    I got myself a mini plus and liked it enough to get one for my dad. I intend to give it to him as a Christmas gift with Onion OS and roms preconfigured.

    I think it is a great gift! I hope he likes it! The software can be intimidating at times, but if you have it all configured for him and show him how to set up his favourites section, he should have no issues :)

    I just received mine a week ago, and after installing Onion OS and getting my own roms on my own 128 GB micro SD card, I've been playing a LOT of games on it. Everything from Tetris and Lock N Chase for Gameboy to Bloody Roar and Future Cop for the PS1. It's worth it for anyone with the patience to tinker with it.

    Nice overview. I love mine. The Miyoo Mini (plus) community is amazing. So supportive and the romsets/custom OS are awesome. The drastic support is just a cherry on top for a device that was not supposed to play it.. kinda like GBA doing N64 ports 😂 Brilliant.

    While I admit I don't really care about achievements these days. I can definitely see the draw for the retro achievements functionality. To my knowledge there is some cloud sync functionality to it, although I don't know near enough about it that I can speak confidently about it though.

    I can't recommend this thing enough, as long as the individual I'm talking to wants to configure their own card. Mine came with this low quality card that causes performance issues eventually, and some kind of weird old version of the OS that didn't let me do everything I wanted to do. But once I made my own this thing is near perfection.

    Scooped up the original Miyoo mini some time ago, as soon as the Mini plus was available i had to have it my collection because for it is, its an amazing portable emulator! But similar to you i find myself reaching my my Deck or Ally for just about everything in terms of portable gaming 😅

    It's one of those things where, honestly... It's perfect for the bathroom haha. Quick level or two and off you go. But as highlighted in the video it's a great low-cost, low-risk (theft-wise) I think. I find it's easier to pull myself away from the miyoo than the steam deck or ally as well. In the sense if you have a quick 15-30 minute break at work, it may not be worthwhile to bring along the deck as you might be tempted into getting into a AAA game or something more time consuming, this losing track of time haha.

    I just ordered mine 2 days ago. I bought a ps4 a few years ago, but the pay to win aspects of the modern games are really tasteless and also I grew too accustomed with my PS1 which i played for the majority of my life. Really can't wait to try Tenchu 1, 2 on this handheld and Revenge of the shinobi as well.

    Glad to hear you are getting one! It is kinda funny, games went from being ridiculousy hard, so that you would have to keep renting games to beat them. Now, they are significantly easier, but people still fork over money for microtransactions for seemingly little to no reward. I wonder if games had microtransactions back then how much worse off we would be.

    Are these Retro handhelds coming up with anything new this holiday season, usually every year there is a new flagship model?

  • @WinDeckTech

    @WinDeckTech

    There are a few new devices out there. Such as the Anbernic Arc. As well, Ayaneo announced their entrance into the retro DMG style the other day. No word on specs at all. But given their past I can see it being a premium design (ayaneo). Wishful thinking for an OLED panel but I have no insider info on new or undisclosed handhelds. Personally, I'd say if something doesn't fancy your interest, either specs wise or personal checklist wise. Just wait 6 months, so many new devices will be out. Or, due to the low cost of these I would say get a cheaper but serviceable device for the time being (if it's a need/want right now) then when your perfect device comes out, either sell the old one, or gift it to a friend or loved one.

    @@WinDeckTech Agree, I've noticed over the past few years these handheld companies would introduce a newer model with a more powerful chipset and other upgrades around this time of year, I was just wondering if anything new is coming, I strongly believe the next releases will be worth the investment and should play mostly all the retro consoles flawless or at least near to perfect.

    I'd love one of these, an especially if I could get the game Ranger X off Sega, Or Sega Saturn one. But unfortunately, I don't have a computer, so I doubt if I order any of these retro consoles, I'm seriously doubting I'd get to actually use it to it's full potential.

    If you buy from places like Ali express and even Anbernic, they will offer game carts pre loaded. Obviously it's a bit of a grey area but typically they will give you a decent library with a lot of fluff. Some sellers will stay away from Mario games as they think that will keep them safe, others don't care and will give you every Mario and pokemon game under the sun. Obviously it would be ideal to have your own access to the internet via a PC, but it can be done without.

    @@WinDeckTech appreciate that! I had one from Anbernic picked out, kinda reminded you of a psp, an it was all metal, RG405M, is this one more powerful? I don't know a lot about these lol.

  • @WinDeckTech

    @WinDeckTech

    5 ай бұрын

    No problem! The rg 405m is similar to my rg505 it has the same chip, so performance wise you can play up to PSP games really well and GameCube. It can play some PS2 games as well, however that is pushing it. I do have a video on the rg 505. The main difference between rg35xx and the 405/505 is the rg35xx runs a lighter weight OS and is basically all routed through retroarch (emulator front end). The rg 405/505 run android instead, this makes them much more versatile. They are typically easier to use, or more familiar feeling at least to an operating system you'd be familiar with. If you wanted to take a look at performance and how the OS is laid out, feel free to skim through this video on the 505. Don't pay much attention to the device itself, just the performance and user interface. The rg405m, is indeed metal, it may ever so slightly help with temperatures, but it is not advertised at all as doing such. It is just for a more premium feeling device. Finally, the 405 has a 4:3 screen whereas the 505 has a 16:9 So square vs rectangular. 405m would likely be more pocketable and the stick layout is much better. Let me know if you have any questions! kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJ2YzqODebyqZbQ.htmlsi=k5xJahB793AKJ78M EDIT: Sorry! I mentioned the 35xx in here, I meant the miyoo mini

    @@WinDeckTech I'm about to watch the video, you so kindly added in with your reply!!! God Bless!! Appreciate it so much! So I believe for now, I'm probably sold on the Miyoo Mini. Maybe a change of mind once I see the link. Where you seem to already have the Miyoo Mini. Would you happen to know if in the Sega section of games, do they happen too have Ranger X? Cause whatever I do manage to get, I'd like to have that game especially. My father, before the big divorce an all, that's a game he got me, on one of the last birthdays I could remember having, an all the family still under one roof. I'm now 33, an now know, I had Anxiety even at 3 or 4 years of age ( I could be wrong on age ) but I was really small child when I got this, as an early Bday present, an the game would have me tore all too pieces trying to play it lol. I've just recently in years remembered the actual name of the game, thanks to KZread an seeing a video of it. I never managed too beat it, an now Dad's been gone since November 27th 2018, an would kill to have that actual chartrage that he got me, but that's not possible lol. I'd just like to have at least a digital copy on a handheld. But yeah, If I can find a model that's user friendly enough, that plays, Gameboy, Color, 3DS, PlayStation, GameCube, GameCube mostly for Sonic Battle lol, I'd be a happy camper. Again, you've been great, an appreciate all the help an feed back.

    No problem! If you do go with the miyoo just know that it is limited to PS1 it won't be able to do GameCube/PS2. As for Ranger x, I can confirm that my miyoo mini plus came with it from geekbuying :) I can't imagine they would change up the selection of games. My version is the one with a 64gb microSD included. Edit: also sorry to hear about your father, I completely agree that video games can have a huge impact on our lives especially during tough or hard times

I have never been able to game on a phone personally, especially if it is high accuracy platformer it is just a non-starter in some cases. But, getting something like the backbone or Kishi could be more of a worthwhile investment for mobile gaming.
