UPDATED: GF's Daughter Claimed I 'Touched' Her, Now It Was Proven Untrue, GF Wants To Come Back..

We've been going out for the best part of 2 years. It was going amazingly well and because of lockdown, we moved in together. She has just the one daughter and I always thought we got on well.
Last week, I got home from work and I noticed her and her daughter we're not in. I didn't really think it was strange, but I then was contacted by the police asking me to go in and see them which I did.
Story 1:
UPDATE My (37M) GF's (34F) daughter (13f) f-lsely ac--sed me of s-xually as--ulting her. Now I'm proved innocent, my gf wants to reconcile but I'm not sure I want to?
Story 2:

The problem here is really simple: do you think your daughter could make that shit up? No? Then there is no way I'm believing my son. It's as easy as that because the other option is believing a person who might have sexually abused someone for years. Just because he is your son he doesn't get the "Well, maybe she liked it" treatment we give to victims. You are innocent until proven guilty, but when there is sexual abuse the line becomes much harder to see. When she ended up telling the truth the damage was already done. Would have I sayed it to the journals before I had proof? No. And this is the big problem here, because if he was innocent (and he is here) if the word is spread around there is no going back. She should have to be prosecuted for what she did, but many countries don't have this type of law. It's just a sad story

My take ... The son was in an Ivy League school. No small feat to begin with. This family has money. That is half the problem. The entire extended family would oppose the daughter facing criminal charges when she is just 13 years old. And depending on the state, a false police report dealing with a child can carry a felony charge. The girl, would end up in juvenile custody until she was 18. A pretty harsh punishment for a child who can't even process the ramifications of her actions. So what the hell do you do? One, lets cut the BS. The OP did this, but if anybody here doesn't think this was a direct result of his Stepmother giving the OP pure hell to punish his own child, you are insane. She did this and the father finally broke down and followed suit. You want to start making amends? Divorce the stepmother. Two, you say the stepdaughter is disinherited. BS. Mom is going to look out for her daughter. And mom is going to do behind the OPs back when doing it. And if you think she actually wrote her out of the will ... you are insane. Reason number two to divorce the stepmother. When it comes to her daughter's interests, they will never match the OPs. If anybody is written out of her will, it is the stepson. Not her daughter. Additionally, now that the bio-father has custody of the daughter, he can now ask for child support. Which he would be granted. And guess whose money would be paying for said child support? Yep, OP. Three, two people need to have a conversation with the son. One person he trusts to asks him the straight forward question of what he wants to do from here. The second is the OP, to tell his son that he has every reason to be angry but the anti-depressants aren't the way to go. Redirect that anger from depression to a more constructive outlet. That he won't be the first man to half to rebuild from scratch and he won't be the last. And then you tell him the stepmom and stepsister are out of the picture. Gone with the toxicity. You and him are in it together. You just need to know what he wants to do moving forward. And yes OP, you are going to financially support whatever it is he wants to do constructively with the rest of his life. That is how you start to fix things. Not the beta male/female shrink who doesn't have a clue what the son is going through. Not the crocodile tears from the step mom. Not the false assurances that the stepdaughter is out of the picture. You make amends by redirecting all your energies toward your son. And one other thing. It is time to move. Move somewhere that nobody knows you. Too many bad memories in that home. Sale it or burn it to the ground. Your choice. But burning it to the ground might be more therapeutic and would definitely send a strong message to your son that you are standing by your convictions to support him.

But what is the option? Obviously it’s terrible and vile, but there’s literally no way of stopping people from being terrible and vile. If so we wouldn’t have actual rapes of small children or people being brutally murdered. Obviously vile and terrible women exist too, even if the most serious crimes are often committed by men. But then what? We shouldn’t believe any woman? The justice system doesn’t just take everything women say at face value, they do a full investigation to collect evidence etc. But the justice system isn’t perfect, which is why we have falsely accused people on death row or that have already lost their lives through the capital punishment. Obviously the evidence and the investigation need to be correct and thorough. But remember that the ratio between falsely accused men and women/children/men that actually get raped is isn’t nearly as close as what many men would like to claim. It’s far more likely for a woman to get raped, than for a man to get falsely accused. The justice system isn’t perfect, and I don’t really think this flaw can be fixed. We would need some sci-fi level of equipment to look into people’s memories for it. Or start having cctv covering literally every centimeter of the earth. In the meantime - yeah it’s downright heinous to accuse anyone of anything they haven’t done. Maybe teaching young girls to not do those things unnecessarily would help a little, just as teaching young boys to never touch a woman without her consent also help a little. But the bigger issue still remains - some humans will always be terrible people.

