides of the drawer after install. Is there a correct way to solve my clearance issue? The slides require a 1/2" on each side, I have that when measuring the inside of the face frame, but the outer part of the slides still rub the drawer box making it hard to close/operate. Should I plane the drawer sides a little? Can I sand the inside of the face frame on each side?

  • @ForestToFarm

    @ForestToFarm

    Tough question since I can’t see it but the first thing that cones to mind is do you have those slides properly mounted as in line with the drawer width? They may be off a little which could cause them to drag or appear to rub. They could be to close or to wide or shifted left or right. Hope this helps. We do not have a lot of experience replacing older slides on older cabinets. Terry
