Honestly the detail of Leela not understanding the reference is the best part. It makes the scene more organic that a known scientist would be privy to the history of celestial nomenclature

It's a "word from another language sounds funny in English" joke which is pretty basic, and on top of that everyone knows it and has said it, so it's kind of boring and expected too. On the other hand, people keep using because in spite of all that it's still a funny word, comedically speaking you can do a lot with Uranus.
