Why the Wyze Cam V3 is Now The Best Budget Security Camera

Ғылым және технология

I decided to re-review the Wyze Cam V3 because so many things have changed in the last 6 months with Wyze and their Wyze Cam V3 indoor and outdoor camera. This little beast of a camera can pretty much deal with your camera based security anywhere around your home, including indoors, outdoors, through windows, on a floodlight, connected to smart lighting, or with its own spotlight.
The thing is nuts now, and it's still not pricey.

You published another good one, Brian. One thing I especially like with Wyze products that is rarely discussed is the ability to share your cameras and Wyze devices with another person who has a Wyze account. You don't have to share your account/password with them to do it...just type in their email address. If you have a camera in a small office, for example, you can share it with everyone who might need access to it. This includes their sensors and even includes their car...I tested it!!! You want to drive around my house? That might be a bit silly, but just shows what you can do. Everyone a camera/device is shared with can get notifications of motion, even. The sharing feature alone can make Wyze stuff very desirable for a lot of folks. Keep it up, Brian.

I agree with the pros you mention, it's a great camera but let's also talk about the cons as well. 1- I have 4 Wyze v3 cams and at least 1 of them a month will fail with error 90 (no WiFi issues since other devices connect properly) and I have to reboot it for it to start working again. Sent feedback, it's not solved yet. 2- The person detection on outdoors is horrible if you want to rely on it to notify of a possible intruder in your property. The AI consistently confused spiderwebs or flying insects with a person so my Alexa routine woke at 3am telling me there's someone on the backyard. I sent videos as feedback but after a few months got tired of it and did my own local person detection Aside from those issues the camera works as expected and I feel you get a lot for your money

Which is alot. But not someone going in or out front door. In the yard or walking in street. I have cam pro plus. When you arm the cameras it chooses if it will or not. I put on test mode and was outside working on yard, 2 hours later it finally went off. Everyone seems to have no problem but I'm getting ready to get rid of them. But the money list of 4 camera and 4 annual subscriptions for cam plus pro is alot of money. So disappointed n exhausted do this

Just a note - Wyze cameras have a flaw that has had others and myself discontinue use. The flaw is that the cameras at some point start making a screeching noise (not the siren) loud enough to wake up multiple households in the area. It’s a rude awakening to say the least. There are some articles and videos on this subject out there with possible fixes, but definitely a problem.

Are you a beta tester for the new pc application for view multiple Wyse cameras? Will the new beta pc connection work with other RTSP packages; for example "Agent DVR?" Wyse has "pulled" their RTSP firmare from their website. Using an "old" copy of the Wyse RTSP firmware with Wyse Cam v3; allowed me to configure "Agent DVR."

All three of my wyze v2 cameras failed all at nearly the same time. I liked them at first but wyze has become very greedy and annoying, constantly updating and showing adds to subscribe to their paid service for better performance which the cameras already had when I first purchased them. It seems every time they update they got less responsive and missed very obvious people walking right up my driveway in the middle of a perfectly clear sunny day. By comparison, I also bought a Eufy outdoor camera which always catches action way before the wyze cams do, they have the exact same features as the wyze cams, cost about the same, and are truly outdoor cameras which don't require an additional purchase of waterproof enclosures that look like mini birdhouses, and are a total nuisance to set up and pair each camera because you need to access this tiny little button to start the pairing. If you loose power or your internet connection, you have to climb up and reset each camera again. Some of my cameras are nearly 25 feet high, as they are mounted on the peaks of ny house for a full view of my property. The wyze cams in the front are just above head level and they still miss a lot of action, even on the highest sensitivity level.

I use Wyze from the very very beginning and still use them as the majority provider of my cameras, but I'm always a bit worry in terms of security and privacy, just can't convince myself to trust China as the government has control over what to do with these devices and when! my worry is that I'm essentially hosting an army of DDoS hosts for when they need it.. also I never trusted that no-one may or may not watch my feeds! and have seen a few times cameras doing weird things, not sure if they are glitches or something else, but can't trust them! although, again, I love them otherwise.

The Wyze app is terrible. And EVERY device I've ever owned can only last 10-12 days before needing the power to be unplugged and re-inserted in. App resets, Cell phone restarts, network restarts, deleting settings is basically the whole experience with this Company. And don't forget they knew about security flaws that were actively being used in the wild for 3 years and did nothing.

I haven't had this experience in my own place. Not sure what's going on for you, but common problems like this are often related to WiFi.
