    Right now in WA state more than 50% of the people I know personally have had covid in the last month. None of them have been able to report their cases online or in person. All have had symptoms about as bad as a severe to mild cold. All bar one have been vaccinated and boosted. It is hard to believe the official numbers on cases and severity and efficacy when it clearly is lacking accurate data.

    In WA state, as well.. (Western) according to some in public health - we're counting about 1 in every 7 cases. Our transmission was in the RED since April so we've been in an extremely substantial area of Covid for well over a few months. It just started leveling off 10 days ago.. but since those case numbers are so inaccurate, it's hard to determine.

    I just came down with my first case of Covid 11 days ago. I am a 69 year old woman with several comorbidities. I've had 3 Moderna vaccines shots with the booster given late last Fall. I live in Virginia in the US. I assumed that I had a mild cold - which made sense because I'd spent a few days with my daughter and son-in-law when they had colds. I assumed they didn't have Covid because they'd just had it about 4 weeks earlier. My symptoms were a few hours of a mild headache, a tickle in my throat (never sore) that caused periodic coughing at night for 2 nights, mild runny nose for 2 days, a low grade fever for 3 days, and being tired. When the fever was staying in the 99.5F range I still assumed it was a cold. But it later went up to 100.5 F and then 101F. I was trying not to treat the fever since the current thought seems to be that it's helpful. At the point it got to 100.5 and 101 it occurred to me that it might be Covid and I tested. After 3 or 4 days I felt completely back to normal although perhaps a bit tired. I never felt worse than a mild cold, and I recovered faster than from my normal cold. I do give credit to Dr John for my year and a half of taking vitamins D3 and K2 to get ready for this. I've also been taking zinc and vitamin C. A funny note. For 2 years everyone said keep the grandchildren away from the grandparents or the kids will give them Covid. I had my daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandchildren visiting me the first 3 days I was sick. And "I" gave Covid to one of the grandchildren. He's 8 and he was sick for about 12 hours before bouncing back to normal. I'm thankful I avoided Covid until it had turned into Omicron, and I'm happy to have increased my immunity.

    Unvaccinated and just got Covid for the first time. Extremely sore throat, restless all night and day. Low grade constant fever with sporadic peaks that last for an hour. Sadly I broke my back recently and so the muscle aches associated with COVID have been unbearable as a result. On my third day now, hoping it will ease soon. Have to say, the sore throat is the worst part followed by the muscle aches.

    @luma I'm afraid the Covid situation is not as rosy as most believe. Geert Vanden Bossche, who correctly warned against mass vaccination during a pandemic, has a new white paper that collects together independent research done on the interaction between the covid virus, vaccine-induced antibodies, and the workings of the human immune system. The prognosis is not good. We are in a lull period while the virus figures out how to overcome the (non-neutralizing) antibodies that are currently preventing severe disease in the lungs. People who have never been vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 are in reasonably good shape. Their immune system is still work properly. We vaccinees, not so good. Our innate immune systems are no longer working properly when it comes to covid. The white paper, and also an explanatory letter to parents and pediatricians, is available at Geert's substack. Several of his recent YT interviews summarize this latest work in more understandable terms.

    As South African, maybe a perspective to consider: Africa is an extremely vast "developing" continent. Although with a rapidly declining economy, SA still draws a large amount of people from outlining areas and neighboring countries into its metropolis, as having the strongest economy in Southern Africa. Many people might have never been infected by any Omicron virus or were last infected with the original strains, but due to the remoteness of their villages, never came in contact with the new strains. This can make the opportunity for new strains so much more feasible in developing in these people as they now enter the metropolis. As mentioned above, they can be formed due to original strains being in contact now with the new ones, or could have developed in those remote areas and brought into the metropolis recently. As you mention Dr. John, SA is nearly the only country in Africa (definitely in the Southern part of Africa) which has the technology to identify new strains. So if formed in Africa, South Africa will be the point where it will be discovered first. Just my 5 cents worth.....

    Potentially the wrong conclusion about Aus and NZ with the virus arriving in a vaccinated population. The trend if of the lines/rate of increase for those two countries doesn't look any difference to the rate of increase for US and UK. Obviously the increase started later due to our lockdowns, the consequences of which were probably worse than the virus, however I would say that given the supposed high vaccination rates, the graph looks suprisingly similar to other countries with lower vaccination rates. The other issue is the recent admission that Sudden Adult Death Syndrome has just "inexplicably" gone through the roof and that doctors can't explain it. Which is funny. Because in an 80% vaccinated population where violence has been used to force people to comply with terrorist diktats, no-one else seems unable to identify the obvious correlation between the experimental genetic drugs and the huge increase in cardiac episodes.

    I live in a county north of Chicago. We are currently listed as "high" transmission. That would have caused panic 2 years ago, but nobody is paying any attention to it now. No panic, no concern, don't hear anything about anyone having Covid. Everyone had it or was exposed last winter. A few more people wearing masks in public, but that is voluntary, not required.

