    You mentioned at 3:41 that you can turn the bulb to make sure the focus is correct. In your experience with this bulb, how do you orientate the bulb to get the best focus or in your opinion, it's not important how you turn the bulb?

  • @TCsAnythingGoes

    Depends largely on your reflector/projector. For my inspira, the best focus I get is when the bulb is vertical. For my Alphard hi-beam, its slanting 45 degree towards the center. For the Alphard main beam (projector), it didn't make any difference whichever angle i twist it.

    That’s the whole scam that “just” replacing hid bulbs with led bulbs is. The majority of the time - you’re simply getting an incorrect beam pattern because it’s impossible for them to place the leds in the same location as the center of the hid bulb…. So Here’s what you should try: 1) if you have hazy or cloudy external plastic housings the. Go to headlight restoration pro - and - sand polish coat your lights. 2) Consider doing a new projector retrofit such as morimoto d2s 5.0 or if you want to go LED there’s a morimoto and nhk options. The main idea is to get a projector that is designed FOR led from the start. There are no shortcuts Every single time we get new lighting upgrades on the market - same bs games where people try to scam others into buying cheap upgrades that most often do not work. It’s the same cycle every 5-10 years… Lightwekz has all sorts of retrofit options… go there

  • @TCsAnythingGoes

    Yes, my car has AFS. If its flashing there is 3 possibilities:- - you might have accidentally pop the projector out of the socket mount ( to verify, just rock the projector and if its loose then its out. Just pop it back in.) - either the wiring or a socket is blocking the movement of the projector, check and verify that nothing is stuck - new bulb is too heavy (i had this issue last time when I just got the car and it came with some very heavy LEDs that everytime i go over a speedbump, it gives me the AFS flashing light) Let me know if this helps.

    Ohhh HID do last long. I have been using HIDs for a long while before moving all my cars to LEDs. In this video, the HID is only used for a year and it barely degraded (i seldom drive night). If you have not done so, I suggest you give LEDs a try. They are brighter and also does not have the need for start up time like HIDs.

    @@hal752 4300k - yellowish white. 6000k - white. The output color is determined by these kelvin units. Higher = whiter to blueish. I would stay at 6000k for best performance in dry and wet conditions. If you have ever driven a car with 8000k bulbs in the night rain, you will understand that the light will just bounce off the water surface making the road really dim and dangerous to drive. As to whether LEDs are brighter or not, you have to see the lumens value. And LEDs have various lumens depending on the brand, design, chip used and etc. So a cheap LED may even be dimmer that HIDs and there are LEDs that outperforms HIDs. As to the beam pattern, it also depends on the housing of the light and the design of the LEDs. If the housing is designed for HID, obviously it will work very well with HIDs. Based on my tryouts of LEDs few years back VS now...... LEDs have definitely improved vastly and even surpassed HID in terms of performance and efficiency. Few years back, I tried moving to LEDs and I returned it after just one drive with the LED (not even a cheap LED). As recent as this year itself, I tried cheap LED (Brand C6) on a projector housing meant for halogen and the light output was worst than halogen. Then I tried a more expensive brand (Brand Novsight) in the same housing and the light output and beam pattern definitely surpasses even the HID in my Alphard. My point is, give it a try. LEDs aren't as terrible as it used to be anymore.

  • @hal752

    @hal752

    Жыл бұрын

    I agree there not terrible however on my car I've found that d3s xenon bulbs at around 5000k provide a higher lumin rating at 10 meters compared to a LED. I tested against a pair of bull vision LEDs and they miss the hot spot that xenons offer which is in turn used in high beams. Xenon light in my car has further range than the LED. Personally it would say if the xenon was 100 percent the Led would be around 85.