You looked at the horrendousness of the crime and that completely obliterated your ability to consider that maybe she was lying. Because of that you've now completely obliterated any trust or confidence your son may have had in you. You're dead to him. I would say as soon as he can go it on his own be prepared to never hear from him again but sadly because of what you've done him being able to make it on his own is now severely impaired. Backstory: I (23M at the time) was living in a small town where everybody knows everybody. My ex (21F) reported me for assault while I was still dating her. I'm an avid Pokémon GO player and in a small town, you need to be in groupchat of fellow small town players to complete raids together. News spread of her accusation and everybody scorned me, made threats and some local gang members even tried to follow me home on a few occasions. I couldn't go outside without someone trying to kick my ass, call me an offender or insult me and my only saving grace was the Pokémon GO group chat. They knew that I wouldn't do something like that and offered to keep me company outdoors but I eventually gave up on that because I didn't want to put them in danger. It's been 3 and a half years and the police investigation has turned up nothing but it's too late. I'm labeled as scum and nobody wants anything to do with me. I haven't left my house in years and have no friends or relatives I can move in with temporarily until I can find a job out of town and move close to work. I have groceries delivered to my house and work from home. It's enough to get by but without the opportunity to start from scratch in a new town, my life is basically over and I never even got to live it. I can't afford lawyer fees and my ex creates new phone numbers to make group chats where she bashes me with her friends so I can't even wait it out because it never stops. I don't know what I did to make her do this to me but it's clear that I won't be excused. TL;DR: Assault accusations are no joke. Please be careful of who you hang out with, women can ruin your life with one sentence.

I was similarly accused when I was 17. The girl confessed she made it all up during the investigation. The reason? My gaming collection was, and still is, extensive. She thought she could take it all were I arrested. Here 23 years later, the accusation is still on record even though no charges were ever filed. I found this out when one of my friends had a background check done on him. This also brought me up as one of his associations. It absolutely floored me. Thankfully, we had been friends throughout the entire ordeal so he was well aware of everything that transpired. I think even the guy conducting the background check was surprised that an uncharged accusation popped up. After I spoke to my mother about it, I found out that one of the investigators just "knew I was guilty" and really wanted me in jail. This messes with you forever. And even then they are assumed to have wanted sex, because they are male. and in some countries, a man beinf forced to have sex with a woman against his will is not even legally considered a rape because of how rape is defined in law. No. This is about the fact that the system is so stacked in favour of women, that if a woman is caught on cammera beating up her husband. While he sits there and does nothing, she gets to play the victim, keep her job and be lorded as a hero. While the man gets fired as a wife beater scum bag, gets fired from his job, has his reputation and his entire life destroyed. Why? Because the woman abbused her position of "being believed" to lie about what he did to her. The most public example of this is the Jonny depp, amber heard situation. As the system stands. A man is not allowed to even deffend himself against crazy without being destroyed. While a woman is socially allowed to do whatever the hell she wants without consiquences. That is not a healthy or tennable social situation. Nore is it any form of equality between the sexes. Things ARE improving, because women are starting to face legal consiquences for these kind of actions. But the fact that women are so publically portrayed as the only victims that matter, while men don't matter at all, is slowing down the approach to true equality.

All his childhood friends rejected him and the neighborhood knows as well as the town! That means he can not show his face in his neighborhood where he was raised and his home town his only choice is to move far away!!!! So the people at the college knows so his best bet is another college and if they dare mention the reason he got booted out that is slander I THINK check with lawyer!! If it can be slander then have him talk with the dean or perhaps best go to the college admissions office about keeping quite say they can say family emergency!!