    In mid May, my husband returned from a trip feeling super sick. I tested him 15 minutes after he walked into house. When he tested positive, we isolated him. Unfortunately, I welcomed him home with a big kiss so I tested positive 5 days later. We're double vaccinated with one booster. We had fever, chills, diarrhea, coughs, body aches but fortunately, our oxygen levels stayed above 95. We're 70 with high BP so our doctor prescribed Paxlovid a couple of days from onset of symptoms. We soon felt SO much better after a day and a half after our first dose. We have recovered but still suffer from fatigue and coughs. I feel so fortunate to have acess to medicines that can combat the worse outcomes of covid.

It's unbelievable stable even at 50°C and it's actually the same enzyme that's used in the ELISA (enzyme linked immuno-sorbent assay) to test for "COVID". Lookup trimeric phospholipase or (sPLA2-IIA). Also causes muscle aches because its a nureotoxin that binds to acetylcholine the neurotransmitter. Look for the headline "Like venom coursing through the veins" and look for an article from university of Arizona if you think I'm just making this up. How easy do you think it would be to spray this into the atmosphere through the use of "stratospheric aerosol injection", which is their term for it. Not mine. Snake venom is know to cause loss of taste and smell in those who try sucking the venom out with their mouths. It would even make logical sense that you lost smell and taste of you inhaled it. Since when have we ever seen a cold cause people to lose their sense of smell and taste???

    I'm in Northern Virginia in the US, across the river from Washington, DC, and three out of four people in the house are several days into a pretty unpleasant case of covid, confirmed by home self tests. 90% of people in this county (Fairfax) are at least partially vaccinated, and all three of us in the house who have covid are fully vaccinated (Pfizer) and boosted once (about 6 months ago). So we wish we'd gotten the second booster. I've been taking vitamin D, because of the recommendation on this channel, as well as zinc, and this is nevertheless as sick as I can remember feeling. We're all on paxlovid and starting to feel better, but I'm in my fourth day of symptoms and still far short of 100%.

    Just an FYI, should I be attacked by political comments/agendas, Sinovac with 3 doses are not effective against the Omicron strain compare to previous initial strain. Sinovac has yet to revise these vaccines like Pfizer for omicron focused. The weight of mRNA vs non-mRNA vaccines are a balance between longer , effective immunity and long term unknown safety, and etc factors. I would have wished vaccines are an optional resort, but we should be using the simplest things like Vitamin D, K, Zinc, and whatever co-existing meds. Whilst, an outbreak is also a reminder of our choice to congregate, better cleanliness habits, choose self-protection, rather than thinking an obstruction to human rights covering and protecting our nasal-mouth from infection. You can choose to think otherwise, but you should not be tell what others their rights to protect themselves either.

    My biggest question is about the testing. I live with my 2 adult daughters and we all got Covid. The first daughter who got it was ill with flu like symptoms and a fever. She got tested at the Dr. the day after symptoms set in. Negative for flu but positive for Covid. About a week later her sister was I'll. She tested at home and it was negative and after waiting another day she tested negative again. A day or 2 after that she went to the Dr. and tested positive. I started to feel like my allergies were getting really bad I went to an urgent care and tested negative. Two days later I went to see my GP about my allergies, but was tested for Covid and flu anyway. It was positive for Covid. How many test do yuh I need to take? How long should you wait to test? As far as my systems they were mild, again I thought was my allergies. I have had the Rona twice now this year. Where is the natural immunity? I was never vaxed and had made it until this year before I got sick.

    I know a little more about the situation of Dandong in China. In advising residents along the border river to "shut windows", the authorities are clearly fearful of virus spread from the other side of the river. The subtlety underlying this logic is that, the border river is actually an international condominium - a shared river of two nations. Examples of this sort in Europe are The Moselle and Lake Constance. That effectively means boats from one side of the river can freely reach the river bank of the other side. So long as people on board don't get on dry land, technically they have not physically crossed the border. People along the Chinese side of the river bank do not need reaching out too far and runs the risk of being exposed to the virus, since the effective border is the river bank. This is one of the reasons for the rampant cross-border trade/smuggling between the two countries.

    Thank you again DR Campbell. I had also read that "fine" aerosolized virus particles could linger in the air of enclosed quarters for up to 3 hrs, but never heard this was potentially only a half-life determination. This is more reason to continue to be cautious in public settings, especially those with high volume, multiple person to person interactions. It also reinforces the need for better ventilation capabilities in such places. So I very much appreciate this update. I have also read about infections spreading outdoors, downwind, some considerable distance to others, as the only way to have explained their new infections. And there are accounts of those being infected even though they maintained consistent separation and distance from others. So caution, even extra caution, seems still advised to best maximize our safety as the learning curve continues.

    But don't forget the virus (like many others) has a lipid envelope that is denatured by UV light, e g. sunlight. Once the denaturating starts the protein gets damaged and virus can't replicate anymore. Being outside is the safest place to be.

