One of the best, if not best African side ever in a World Cup. In terms of quality they actually had an ok defence and KP Boateng and Gyan up front, not to mention the midfield of course.

Honestly, we were lucky to make it to extra time. Ghana ran us off the park. They were the better team, and it wasn't even close. Four years later, that was no longer the case.

UncleMikeNJ To be frank with you 4 years later Ghana still played better than the USA in that 2-1 defeat. Check the statistics and ball possession and shot on target to see for yourself. Nevertheless, all that matters is the winning which the USA got. USA vs Belgium if USA won that match nobody would have said USA played better than Belgium.

People always talk about underrated players, but I never see Gyan mentioned. This guy is easily one of the best African strikers in the world right now. He's already got 45 goals for Ghana in just 86 games, and he's only 28. I wonder why he doesn't play for a bigger club.

GamingGamiest Kwadow Asamoah is the one that plays for Juventus, he's talking about Asamoah Gyan, the captian, he's the one that plays for Al Ain. god_of_thunder96 I agree, super underrated and overlooked. Even though he was rated I think 3rd or 4th (cant remember) best striker in the world for 2014. Oh well.

Its was due to polical interferes in Ghanaian football that messed up the Ghana's performance right after the 2010 world cup

Ghana the best thing we have in Africa, especially to the world cup

The US making the knock out round was an achievement in itself.

Quarantine has me watching this but in retrospect it was a great game and the US were on the verge of a comeback after the equalizer but Gyans individual brilliance is memorable

Boateng is half Ghanaian and half German making him dual national and entitled by birth and heritage to play for either senior team regardless of previous junior competition he may have taken part in. However, this means he can in now way represent Germany having officially played for Ghana on the senior national stage. This same option would have been open to his half brother Jerome, Mario Ballotelli, Danny Welbeck etc. had they better opportunity awaited them at the Ghana team.

In the Ghana vs Uruguay game, it was a wrong decision for the referee to give a penalty when Suarez's handball was clearly a goal. The goal should have been given instead. Wrong abitration and FIFFA remained quiet.

@@apegraham9819 I think you solve it my winning it once. That would show every side in Africa that they can win it, which is the first step to actually winning it. It's just a little bit of a Catch 22. You have to win it before you can win it. Ask the Buffalo Bills how this works.

I feel we could have beaten Uruguay in the quarterfinals, but we would then promptly have been trounced by Holland in the semifinals. That said, Ghana were the better team that night, and deserved to move on. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find a couple beers to repress this memory again. :P

OG no hes right ghana player dove, and players were off side during the free kick. But they got a nice push from the refs because cup was in Africa. Did Ghana do anything special in 2014? No! because the cup was not in Africa and fifa didn't care.

+Masshole 413 You're right . But USA will never win a World Cup I can guarantee you that :) there's a 1% chance that might happen. Round of 16 / quarter finals are a reachable goal but more than that I don't think US will make in the near future