That story could be an incel phantasy (see how good man are accused and only with luck not ruined). Even if true: You are overly dramatic, his life is NOT ruined - it is a severe blow but the young man can recover. Father could do another round of telephone calls to his friends and the lumanaries in this town - if it is a small town or a certain neighbourhood. The good news is: he can recover, it is not like a bad diagnos or a dealy accident. Or the son getting addicted. Father should also talk to the pastor and influental people in their church, if they are active in one. The prudish stance on teenage sex would indicate that. Last but not least the father should have a video on youtube explaining the situation. (not good for the 16 year old but she brought this on herself and unlike the 13 year old of story 1 she should have understood what she was doing, and considered herself mature enough to have sex). With a watermark and a disclaimer that they will sue anyone and have youtube take down their channel if they take footage from it. (so not anti-women groups can abuse the material for their own purposes). Or the father and mother (of the 16 year old) could travel to the college and son tries to assemble the people that were his friends and aquaintances and the mother ! explains the situation That is important, because the father could be suspected to side with his son. The testimony of the mother is stronger. OP states that all his childhood friends at home knew, so then it was talk of the town or their social circles. If it had not happened, the son most likely would have moved to another region / state after graduating, likely into a city and no one knows of that story there. He would only return on the holidays and then his reputation in the town is of little importance. it is important that he clears his record at the college - in person, because he might meet these future graduates later in his career. His record (that he was a suspect and in jail) will not come up in job interviews since he was cleared. The father seems to be wealthy, or financially settled - so he can support the son with legal action to prompt the college to take him in again.(some hints about interviews on Fox, local TV, etc. if the college seems to be unwilling to make sure he will be admitted next season. And he and the stepmother can pay for counseling. Now and when he is back in college. If the story is true - and happened in 2020 - then there most be online learing courses in place so he could do something, if only to have it easier when he returns which may be emotionally draining in the beginning, when he tries to restore his standing with his peers. Son has lost one year, he knows jail from inside - he will need to find a reason for that delay in his resume (If it is noticeable, and he cannot speed up things, I would use a white lie and state it was a family event, parent needed help etc.). Who knows - the battle scars he received may add to his growth (like having an understanding / compassion regarding the prison system). I wonder to what degree the daughter was interviewed (by her mother) when the claim come up. And how prudish / hypocritical can a household be that a teenager had sex with bf, and _thinks_ the parents could learn about it (how ? that sounds lame, only if she would be pregnant, and OP stated nothing like that. If someone saw the young couple and would alert the parents - they would know it wasn't the stepbrother. all of that makes me think that is fiction. If not - how childisch / idiotic can a 16 year old girl be ? It does not reflect well on the mother, the stepfather too - and if they went to church on them, too. At best the 16 year old was so immature that she thought _this_ was a way to stay out of trouble. (aside from the ethical considerations, and what that would mean for the marriage for her mother, it is also plain stupid). Or she grasped what she was doing, and ruthlessly went ahead (but then it still was excessively stupid).

Rape is a SERIOUS crime, literally among the most heinous thing a human being can commit to another. Falsely accusing someone of that should give the person an equivalent sentence. @@LinneAzalea I admittedly wrote this in anger- but my point that such a situation was allowed to present itself. The whole fact that they called him in when this happen was bad enough, but the mother not only trying to 'pick up where they left off' and trying to apologize/not for her daughter's actions- It boiled my blood. Women have for MANY years been suffering because of things like that happening, and now that it is finally being addressed and handled, there comes THESE people who are making the false accusations and ruining peoples lives. A school teacher (Who I will not reveal for privacy reasons) took away a girls phone and she spread lies about him s*xually assaulting her, the teacher was eventually fired, and committed suicide. This disrespects years worth of progress and now that attention is finally being drawn to a very real issue, this shit is happening- I mean what the fuck? The fact that the daughter (to my understanding of the post) faced no criminal charges irritates me further- yeah, she was manipulated, lets say that, but she knew what rape was and what it meant- There was only ever going to be one end result, She TRIED to ruin this guys life, and should be in juvie because of it. Maybe I am reading into a situation that isn't present, but my point is that she made a conscience decision to destroy her mother's relationship (which honestly, I imagine those two hating each other later down the line now) but faced no repercussion for it.

Story 2: If you really think that him missing out on his year of school is the big issue here, then you're even more of a damn fool then I thought you were. You believed the words of your step daughter over your own son. Put him in jail on a bogus charge without even looking into it and refused to bail him out. I can only imagine the pain that he must have went through, having months worth of sleepless nights, terrified that if word of his false charge got out, the other inmates would torture and likely kill him. Wondering why his father hasn't stepped in to save him. IF he should go back to that school, his time there would be hellish. Likely getting jumped on the regular, girls wouldn't want him anywhere near them, teachers making his classes way harder, or impossible to pass, random passerbys calling him a pedo, or maybe even telling him to kill himself; it would be a nightmare. And you let the one who started all this go. Showing him that you don't feel bad about her breaking the law and ruining his life. You can't protect him from what he supposedly did, but you can with her? I really hope that he gets the help he needs and then some. IF he gets back on his feet, he'll likely need to move to another town to have any hope of a fufilling life, and I highly doubt he'll ever want to see you again. And no one would blame him.