    @dr.j6747

    @@Clodhopping I agree, outdoor environments are considered the lowest probability for virus transmission. I think there are multiple variables, but any thoughts of how long it might take for the lipid envelopes to deteriorate to the point of being unable to infect others? Let's say a symptomatic person sneezes, laughs, coughs, and those particulates drift downwind to me. Are we talking seconds, minutes, 15 ft, 100 ft, variable sun intensity, etc.? I know we went through several non-science based social distancing recommendations, 6 feet, 3 feet, etc. none of which ever made any sense to me. What I can say, is I believe I became previously infected after a verbal interaction with another person outside of my home, while neither of us were masked, and about 5-6 days later, a sickness took me down fast, within hours I was down in bed, dizzy, barely able to walk, my brain felt dried-up, it was misery to try to think and caused me to burst into tears, one of the sickest times in my life.

I know another unvaxxed family who got omicron and whose symptoms were no worse than the vaxxed who got it. So how can you say you’d be worse if you are unvaxxed? Depends entirely on your risk profile (age, premorbidites, unknown factors, etc.) - I feel the risk you quote of a myo/pericarditis is highly exaggerated if the shot is given with an aspiration first. - Dr. Campbell had some graphs on that more than a year ago showing clearly that the risk from an infection to suffer this is much higher, even given the practice of no aspiration. I have had my third shot in the middle of December and I can only say I'm all ok. (Lucky on the reason why it should be aspirated - as are 999/1000 people)

    @@reconciliation86 Asperation should have an impact on infection from my understanding, but it is the spike protein which causes myo or pericarditis. Yes my risk profile is definetely at play, and I am sure Dr. Campell would realize this, but I would like even a solid population wide average, since this is so difficult to get a precise number on. He did cover preliminary UK numbers for BA1, but those were preliminary and in that my age category hospitalization rates were 7/100 000. It is a good data point, but not enough for a full conclusion.

    @@Taoscape What is most likely the cause of the myo/pericarditis is the inadvertant release of the vaccine (i. e. fixed spike protein) into the blood stream. - Which is not intended. It is a intra-muscular injection that - without aspiration - can in less than probably a percent of cases become a intra-venous injection. Even without aspiration there is a very low chance of this happening and you said it yourself: "Getting this statistic in X per 100000 is a bit elusive." - That is because the risk is "elusive". Aspiration does not have any effect on "infection" or not, it is the act of drawing from the syringe before giving the vaccine, to make sure that there is no blood being drawn into the syringe. So you can make sure you don't inadvertently give an intra-venous injection as opposed to the intra-muscular you were supposed to give.

    As stated previously, it depends on your risk profile, but given the jab effectiveness wanes fairly quickly against Omicron, it may not be worth it against the risk of a possible serious side effect. (Omicron is fairly mild in most cases).

    Been to a wedding last Thursday [a UK Bank Holiday], that’s six days ago, and a large number of guests have come away Covid positive, including myself, my wife, my daughter, the bride and at least 10 others that I know of personally. So it has certainly not gone away. My main symptoms have been of a moderate head cold plus loss of taste and smell. Only today have I been particularly sleepy. So only moderately ill at worse so far.

    Not of its freeze dried snake venom enzyme. Since when have we ever seen a cold cause people to lose their sense of smell and taste???

    Hi John. I have a suspicion that long covid is caused by a reservoir of live virus hidden in the body like shingles. I think I myself have had long covid since my first infection in Aug of 2020. Most of the time no symptoms, but anytime I have some other malady that would reduce the potency of my immune response I seem to get symptomatic again for a while. Very similar situation to repeated bouts of shingles in some people during periods of lowered immune status. I have not heard of any studies looking into this possibility, but it seems plausible and appears to be happening in my case. Have you heard of any studies in this area? And I do recall learning of cases of measles caught by just walking by the home of someone with an open window and the disease when in medical school many years ago. Studies show omicron is as transmissible as measles so who knows if it can be caught by blowin' in the wind as described. Stay safe everyone.

    My two cents: I live in Hong Kong. Omicron has gone through the population over the last few months, according to tests (which is meaningless). The elderly population is largely unvaccinated (including myself), but there are very few deaths from Covid. How do you explain that?

  • @nicholashall4625

    @nicholashall4625

    Жыл бұрын

    87.5% of the HK population is fully vaccinated. It’s 76% for those aged 70-79 and 59% for those 80+. So the elderly population is not largely unvaccinated. The deaths only appear relatively low because they have all happened in the past few months, hitting mainly the unvaccinated elderly. Hong Kong currently has one of the worst death rates in the world. So actually it’s pretty easy to explain. Hong Kong dropped their strict COVID measures opening up to Omicron ravaging the elderly unvaccinated. You can read the full detail in the British Medical Journal

    @@itsmeforsure5475 no I don’t think that is the explanation. I live in Portugal which has the highest per capita consumption of fish in the world and that did not help us here. The reason for Hong Kong’s low death rate, until recently, was the lockdown and masking policies as well as a very strict track and trace policy. The minute they started to relax them people became complacent and then COVID hit the unvaccinated elderly very hard, such that in recent months HK had the highest COVID death rate per capita in the world
