A late Asamoah Gyan penalty snatched Ghana a deserved 1-0 victory over Serbia in their Group D opener at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The Black Stars, despite having the better of the play, appeared en route to a goalless draw until the Beli Orlovi hit the self-destruct button late on, with Aleksandar Lukovic earning himself a red card before Zdravko Kuzmanovic’s needless handball presented the Africans with the spot-kick from which they seized the three points.

Gyan is just simply one of Africa's greatest football players.

This Ghanaian team was so determined!! What a talent! What a skills and these guys play such a beautiful football just like that old Brazil of the past!! Ghana is a top notch football giants!! Too underrated! Ghana outplayed Serbia too!!!

@@apachedr34 whatever! we always meet teams 2nd, 5th on Fifa Rankings. Ghana will be 30th, yet beat them. 2006 Ghana beat 2nd and 5th on Fifa rankings. Several times we've beaten these in other tournaments even when is clear that the referee is favouring them

You were right, history did repeat itself. Ghana missed a penalty again (Ayew this time) and went out. This time Uruguay went out as well though.

Dis team was strong.

What’s amazing about this particular group was the red cards, I can now recall Klose, Kewell, Cahill and Lukovic. Looking back most were probably there, probably Kewell the stiff decision against Ghana

Wow is that ref blind? The penalty call was good, but even though that defender did pull the Ghana player down, it wasn't a YELLOW CARD. It was a free kick at most Gosh

So what you're saying is when players don't celebrate against their former clubs out of respect it means they should terminate their contracts before every match against an old club instead? It's just called respect, plus there's no such bond as that to your country and nation.
