A former neighbor saw the cockscombs (red flowers) growing by the tree and started to say, "Oh what nice...." then she couldn't get herself to say the word so after a pause, she said "rooster combs", LOL. Until then, I never even connected the flower's name with what she thought it was saying. And there was someone else who, introduced to a friend from a certain city in Virginia, went out of her way to pronounce the silent L in Norfolk so its second syllable doesn't sound like something else. But UrAnus was always the standard English pronunciation of the planet until some thought they could defuse the jokes, but little did they know, they were just saying Urine Us instead....hee hee

The name's even worse given how Uranus is one of the 4 gas giants (along with Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune). So when we talk about Uranus, we're always at risk of making a gas out of ourselves. XD
