    @@myspaceplays284 it was a rule but it was never monitored In fact, according to the rules, the keepers were required to have both of their feets on the line But in 2019 the rule changed that goalies must have at least one foot on the line and from that moment the rule was strictly maintained by referees, but most important because the VAR could check it after the penalty kick

    Liar. The WWC has been around for a looooooong time. Officially since 1991. Unofficially started in Italy and Mexico from 1970 and 1971 respectively. Women have always been playing football regardless of stats.

    For those going on about Scurry's save...keep in mind the rules were different/some not as enforced TWENTY FOUR YEARS AGO. Yes, it's been that long and things change.

    That particular rule was not different, the ref just clearly didn't enforce it whatsoever. It seems she enforced having your feet on the line to start but walking out seven or eight feet before the kicker shoots is insane. No doubt the result would've been different if the rule was actually enforced properly. It was an officiating issue but Scurry also should've known better than to take advantage of bad officiating, it's bad sportsmanship to knowingly break the rule so hard and hoping you won't get penalized.

    China was clearly robbed. Scully took way too many steps forward and the referee didn’t call the penalty back. Ridiculous! I am from Brazil and when I saw this I fully expected the ref to make the Chinese player take the penalty again. This happened even when I played on the streets in Brazil. Everyone knows the rule, but the ref.
