Uptiding for Codling - Boosted Baits v Natural Baits

Спорт

An unscientific test to look at the difference between fishing boosted baits against regular baits during a couple of hours fishing at Whitby.
Some anglers swear by dipping their baits in a secret concoction they have made up. Does it really make a difference to your catch rate, or is it more of a confidence booster?
This test was conducted using frozen squid and frozen Black Lugworm. Fresh/Live worm would definitely be my preference, but most anglers coming aboard Sea Urchin don't have access to live worm.

Hi Andy, just found your channel and subscribed. Great to see the codling coming on uptiding. In the early 90’s I used to captain the team from RAF Cottesmore. We use to fish out with Alan Ward on board ‘Shy Torque’. Had some amazing days out on the offshore wrecks with Alan, using a pirk with two muppets above. Always had cod in the freezer and that was after giving a fair bit away to the other lads in the hangar! Happy memories.

Happy days indeed….Richard (Alan’s Son) Skippers Shy Torque III who moors alongside me now. The 90’s were an incredible time to fish. It’s alot different now, with good and indifferent days. All we can do is try to give everyone a good day out. Thanks for watching the video. Much Appreciated, Andy

hi, so how are you uptiding , when youre not casting uptide, and you should never have dirty hands while you have clothes on, there are much better rod rests than what you have, i thought for a moment you were going to lose one, nice to see some codling

I run a Charter Boat John. At Whitby we list the trips in our booking calendars as "Uptiding", so that our customers know they will be fishing at anchor, as opposed to drift fishing. Obviously, depending on where you fish on the boat determines whether you will fish Uptide or Downtide. Thanks for your words of wisdom, but I'm not taking my clothes off because my hands got dirty!

@@whitbywreckandreeffishing im sure you have anglers watch your vids that have never fished uptide, so they could well think that dropping the rig out the back of the boat is uptiding, also im not sure why you would take yer kit off to wipe your hands, i always take at least one towel but always wipe my hands on my bib n brace or smock before on the towel, by the end of the winter my clothes can stand up on their own

Medium size seal eats 11lbs of ground fish per day. Need a way of controlling the population. Seals also carry parasites that infest the good eating fish and can be passed on to humans. Enjoy the videos, thanks!
