UPDATED Overheard Fiancée Telling Her Friend Her Previous Lover Was The Best... Relationship Advice

It was quite by accident that I heard this. We had a group of our friends over and as the night went on we all kind of busted out into little groups. Some of us were in one room playing Texas Holdem and a couple of others were watching a Lord of the Ring marathon. I thought she was watching the movies but she and one of her close friends were actually sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee and talking. Our group had run out of soda so I got up to go to the kitchen to get drinks and a couple of snacks. As I'm rounding the corner I hear my fiance talking and before I completely come in the room I hear her clearly say "Jason is great but he will never be the lover that Bill was" she then followed it up with "Its not really fair to Jason though, Bill was just really gifted down there".
STORY:
(update) I (28M) with fiance (27F) about a month ago overheard her tell a friend her previous Ex was the best lover she ever had

True story; around 1991 I was new to the area and got a job at a major department store. I met a girl there and we started dating. I worked in maintenance and always had a bunch of tools on my dresser. One night after a round of love making, she grabbed my measuring tape and measured my length. She must have discussed it with her friends because it spread through the store like wild fire. All these women I barely knew were walking up to me and snickering " 7 1/2 inches aye" When I confronted my girlfriend about it she acted like it was no big deal, and told me to stop being insecure. The next time we made love I grabbed the same tape and measured her lady opening top to bottom. The following day at work I mentioned to one of her friends that my girlfriend was 6 1/2 inches. When my girlfriend found out what I had said she angrily broke up with me. All the 7 1/2 jokes stopped and her friends got really quiet around me. I always figured they were just insecure.

I hate hearing the phase "The Male Ego", because it usually only gets used in two ways. The first is by a guy who is beating himself up because something is legit bothering him, but he feels like the fact that is bothering him is a sign of fragility and weakness. The second is by someone else (usually but not exclusively a woman) trying to downplay the validity a man's feelings of hurt or outrage by saying that it's simply his "fragile male ego". The former is a case of a guy being too hard on himself, the latter is just someone being a condescending jerk. To use their own terminology, wasn't she basically dick-shaming the guy? There are 5 pillars to a successful relationship/marriage. They are: Lust (the initial "spark") Admiration Sympathy Respect Trust This isn't about size. It's about respect and trust, i.e. lack of both, as indicated in the first set of comments. Lack of respect to keep something like that to herself, and broke his trust that they were on the same team (she cut him down in public to another, undermining the relationship). Engagement was doomed. Her NOT realizing this and being mad at you shows how selfish and unaware she is. OP, you dodged a bullet. You are not the problem, she is. Let her go (mentally), and let your self-doubts go as well. This isn't about you, it's about her and her inadequacies. A good partner will always be concerned about your pleasure in the bedroom, as well as other aspect of your relationship. Bedroom pleasure for most men is easy, while (from my understanding) not as easy for women, but you have to want it as well. The phrase “a gentleman doesn’t kiss and tell” is a very appropriate statement. This statement really should apply to everyone. I feel sorry for any woman he is with, as she will not be able to tell him if she is unhappy with their sex life, as she will know that he will storm off, cheat, then ditch her, for doing so. This reminds me of my own experience. My, then at the time, gf and I had thrown a house party. We had something going on in every different room to keep people entertained. There was video games, music, movies, food, alcohol, and even recreational fun. Well, about 2 hours in, my gf was drunk and she was going around to people talking about her ex. How he was a better lover and that I just wasnt as well endowed as him. I made up for it in other ways, but what she missed and wished for, was her exs member. It was so humiliating. It hurt me so much. I went around and apologized to people and they felt so uncomfortable, that people were leaving. I went to my room, closed the door, and laid on my bed. My gf comes in there, talking to me, stumbling around, slurring her words trying to get me to talk to her. She didnt know I had heard her... pretty funny, huh. She left me alone and came back in about 20 minutes and wanted to have sex, but I just pretended to be asleep. It messed with me for a long time. We eventually had a talk about it but the damage was done, and she didnt remember much of it because she was so wasted.

It spread through the store like wildfire. All these women I did not even know were walking up to me and winking " 7 1/2 inches aye". I confronted my girlfriend about it and she acted like it was no big deal, and told me stop being insecure. I figured I was going quit that place anyways, so I measured her lady split top to bottom, I said fair is fair. The next day at work I mentioned to one of her friends that my girlfriend was 6 1/2 inches. All the 7 1/2 jokes stopped, and her friends got real quiet around me. She broke it off with me after that, and I quit and went to work for Circuit C__ty. I found a new girlfriend there that actually knew my ex. She was a very short and slender brunet. But my guess is that he broke up with her because he had an inkling of how she was and noped straight out of there. She needs to do alot of work on herself before she tries to involve anyone else in her life And it was also a subtle but equally huge red flag that in the absence of an explanation on why they are splitting up, everyone immediately assumed and could believe that she cheated on him. Maybe more people than OP realized knows about her thoughts on his size. The disrespect was only a part of it. Another major issue that led to them breaking up was that he then knew that he wasn't her first choice, that she wasn't fully committed to him, she settled for him and she would cheat on/ leave him for the ex as soon as the ex is back. From then on, he will always feel inadequate and insecure and wouldn't be able to devote his time, energy and resources to her thinking that she will leave him for her ex or someone similar if the opportunity arises. In other words, if she told him the same thing in private, the result would have very likely been the same. As long as he has doubts that she is with him only due to lack of better options and as long as the ex keep being a threat, the marriage can't survive. It was also why whatever she said about his other qualities didn't help because she failed to eliminate the ex as a potential threat to their relationship and that she still has a reason to leave him for the ex if the ex wants her. Can't get married to someone who you don't believe is 100% committed to you.

We never will know why her previous ex dumped her but it is not beyond the range of possibility that it was over similar character flaws. I can guarantee that if she doesn't make the effort to work on herself she will definitely have a divorce in her future. OP really dodged a bullet here. It's a cliche but in this case I think the saying "Everything happens for a reason" holds true.
