Unite Windrush stories - Tom Gardner

This year marked the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush, the first ship to arrive in Tilbury Docks after the Second World War. Unite is proud to celebrate the Windrush generation as part of Black History Month. We celebrate the dreams and success of those brave young people who persevered despite the racism they faced. We will continue to campaign for justice for those affected by the Windrush scandal.
Generations of black people have made a positive difference to the lives of many people in our society through their hard work and dedication to not only public services but across all industries. They have contributed to the Trade Union and the Labour Movement in Britain and continue to be involved in Unite. These are their stories.
This project was initiated by the Unite North East, Yorkshire and the Humber BAEM Committee.
