    Great video thank you! Does WYZE keep the footage it records or is it secure for the owner in the cloud? I haven't seen anything on that as I am interested in using WYZE cameras for home security. Much more research to do! And last question- has anyone seen what happens to how the camera is affected or not affected in snow or heavy rain?

    Snow and Rain hasn't impacted either of ours. They still work great. As for the footage, the free service included, covers 12-second rolling video clips stored in the cloud for 14-days, then deletes them (oldest first, to make room for the new clips. But if you add the Micro SD card to the camera, you can keep the clips as long as you like, and have all day recording. They also offer Cam Plus, that will allow longer than 12-second video clips, longer storage, and the ability to use their AI detection, to identify Vehicles, people, and animals, (so you stop getting alerts every time the wind blows the trees in your neighbors yard). I hope this helps add to the information you're using when you consider what's right for your home setup. Thanks for taking the time to watch our video, and for leaving us your comment. Please subscribe to the channel, so we can hear from you again in a future video. And we love to hear back and get your thoughts on it, if you choose to add one of these to your home security setup.

    Thanks for sharing the video. I can't seem to get it to scan the code and only the red light keeps on flashing. I don't see any buttons on the back? Any tips or ideas on how to fix this?

    If it's the camera itself not tracking the QR code, I have had to start out with the camera and phone screen arms width apart, and slowly bring the camera and phone together, for it to focus and scan. Also, make sure the screen brightness is up. Or try touching them together, and slowly pull the phone screen and camera lens apart, for it to catch it. If the camera itself doesn't appear to be in sync mode, you may find the un-brick video we made helpful, to flash the camera and reset it to factory default, (so you can start from scratch). You'll find that video here, (kzread.info/dash/bejne/qGuplbGokabIfs4.html). But if neither of these work, you should reach out to Wyze Support, (support.wyze.com/hc/en-us) and they can assist you further. The Wyze products come with a 1-year warranty, and if they can't help you fix it, they will ship you a new one and have you return the original one. I hope one of three suggestions helps you get your flood light up and working. Please subscribe and join the Smarthome Riggs community, and let us know if you get this resolved. We hope to hear from you again in a future video.

    My junction box is square which is ok but the existing normal floodlight did not have the 2 white wires coming from the junction box. Instead the black wire from the light was attached to one brown wire from the box and the white wire from the light was attached to also only a single brown wire from the box. Makes me hesitant since there's only 1 brown wire instead of 2 white wires. I'll probably send it back and get another lamp socket adapter and install a wyzecam with the small floodlight instead.

    I am unfamiliar with the power wiring that you've described. If there was an existing light, the power and ground wires it used should be connected to the Wyze flood lamp in a similar fashion. If you are unclear on which wire is the hot and which is the ground you can get a non-contact voltage tester like this amzn.to/3PQfJBF I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from touching a live wire. If you are still not comfortable messing with the wiring, go with your gut and pivot to a different cam and light setup. I hope this helps you make the best decision for you and Thank you for supporting the channel.

Neither of us has a need for another floodlight camera at this time, but if we get enough comments we may get one to review. Thank you for the comment and Thanks for supporting the channel.

    @@SmarthomeRiggs That's too bad because I think this new Wyze floodlight is a huge improvement. But it would be perfect if the LED color temperature could be adjusted to a warmer light.

    Okay so after installing my Wyze Floodlight it worked fine for a day but now has bad nothing but problems. The additional camera plugged into it would show offline on the app and the only way to bring it back would be to turn the house switch to the floodlight off and on. Then eventually both the added camera and floodlight would go offline on the app. The most recent issue is the floodlight would go full brightness for no apparent reason, so I turned it off via the app. But after it bit it did it again, even though the app showed it was off. I had to just turn the house switch to it off. I even had issues with the app settings for it, it was not responding to my choices. Not sure if I just have a defective unit or the software is the problem. I can't take it back to Home Depot because now the return period is passed, so basically I'm out $100. I contacted Wyze but they aren't responding back. This will probably be my last product I buy from Wyze!

    Sorry to hear that Dan. We've got 2 of these Flood lights, and both of us are using a secondary WyzeCam v3 with them, (as well as the one that comes installed). And both of these things have been rock solid for us. They hold the brightness level set in the app, they respond to the motion sensor, and manual switch as expected. We've not had any problems with either unit. Wyze does have a forum page, I would encourage you to look into, as this sounds like an isolated incident with your unit, or wiring setup. I understand you may be past the return period for Home Depot, but Wyze covers 1-year against defects and issues, so you're not out $100 unless you do nothing. When I had a Wyze Outdoor camera fail, I reached out and was able to speak to a rep, who did some troubleshooting, asked me to send a log file from the app, and then they sent a replacement camera within 4-6 days. I'm not sure why you're having issues getting a hold of someone, as they have contacts in the App, and on their website. But I do understand your concerns that it's not working, and I hope you get it fixed or replaced, so you can enjoy it as much as I do.

    @@SmarthomeRiggs thanks for your reply, I will keep trying to get a hold of Wyze. I really wanted this floodlight to work. If it ever does I hope they offer a soft white LED light. Or maybe I could use a filter over the flood lenses. I hate cool white LED’s.

    Make sure you have removed the plastic covering the V3 camera and I find it easiest to start with the QR code further away from the camera (1.5-2 feet) and slowly move towards the camera. You can also start out with the QR code right up against the camera and slowly pull back, I have has 2 camera that didn't seem to work, but after power cycling them a few times I tried again and they worked just like they were supposed to. I hope this helps you get it setup and thanks for supporting the channel.

    I don't understand the point of the ground wire with this light, when it's not really a 120volt light setup. So the ground wire serves no purpose with this light.

  • @SmarthomeRiggs

    @SmarthomeRiggs

    2 жыл бұрын

    The ground wire goes to the grounding strap, (which is the code for any outdoor fixture in most of the states in the union, (whether your ground wire goes all the way back to your box, or to the green ground rated screw in the sealed J-Box it's mounted to)). This grounding is to ensure that regardless of if a discharge is through water leaking in during normal operation, or due to accident, (like a tree falling on the fixture itself) that any extra voltage cause by a crossed wire, has a safe place to be routed away from the load wire, rather than going back through the load wire and short-circuiting your fuse box, or home. So it actually does serve a purpose, even in this light. But thanks for your question as always. Hope 2021 ended up being a good year for you, and that your 2022 is starting out amazing. Hope to hear from you in a future video.
