United Embarrassed, Forest’s Tweet & Liverpool’s Next Boss | Stick to Football EP 27
Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet, with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Jill Scott.
Following Gary’s exclusive interview with Anthony Gordon where the Newcastle winger revealed his love of meditation and visualisation, the team talk about how they prepared for their own matchdays.
With VAR at the heart of controversy surrounding Nottingham Forest’s loss at Everton last weekend, the panel discuss whether Forest were right to criticise the officials decisions on social media.
And drama is never far from Manchester United, with our guests reacting to their FA Cup semi-final penalty shoot-out victory over Coventry after surrendering a 3-0 goal lead.
We also see the return of our Super 6 predictions - has Roy managed to claw some ground back on Gary?
Finally, we end with Community Questions where we discuss who should take over the manager vacancy at Liverpool from Jurgen Klopp this summer, is it correct to ban FA Cup replays and who is the greatest English player to play abroad?
If you liked the episode don't forget to let us know in the comments and if you want to listen only you can catch Stick to Football on all major podcast platforms.

Love this show so much, but I think they’ve not read the room on the Forrest situation. I’d say the majority of fans (regardless of if you like Forrest or not) agree that at least 2 of those were blatant penalties. The decisions this season have been so inconsistent and it’s costing teams big time. Also think they miss the plot on the United result. Yeah United downed tools against Coventry after being 3-0 up, but give Coventry some credit. These things happen in football. They happened when SAF was at United, it’s happened to Arsenal under Wenger. The fact is United is in a final against the best team in the world and they don’t just beat Coventry to get there.

These will never read this. But I’m honestly baffled by the backlash forest has got for their tweet. Nev idea of dealing with ref issues is sending the manager out to moan. But where has that got teams in the past?! Forest have every right to put that tweet out. The root cause of all this is refs are so bad this season. They are performing with no consequences. Has to be the greatest sports show ever this lot, absolutely brilliant every time
Gary, whenever you are showing little video moments to guests or each other as part of the discussion could you add a mini screen so that us viewers can also see what it is you are highlighting. Thanks

Henry's anthem back in the day, if you know, you know. (Keano does!)
When Wheatley came on for his debut last night, Bruno, came over to him, and said quietly, "I've got 9 mins, to try and get you a goal" and he tried his best to get the ball to him, in those 9mins before the whistle, and the young lad had to tell someone, straight away how good Bruno was with him
"I was drinking, no word of a lie, PINTS of cider, about 6 of em" breakfast in Cornwall Gaz.😂
Wrighty’s comment about the shooting practice is spot on. I remember watching Dybala warming up at a Champions League game against United and he was hitting the target every time and fully on it. First chance he had during the game. Bang, goal.

This bizarre defence of useless officials and the worthless PGMOL is embarrassing, why are you acting like Forest put out a tweet supporting Adolf Hitler? The game has been sliding into disrepute for a long time because of constant, unbelievably bad decisions from officials, it's time to get nasty and do whatever it takes to affect change. The majority of fans are in agreement, the game's gone to absolute pot because of them and we're sick of it. You might find it boring Jamie, well we're starting to find the Premier League boring because of the farce it's turned into. The technology is there to eradicate this, so sack and don't employ proven dunces to use it. Problem solved.
The sign posts on Carras t-shirt are names of rave clubs in Liverpool from back in the day. Glad to say I’ve been to them all 👍great days.
That coventry offside was literally drawn over Wambasaka’s foot lol
Right here for it. 8am of a Thursday before getting on with work.. One of my 5 a day.
its unreal how good this show is
Bravo on the million! Been some some great shows and so much better than most footy pods..
Keane implying bruno isn't a winner because he's hardly won anything but what about kane, whats he won? Nobody would say he isn't a winner. You can have a winning mentality but not have won anything and Bruno absolutely has that winning mentality and appetite.

Amen! It’s a team game after all.
The first 10 minutes of this is always gold.
Gary doing stretches in the middle of the plane is the most Gary thing I’ve ever heard ffs
Wright's line "Kevin Keegan won the Ballon D'or twice with a perm" brilliant 😂😂 brilliant show everyone 👏
Forest well within their rights, tweet isn’t even controversial…..there’s been rules for years we’re reds can’t be involved with clubs they support or their rivals……besides the fact where’s there’s power and money there’s always corruption….human nature……how many leagues in the world been charged with things like this Gary???? You don’t think it can happen here???
VAR should have a panel of 3 like boxing, if all 3 agree then you can overturn the on pitch decision. If one disagrees then it's not clear and obvious and play continues.
VAR suggestion - no intervention except for obvious ref error. Each team gets to challenge one decison per half. Less intervention the better IMO
Roy keane liking the old school rave group inner city is something i never thought i would hear lol
Gary’s reaction to Jamie’s Valencia mention was hilarious
Forest got robbed. Neutrals stand with them because every week its the same story. This week it was Forest. Next week it will be another club. Refereeing in the Premier League is beyond atrocious.

Forest didn't get robbed ... It was 1 penalty that is definitive the others were 70/30 against and their general play didn't warrant anything out the game.
Wonder how long it takes for someone to notice the youtube award on the shelf
I'm sorry but VAR is perfectly fine everywhere else. It's only in England that we see all this controversy. It is highlighting the utter incompetence of English referees, nothing more, nothing less.
Great credit to Carragher for knowing John Charles. Good to have someone with a bit of historical perspective. Shame he didn't give Neil Franklin a mention, but you can't have everything.
The defending of refs and pgmol the other day by these 2 were embarrassing

I don't get why the PL don't look at Rugby Union to fix VAR. Ref and Video Ref conversation mic'd up and everyone can hear the thought process in real time.

Give him a chance at managing as a no1. put a tactical coach as his assistant and give him a exp head as another no2. think he would do great. Doubt he would ever get the chance, he's considered to be too volitile. Threatning to beat up de gea and maguire can't have helped. LOL

The week doesn’t feel the same when they miss a week
The way to fix VAR is get rid of the guys in the studio and allow the ref on the pitch use it if he’s unsure about a decision. It’s a case of too many cooks
@Ben-gt1vf

Fact well said! Its an absolute farce that there is one, let alone two or even three ding dongs up in a studio watching replays all game. There are also two ARs and a 4th official mind you. Between the 4 of them they should be able to figure it out down there 😂
The warm up is the best bit😂😊
The hypocrisy considering Nottingham Forest. Would ever Sir Alex Ferguson, Keane and Neville accept Man United being denied 3 clear penalties like that? Especially when they were fighting for the league? They would be fuming all over the place but now Forest should just shut up and take it? The hypocrisy is unreal.

It's not even this game in isolation. The whole season has led up to this point for Forest. Why do you think Forest appointed the likes of Clatternberg to begin with? Because the results were so shocking in the first place!
