Unique Details in Mafia 1 (part 6)

Ойындар

some of these are 'original details' so I made comparisons to the GTA games of it's time. Mafia 1 deserves credit for being so innovative in 2002

One of the best games in gaming history. Not just "a" game. It was way ahead of it's time in terms of realism. Tires filled with air, side markers, you can seat in the back, use a gas station or public transportation. And it actually takes some time to open and start a car - like in real life. And of course the way at least some of the people looked. They were REAL, it was RTCW quality. In GTA 3 and even VC we still have "computer people" like they're from the 90's. They look like they came from some old Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 2 or Half Life 1.

ive been playing Mafia 1 since i was a child (im 22 now) and i still keep finding new things about it this whole time, i thought the bumper getting stuck in other cars was a glitch, but it turns out it was a detail!! this game never ceases to amaze me!

Mafia: TCoLH was the GTA IV of its time, it was also humiliating computers of its time like GTA IV did . Huge respect for showcasing buggy sides of the game - car textures sticking to each other is still a pain in the butt for me, to the point of soft-top cars flipping out of nothing during car chases to make me die without my fault. Mafia II recently showed me an interesting detail - I was in the tunnel saw snow plover sparkling from rubbing against an asphalt. The other day, I was driving a bus in the summer, my roof rubbed against a cornice in Oyster Bay - and it sparked well again! 2K Games has a soft spot for sparkling metals.

The turning is what made me realize how technologically amazing the game is I'm so used to cars staying in scripted lanes for the player (IE turning into the one lane and following every law to a T) that when I played Mafia, I ran into every other car because the drivers you run into do completely random and unique turns. They're idiots, just like actual drivers in real life!

Hey buddy, I absolutely adore your content and your true honest appreciation to these little things. I have a soft spot for tiny details like these too, so I feel obligated to tell you that cars in Mafia are bouncy for a reason, it being leaf suspension (similar to what you see on horse carriages) that didn't use any shock absorbers that was popular back then. I know you mentioned it briefly but the creators went to such extents to change the bounciness in the manta coupe (based on the Phantom Corsair concept,I highly reccomend you read more about this fascinating concept car) , which uses more modern McPherson's suspension in the front resulting in a less bouncy ride. Keep making these vids man!

Yesterday I left a huge comment here but I don't know what happened but it was gone! Great video, once again, more new things that I wasn't aware of. Those turning cars are more sofisticated than Formula 1 cars. Really defy the gravity rules! About the weight, this is something new for me. If I go back in time I remember trying to drift with Paulie and Sam in the car and it wasn't possible to slide so long. Great catch! I never got to see an headless guy in the game, specially beating up a cop to death! Really impressed with the clutch work that you found. I thought it wouldn't be possible to do burn-outs, something that people were asking themselves for a long time.

Burnouts had been added in Vice City already, you can do donuts with no need to pop the tires but only on rear driven cars. I was so fond of playing GTA VC and Mafia back in 2002 and on, have played the definitive editions of both games recently and so many good memories about the originals have revealed.
