Because this is being rendered...IN REAL TIME. Lets be honest, we've seen movies with worse CGI than this, meaning we now can have games that actually look as good as movies. We can now have high graphical fidelity AND increased story potential. The possibilities for great things have risen. Why not take advantage of that?

If we got a game, i'm fairly sure we'd be disappointed. Movie, however, could be incredible.

This is what you achieve when you have the right people working. Everyone's shitting on unity about it's visual capabilities without knowing it's actually them, they are not skillful enough to create such stunning visuals. The engine itself is always capable of it.

Nice to look 5 years behind and see all the improvements offered at the time. I Remember watching this and imagining the endless amount of worlds. It all starts again now with Unity's new tech demo in 2022. Welcome to the future, I guess.

This should be put into a full 90-120 minute movie, and also a 8-12 hour game doe.

This needs to become a game or movie. Plus, it would also help with Unity's image. People think Unity is bad, and it isn't. If they pulled a Crysis to show off their own engine, and it was based on this, everybody would be happy, and people would stop hating Unity once they realize what it can do.

Woah, I just experienced the future.

Should make this a small feature film showing the character's exploration into the unknown. Wouldn't need voice acting as the ambient/environment noise and character's breathing worked well.

Most of you here comment how UE4 will do better? So what? I bet most of you don't even know what an engine is. Unity is capable of the same things as UE4; the main difference between them is the difficulty to create certain effects. I personally believe UE4 is a bit easier with that kind of stuff, but in reality these both engines are THE SAME. Both of them allow you alot of control over your GPU, and they both are able to do the same things. So please stop with the "UE4 is better than Unity". Both of them are great, it just comes down to preference.

I'm not 100% convinced that a 980 can run this at 1440p to be completely honest. These visuals are stunning, but that comes at a cost. Another thing is that this video just feels like Unity trying to go "SHEE GUAIS, WEH CAN HASVHE GUD GRAPSHICS!". Unity is a great engine, but not because of it's graphics. It's strengths are in its open-source attributes and its ease of use, as well as its stability and just general good accessibility. Perhaps, as this video proves, it _can_ be an amazing graphics engine but I'll wager that it takes far more effort than its worth. If a developer wants stunning graphics, they choose an engine that suits that need, while sacrificing other things. Demonstrating to people that Unity _can, with enough work_ look just as good as Unreal 4 or Cryengine 3/5 shouldn't really be saying much when you consider that. With that said, this demo was pretty good. Unfortunately it still falls firmly into the cinematography of a video game cut-scene, but its getting there. (Way, WAY too much camera shake. It's like Michael Bay's obsession with explosions and lens flare-- you can have too much of it)

We have an RTX 2080 Ti and Titan RTX now. I'm sure Adam would be able to be rendered decently and be playable. Would be great if this was still in development but sadly it has been disbanded.

5-15 i guess, the animation is maybe done with Motion Captureing.

People underrate Unity, it's pretty powerful with the right team and the right assets, I prefer Unreal myself because the realtime shading comes with the entire free engine, and you don't have to program it all into the engine. But people underrate Unity a bit too much.

well, it isnt graphically astounding, but stills a good short film.

munz mania think about it like this multiple people worked on this demo, not just one but also on different aspects of it like animation, sound, texture, model, art, etc.. when doing game design don't focus on attempting to do everything master a single aspect of it

i guess that's the real reason why it's called unity.

Animation probably yes, Modelling kinda difficult since Unity doesn't have a Modelling Tool.

The focusing is really disturbing. Hope they learn that and fix it.
