ps: I read a reaction a couple days ago(can’t remember their name) but they commented that their favorite new genre is “people who watch Ren reactions”. I 7:44 absolutely love that! So many reactors struggle with “ what kind of music does Ren play?” 😶🧐😶😶😐 There literally isn’t a slot that someone could slip his art in to, other than “Anything variant and spot on perfection

Bardcore is nothing new and goes all the way back to Shakespeare. Bard mint and still does mean poet. If people heard the trilogy of violet, Jenny and screech 300 years ago then it would have been what most people were doing musically. I'm not saying he's not original. I'm just not going to pretend that he learned these things at the University for musical performance that he took. And you cave this music has been around four or five hundred years. I'm not talking about rap but I'm definitely talkin about storytelling with yodeling and instrument playing all-in-one.

I'd really be curious about a vodeographers standpoint on "losing it - fisher retake" Its one of my favourites by Ren and like "what you want" more on the light hearted side Anyways! Love your reactions. Keep it up ❤ Edited: Or of course "animal flow" which is another one take masterpiece - probably the most ambitious, because it involves much more people

Hey Joe E -there is a live version of Jenny Screech Violet on KZread, that was filmed in front of a big audience in some back streets of Brighton. It’s done on a 360 camera and if you view it on a compatible device, such as a smart phone, you can interactively spin it round throughout the whole performance and view the crowd or Ren on stage. It’s phenomenal 👍

I love seeing REN being goofy with his friends! And of course another song I love. The old school Beastie Boys vibe is 🔥great reaction!

I think I've said this before in a comment or chat, but Ren _is_ the director on his videos. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the "costume department" too. XD That ending cracks me up because he's basically a guerilla filmmaker that doesn't always get permission to film in a location anyway (See him with Sam Tompkins "Blind Eyed" with cameo by Angry Car Park Attendant). Ren uses the 360 camera a lot in "Losing It", which I don't think you've reacted to? It's a very fun one as well. I super enjoy when you're talking about the videography, I personally love people being really analytical in their subject of expertise and breaking it down for others to learn. I'd also love to hear you talk about visual influences or techniques, especially since you said you're a huge film buff (as would be expected!) One technical thing as you're improving your set-up: the volume level between the video/music and your voice are really unequal... I feel like I'm missing some of what you're saying if I don't want to have it cranked up. Otherwise, immaculate vibes as always!

Had to laugh about getting excited over a 360° camera. Wait till you see Jenny & screech filmed on 360° and you can control the camera. 😮😂

You mentioned the costume design. I noticed a little while ago that he uses green, blue and purple as themes in the lyrics and the tracksuits they wear in the video are...green, blue and purple. Attention to detail like this is why Ren's videos are so great.

Its a fun video to watch. I think it is a 360 camera. He has used it in other videos. I just love the light hearted beat and fun shots of this video. ❤ Ren.

I think the scene which gives it away is in the park, the cameraman can be seen walking backward while filming with a 360deg camera. My guess is he used a 360 camera and kept playing with the field of view to change the width of the scene. it almost looks like he's playing with the FOV like you would play with the zoom as an effect.

Wow flashback...I drove my kids nuts with Beastie Boys LOL . They were 3,2,1 when Beastie Boys Premiere album came out in 1986 so they pretty much grew up on them. I remember my son was about 10 and my mother found a Beastie Boys CD in his backpack and was upset because she thought that music was "just too old for him" LOL. Thanks REN for the Memories! This was a fun reaction. I hadn't seen this video yet so thanks. ✌❤🤣

Your reaction is always a joy to watch. Today though I cant resist, so am writing the following for you. Ren self produces his videos. With his friends either Luke or Sam on the camera(s). No label, no grand team. No wardorbe department. Creates his own beats. He is also the director. He does most tech stuff in his bedroom. A place he may or maynot be able to leave on any day. Due to Lyme Disease damage to his body and brain. Not sure which video but until his june 9 2023 video drop only 1 cost him more then 1000pounds start to finish. Many of his videos, like HI REN, are 1-take live videos including his instrumentals, and rapping and singing. Anyone else in his videos are either strangers in the street going about their own day, or friends or friends of friends. When they finish filming, its a completed project. Ready as is.

Yeah, the other guys are just some of his good friends helping out and having fun. I LOVE this one but I’ve been a huge fan of the Beasties since around 84 when I first heard them! Yes, I’m old - Whodini, Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC, breakin’, real old Skool OLD 😂

This is one of my favorites. I loved the beastie boys. They were my first cassette I bought for my walkman. Yes I'm old lol but I love Ren!

Did you catch the "Hi Ren, my name is Ren, Oh, hi, nice to meet you"... lol, makes me laugh. He often references his other songs in songs.

Caught you on the “Ren Rollercoaster” with Black Pegasus and I really connected with your reactions and insights. I subscribed here right away and the first video I caught was your Father’s Day reaction with your son. I think it was “The Flash”. I could be wrong about that, but it doesn’t matter because the thing I remember most is just watching you just be a dad. When my son was 4 and my daughter was 4 months I left my then wife and I took the kids with me because I believe being a good parent is the most important thing a human being can do. Joe E you seem like a good man with a huge heart and your boy seemed beyond happy to spend that time with you. If I never learned another thing about you it wouldn’t matter. Yep it a 360 go pro you need to see Losing it .Fisher retake to see just what effects you can do and The tales of Jenny and Screech 360 live but that's about 30 mins long but well worth the watch xx

Love the mention of The Warriors, favorite all time movie.

One of the friends in this pops up on a lot of his videos, and is the Pig butcher in a few. I love how much of a love letter to the Beastie Boys this is.

I love that some of Rens videos were guerrilla filming. There's one you should see, Ren and Sam, Blind Eyed - feat Angry Car Park Attendant. It's brilliant AND funny. And yes, please do a 101 series on these tracks.

The timing of "Being chased by the devil" as the car park guy is behind them making sure they leave was my favourite part, and when Ren must have seen the guy walking up to them first and just decided to keep going regardless makes it a very unique music vid. Might even be my fave Ren vid because of how unscripted it was

I love the clip when Ren' walking across the playground, and I think it's a fish eye from above, maybe on a stick? It's like he's on a treadmill, which he obviously isn’t. I thought it was hilarious that you used that particular spot in the inside shot to explain the lens - you were definitely not listening to the lyrics. 😂 It was cute. I haven't checked, sorry, but you should peep "Illest of Our Time, " and "Money Game part 1" if you haven't already - another live one-take - though I like part 2 a little bit more. "Losing It" is also a fun song with a vibrant video using (I think) a 360 camera or maybe some odd filter.

I was visiting Brighton on the back of seeing REN’s videos and I’d met Queeen Lucia the Cat Lady of Brighton by chance on my first day here. She’s famous for rising a mobility scooter up and down the front shouting “Meeoow” to people. Everyone knows and loves her ♥️ As soon as your What You Want reaction video came out I watched it. I was a few hundred metres from the i360 (massive tower in the background of the end shots). I was parked on the sea front in my campervan. When it got to around 3:14 in the video I heard a “Meeoow” so I immediately checked outside to see if I could see Lucia. She wasn’t there. I watched again and I heard “meeooow” so I went outside thinking she was trying to get my attention. Again, not there. It was only when I watched the actual video did I realise the “Meeoow” is actually on the video !!!!! 😂 She was there the night he filmed it and he knows her well 😝 I told Ren this story and I started it by asking if he knew Joe E Sparks and he said “yeah yeah” enthusiastically. I’ve seen most of the video locations also and you wouldn’t imagine how they turned such normal looking small locations into the masterpieces they are 🙏🏾
