US Gato Class RC Submarine Overview

Ойын-сауық

This is an in-depth overview of a recently completed US Gato class submarine in 1/72 scale based on the Revell of Germany plastic model kit. Originally constructed by Steve Neill in California, this model was completely refurbished, set up with a new cylinder, tested and trimmed here at the Drydocks.

Love your work, such patience and detail. What's the "crush depth?". 😊

These cylinders can operate in excess of 30ft for limited periods of time, but in practical application rarely venture deeper than three or four feet.

I enjoy your videos because you explain very well what to consider as a builder and as an RC driver. Btw: when you test in your pool, can you turn off the fountain please? I listen to these with headphones and struggle to hear properly with that 'trickling' sound.

I have a Revell Gato kit sealed in box that I bought many years ago to convert to RC. Heard it was difficult to convert so I never went ahead to start. But seeing this video made me rethink. What's a WTC cost?

Most cylinders for this boat will set you back between $600 and $800 depending on which company you go with. I don't have a product to offer in that size at this moment, unfortunately.

How do you film the underwater portions of your videos?

Hero cam. There are lots of other underwater cameras available, however, at much cheaper prices.

Hi Thanks for the video. I have a Gato 1/72 model which I want to build. I am looking for some real good instruction on painting the model. My father served in Gato class subs and I want to do a real good job. Can you help me in any way with this task? Thank you.
