Hi all . I had a hand in making 6 out of 9 of these tracks. Back in those days it was mostly hardware. So (for those interested) : Atari ST - 1Mb of memory, floppy disks (!), 14" CRT screen running Cubase. Akai samplers, (s3000, s950) Mackie analog mixer, Analog compressors (various), Roland JV1080 digital Novation bass-station, Various external effects Mixed to DAT. In Deep = me with the legendary Neil Hutchinson (Trixta), New Jazz hustlers = me with Brendan Howell, Twisted = me , Shifty = me , Recoil = me.

i think that there will never be as much skill and talent in production of the dance genre as there was from the 80s to around 2005. The music then was much better than a lot of the junk given today.
This somehow reminds of PS1 Games. I think this genre was pretty common back then, especially in driving games.

The golden era. Manchester, London, Bristol. These pioneering Titans turned electronic music upside down and created something so dynamic and timeless all other genres of the same electronic era have simply been forgotten or sound irritatingly dated. Solid fearless expressive production.

I travelled the UK first time in 1997 as a child. Crazy to see what other people put their work in at the exact same time. I actually prefer this 1998 more "junglish" approach to "liquid" dnb. The stuff nowadays gives me a different vibe, it's too kittenish and doesn't send me into space right. Also the drum programming is much smoother here.
