Wyze Cam V3 vs Wyze Cam V2 - Comparing Features, Video & Audio Quality

Ойын-сауық

Today, we are going to compare the new Wyze Cam version 3 to the older version 2. We will compare its features and see what is added to the new version and also what is missing. We will then compared the video and audio quality day and night (mostly indoors).
I will also be showing how you can set up either the Wyze Cam V3 or the Wyze Cam V2 to look through a window glass just using the included metal disk mount and we will check the video quality both in daytime and at night and see if there will be a lot of glare.
I will also be showing how the wyze cameras perform with Wyze's Cam Plus subscription which I have a added and set these cameras.
Please note that both of these cameras were sent by Wyze for me to do a comparison video. Thank You Wyze.

Thanks for the great reviews. There is a strong possibility I may owe my life to one of these inexpensive Wyze cams. I bought a few to spread around my business, and one of them recently alerted me to an armed burglar attempting to rob me. Due to the heads up from the camera, I was able to take appropriate measures to defend myself and hold the guy until police arrived. My camera footage was instrumental in making the arrest. Had it not been for that simple motion alert....I might not be making this post. Very thankful for that.

Its always interesting watching your videos. I appreciate the amount of time and detail you put into this. I encourage everyone watching to go back to your earlier videos and you will notice a progression in technology. Wyze took a big step and I suspect that the other camera companies will too. So far you have inspired me to buy a Reolink Eco, Ezviz doorbell, and 2 Ezviz C1Cs that are used from inside my windows looking out. I mounted each of the C1Cs inside of a small box to eliminate my indoor lights reflecting back into the camera at night. Each camera has their pro and cons and I really appreciate that you try to show them. Thanks again!

I have 8 of the v2s, but they are far from flawless. They are $25 cameras though, and for that price, they're decent. The video quality is acceptable in most settings, but it is _very_ flawed. They also have absolutely awful WiFi. Using the app is fine, but you cannot capture more than 3 or 4 RTSP streams simultaneously over the same network. I have tried everything and my network rivals a medium-sized business. Honestly, for $200 I think 8 of them is an okay deal but ultimately disappointing. Lastly, I have Deep Packet Inspection enabled for all Wyze cameras and they send questionable packets to questionable services, namely Chinese chat services. The MACs also randomly change on reboot in some of the ones that I have which is suspect.

while starlight feature is really cool the example you showed when you were in your house with the lights off. Just your range lights on dies make things brighter it doesn't necessarily make things clearer. I could not make your face out at all in the house with it enabled it also heavily pixelates the picture which is expected. But for outdoor use with minimal lights it would be a viable option.

Night vision would be grayscale, so must’ve been off for the color shots. With v2, you can disable the IR LEDs in the settings and still use night vision mode, which can be useful when IR reflections would be an issue (e.g. window glass). I’d assume v3 has that option as well, though I can’t confirm.

That's the one big thing I'd miss in the V3 cameras. I'm surer I could find a way to right something up, but it is a hinderance with the V3's that would have to be overcome.

I finally got 2 of these but returned it for quality issues. One had poor focus, images far away were not sharp, the other one was clearer but on recorded images it was like I was recording on SD, you couldn’t make out a license plate on a parked car 15ft away. 🤔 Your sample video on V3 was clearer and crisper than what I got. I think they rushed this batch and there’s gonna be a lot of returns or warranty claims if you can find someone to answer in customer service. The notifications are still 18 seconds like your test results, that’s ridiculous for a paid service. But on the good side I do like the new starlight sensor or color night vision, this camera for me is strictly monitoring for my use. For reliable person alerts I’d rather pay Ring or get eufy. I’ll wait a few months and buy again, I can always return if they’re bad. Hopefully quality control is better by then too.

I see that you placed your camera for indoor viewing only. What if when the burglar or burglars or someone came in and grab your indoor cameras, and where do you place them? is it anchored down by screws? even screws are viable for unscrewss, anyway, that's what happened to my front door, when they picked the key hole of a sleigh key way. well, do you have any suggestions on that? my ring door bell 2 has no problem with those burglars, it just won't see them or whatever!!! ever!!???? WELL, outside cameras should have real time notification and mostly immediate to catch the thefves. I love your reviews.

@@damagecontrol7 A 32GB microSD card holds about three days’ worth of footage from the v2 cam, whether that is continuous over a period of three days or event-only for presumably quite a bit longer a span of time. If the sample in the video is typical and my rough math isn’t way off, it looks like that same microSD card might hold about a half-day of footage at v3’s HD Max quality. If the original question is about the length of the local event-based recording... The v2 cam records in one-minute intervals (synchronized to its clock) and retains the videos in which the camera detected an event. I’m pretty sure the cool-down delay does not apply to the local recordings. I would guess the same applies to the v3 cam, though I can’t confirm it.
