Never underestimate the Twilight Prophet.

At 50:31 opponent has no choice since Obeka has both menace and is the ring bearer. Exploring to 4 power might have actually given them the option to chump but was a pretty losing proposition for the opponent either way. Looks like a fun decklist, that top deck against Jadzi was incredible

I'm currently working on building a commander deck with obeka at the helm. She's one of my favorite characters in magic with how unique her abilities are. Can't wait to try the deck out when I'm finished.

hell yeah, one of the cooler commanders ive seen recently

At the beginning of my plays in Historic Brawl I was angry about the players who scooped so early when they did not have a good starting hand or were a little behind. Now, after countless games in historic brawl, I am afraid I am becoming one of them. I do not scoop when I have a mediocre starting hand and such but I scoop immediately if I am too much behind or if I am facing a blue control heavy counter deck for instance. Yeah, this format is mostly messed up.

We're so-beka.

One interesting upkeep card that I'd like to have seen here is the Alchemy exclusive enchantment Signature Spells. It ETBs seeking 2 instant/sorcery spells with cmc 3 and on each upkeep, you choose one to copy and cast for free. Prismari and Kolaghan's are already great options on their own, but we also have the very evil option of Stone Rain, or Maestros Charm to drain 3 on each upkeep.

I’m glad someone else thst follows him appreciates the more fun exciting alchemy options. The avoidance of digital only cards when everyone else uses them seems to be a disadvantage. Free stone rains…. Hahahah speaks to my Ponza soul.

@@AkodoNoEyes Yeah, I sometimes see people hating on Alchemy content just for being digital and "not real cards." There are some outliers like Poq, but his digital-only nature is not what makes him annoying. Maybe it's because I've mostly played digital-only CCGs, but I do enjoy seeing what the designers come up with in this type of setting. Signature Spells and Oracle of the Alpha are really sweet examples, for me.

@@ender4101 exactly!!!! Arena is a digital game of a physical game and it makes sense to let the designers cook. The Rakdos wheel of fortune released recently, oracle of the alpha, key to the archive, signature spells, the various lands that let you pick a color, the legnedaries (thst Boros legendary thst spawns Boros creatures is an insanely fun commander), are all amazing cards in their own right. Alchemy is good and a fun format but the cards for Brawl and Historic is where it’s at for me. It’s an unique design space. It’s an exciting opportunity to make stuff thst wouldn’t otherwise exist. People are allowed to play what they want, but to not play cards and hinder the experience and deck for principal is just banal.

From my experience Oracle of the Alpha doesn't actually shuffle the power 9 in it just puts them all on top. Also I've never played against a Shana deck that wasn't just a generic bant control deck

Hi! I’d recommend adding a bank job to this deck for anyone reading. It gives you tons of treasures, card advantage and puts stuff you wouldn’t draw into graveyard to be cast for free later. Amazing 3 drop in this deck

@@LegenVD tried it today on the ladder with a 52 % win rate, so not good for climbing. But still with a competitive edge!

I love Charmbreaker Devils, not the best card but definitely explosive if left on the board. I made a deck that paired with a bunch of X cost spells that could be cast for 0 mana and OHK the opponent.

That match against Tameshi was really silly. They spent the whole game removing obeka and they still weren’t able to deal with the other permanents giving you value

I was going to make a meme Vial Smasher Sakashima Shrines EDH deck, and then boom, Obeka, then boom, LVD makes the deck I gotta turn off updates on my brain chip

Just curious, but is there a reason you didn’t include any spells to make her unblockable?

I'm mostly counting on Menace and removal to clear a path. We do have Access Tunnel in the manabase, but adding too many unblockable effects makes it less likely that we actually have the upkeep payoffs or sufficient interaction to get in a good position to begin with.

As Foretold is in there, but outside of Crashing Footfalls in green there are no Suspend cards on Arena sadly.

Xanathar in the upkeep section is a bit misleading. Yeah he triggers on upkeep, but his ability doesn't scale with Obeka...

I ran up against her…. With a Roaming Throne out…. She was getting 7 upkeeps a turn thanks to the aura that made her unblockable.

Kind of upset obeka came back. I loved the 1 off time based legend with a unique mechanic. I miss when we just had 1 off "oh thats interesting" unique stuff instead of having to revisit everything untill its boring.

Hi LVD. Personally I have zero interest in Brawl (or anything else with alchemy), but I cannot always tell if this is a brawl video beforehand. So when I start it, and see it is Brawl I close the vid immediatly. I heard that this is bad for the algorithm (short viewer retention) so i don't know what is better for you. People not clicking onto the video at all, or people closing it after 2 seconds? Maybe you can better mark the format your videos are in. You often do this, but not always.

Nice list, only disagree with Xanathar. Yeah, it's a good annoying card, but it isn't really in the "extra upkeeps = more value" theme.

Gavin from Wotc thinks it's pronounced the way I said it, so unless you have an official source with the correct pronunciation I'm gonna go with that. If it were written as "Obekka" I would pronounce it differently.
