32:25 - In various asian countries seniority is highly respected. Here, if someone's a little older than you they can be called certain names (kind of like titles). Hyung, gege, aya, oniichan, kuya, manong (korean, mandarin chinese, fukien chinese, japanese, tagalog, ilocano respectively) are all words that translate to "older brother" which is what you call someone a little bit older than you without being too formal (even if you're not related). So when Saeko is called oneesan (big sister), it means "i don't want to be formal, but I still want to show i respect you the same level i would an older sister". It's a nice little formal show of affection :). So if you're teaching people younger than you by a small bit, they can call you big sister :D. BTW, if i'm recalling right Miyagi (where Karasuno is) is around a six hour drive from Tokyo I believe. Which explains why they got there around late afternoon. Warning for the next episode, things get a bit physical so you may want to get ready for it.

For me Yachi-chan really represents a lot of Haikyuu watchers. Hasn't found their passion in life yet, has a lot of anxiety and yearns to find something to be passionate about too. The show's answer to that is "that's totally fine, just try something even if it's just from curiosity". Also Yachi is totally non-Haikyuu watchers going like "what's a spike?" while Karasuno is S2 Haikyuu watchers going JOIN USSSS it'S So Gud.

You can. Will you play as good as them? Most likely not, they were born with incredible bodies, supreme passion and they did it their whole lives (up to the point that the anime shows). But comparing yourself to others all the time is the easiest way to never be happy or feel accomplished. You should only compare to your older self, if you improved, that's enough, and you all of the rights to feel happy about it. If anything, using the guys as reference points feels great because you will basically never reach a point where you ask "what now?" and feel like you're plateau-ing. TL;DR : You can play and feel good about it.

Victoria, a bit of information about the timeline: There are two tournaments, Summer Interhigh and Spring Nationals. Season 1 was focused on the prefectural qualifiers to the Summer Interhigh, which took place in early June. About a month has passed now. They're just participating in practice matches with some Tokyo schools, including Nekoma and Fukurodani (Hey hey hey boy's school). They are preparing for the Spring Nationals qualifiers. There are two rounds of qualifiers: preliminary rounds, which the top 8 schools from Summer Interhigh prelims get a bye from. Karasuno lost to Seijoh in the round of 16, so they need to participate in this qualifiers, but the 8 losers in the round of 16 get a bye in the first round. The final 8 teams from this qualifiers will join the top 8 teams from Summer Interhigh prelims in the final rounds of Spring Nationals qualifiers. The preliminary rounds takes place in Early August and the final rounds takes place in late October. Season 2 will focus on the Spring Nationals qualifiers. The Summer Interhigh Tournament takes place in early August and Spring Nationals Tournament takes place in early January.

I also really love the little connections you make to your personal experience. It's a sweet addition hearing those stories.

"Is Daichi really that good?" I've never been more offended for a fictional character before in my life 🤣. All jokes aside, he is a Wing Spiker but he specifically excels at defense. You saw in season 1 that he and Nishinoya are the only ones who can consistently receive, especially against Super Serves like Oikawa. And you'll definitely see later on that he is the Captain of this team for a reason

Lol......I got all up in my feelings when Victoria said that! No one is allowed to disrespect Daichi. Because he isn’t a flashy player he is forgotten and underestimated. Victoria...just like everyone is too distracted by cute boys (Kageyama and Hinata) doing flashy moves. But she’ll learn soon how wrong she was making that statement.

My name is Meg, I’m 20 years old And my reason to loving Haikyuu is that the people who make these sports anime always dedicate themselves to picture real sport moves and how to support the players, with a bit of a mix of their family life and their struggles. I love how they depict the characters as proper humans that go through problems that regular people go through as well as what is going through their head when they preform in the sports that they love. Love your reactions and how you express your love for the anime and it’s characters ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊

How’d you all feel about the line when hinata says “do you need a reason to not want to lose” and kageyama relating it to hunger saying “do you need a reason to eat when you’re hungry” I think it’s really deep and relatable for those hyper competitive people he see no option but to win. You hear about athletes being “hungry” and it’s interesting seeing someone who isn’t in that realm seeing how meaningful this sport/competition is to some people. It’s only of my favorite scenes in the show

Sure! 35 year old woman, historian, working as a researcher and teacher and I enjoy your videos because I am a simp for sports anime and reaction videos. Especially reactions to all the shows I used to love and watch during my teen and school years. Also seeing people in particular, who can relate to the characters and the sport on a deeper level than I could, is just inspiring and cute and I feel like I am learning something. So yeah, I am sitting here in my chair enjoying my morning coffee as I have done every Wedensday since you started, watching your video before I go on to look into any new reports out on my current topic - the continued work in the removal of Agent Orange in Vietnam. (god help me it is boring). So, thank you for helping me start what promises to be an otherwise horribly boring day with some wholesome Haikyuu hype!

Two things! About Kageyama jump serve, there is no story line about it because he could do it from the begining. If you remember the second episode, where Shoyo and Kageyama meet for the first time in Karasuno, and Hinata says "I'll recieve one of your serves!", he did a jump serve right at there, he could always do that. Secondly, about Villager B, it's a reference to her first comment about the play she made, where she uses to be an extra, aka "Villager B", or a random Villager that means nothing and doesnt even talk, that's where all the references about Villager B come from. Also I'm Javi, I'm from Spain, I'm 27, and I'm currently at a culinary school! I also work as a basketball referee on the weekends. Nice to meet you Victoria! I enjoy anime from time to time, but I'm totally devoted to Haikyuu. I started watching Coach Doni reacting and I enjoyed it a lot, and then you started and I started again, and I'm enjoying going over the show again with both of you, it's super fun. Keep doing what you do!

So who’s gonna tell her that Yamaguchi has a crush on Yachi. When he sees her for the first time he’s been briefly shown saying “cute...” then in the manga it’s hinted at that during a promotion for some card merchandise Yamaguchi wants Yachi’s card if you read in between the lines. I personally think it’s a very cute ship ☺️

Plus, having all those practice matches (not that easy considering they were underdogs back then and he's asking the best teams for a practice match. Coach Nekomata even praised Takeda-sensei and tell him that his persistence is a good example for the students), the words he convey for the team, and the efforts he put to keep the team members in check (their academics, their condition after losing, and lots more in later seasons and chapters) He is a really dedicated advisor, one the club really needs.
