I like how Mafia 2 has a very high amount of detail for a linear open-world game

I loved the window rolling detail in mafia 1 in gta 4 and 5 I always thought about how stupid it is to break a window to shoot out of the car

In GTA V if you hit the aim button in a vehicle with an unarmed hand the window will roll down instead of breaking open. But even with that said the level of realistic details that are interactive with the gameplay in mafia games is light years ahead of any GTA titles thus far

in gta 4 the gun it's out of the windows when using it, so it will not break the glass and instead roll the window down like mafia 1

Mafia 1 and 2 had so many small, but great details.

Finally someone who noticed the bullet casing and magazines remaining on the ground in the first Mafia, what an amazing detail that still lacks in most of modern games.

Yeah but im today's game, it would cause bad performance issues especially when the new GTA comes in, if they put this kind of detail and you know how GTA games work, players will literally need to fire a weapon every single time, take note that it is an open world game that you can still play even after finishing the missions, imagine having that kind of detail, bullet and casing never disappear and will stay at the same place everytime

There was a gta san mod where the casings didnt dissapear with time but there was a limit of amount so if you kept shooting they would dissapear in order. In modern game they could do something like that

You missed one detail: in Mafia 2, when you flip over on an open topped car, you die instantly.

The fact that this detail is in mafia 1 from 2002 is mind blowing even though it's nearly impossible to notice on flat ground and difficult to notice in an incline.

you missed 2 really good ones in Mafia 1 Definitive Edition. 1: the radio fades out in tunnels, and 2: if you're in a cafe or bar near the monorail, when it goes by all the dishes in the place start rattling.

Mafia 1 including remake and 2 are the most underrated games! The time era the details and just generally how incredibly fun they are.

I love Empire bay city and it feels much larger than it actually is. Lost Haven is great as well and I have lots of nostalgia for that one as well. I never really liked New Bordeaux.

When I first saw working wipers during rain in Mafia II, it blew my mind! I don't remember any open world game that has this feature, it's so realistic thing. Not even GTA, will see about the upcoming 6, if they learned it.

Not really, it ran pretty great back then, it was one of the most beautiful games of that time (character faces looked pretty amazing when I first played it). Its just that gamer`s these days are not used to a good optimization and skilled people working on games, these days developers hire people mostly based on their real-life background for a "better diversity" team, rather than for their skills.

The original Mafia was a masterpiece. Not only had a game, made in 2002, lookalikes of Joe Pesci (Paulie), Andy Garcia (Tomy), Marlon Brando (Sallieri) and Michael Dougles (Norman) the german version also had the correct voice actors, who also dubbed them in their movies. It was also one of the first "real" open world games. Shure, you needed the missions, but anything between, was up to you. I still play it today 8from time to time) Sorry, but the remake wasnt the same anymore.

Am I the only one whi LOVES driving on dirty roads without asphalt in video games? They're so satisfying, especially when your car leaves trails

Also, in Mafia 1 you can't shoot out of the window with a two handed gun, if you are the driver. You can just look around with your camera

I bought the Mafia Trilogy in a recent Steam sale for 1000+ INR, and it's worth it. After GTA, I can definitely say that the Mafia game series is mind-blowing indeed. ❤❤

Hey, I had both 1 and 2 mafia games. Lot of fun . Like driving more than shooting.

For the last one there, your car was actually out of gas. It wasn’t stalling on the incline.

You forgot in Mafia 2 you can try to fix your engine in the car hood when it gets alot of damage.

That’s awesome.

I only play with Stalker where the guns sometimes jam. I think for an old time period that would be a great detail, but it may get on some players nerves so I would have that optional. If I were to play the upcoming Mafia game on realistic level, I would expect to have gun jams.

The Gun Jam mechanism is a Fun way to have but not Ideal all the time. It needs to be balanced with AI behavior too. Imagine if Max Payne had gun jams, GTA would look completely off of u loose guns in firefight. RDR2 had a good balance.

The NPCs trip and fall during snowy weather. The wheel cup spins off the tire when going at high speed

Considering Take Two own 2K and Rockstar, I only hope R* gets inspired by some of these details for GTA 6. Idk why Mafia never caught on with people, the details are amazing

Because Mafia games never got the budget, marketing and development time that GTA games got. Mafia 1 was unknown to so many people (lack of marketing budget), Mafia 2 was butchered with so many cut content and forced to be released as soon as possible by Take-2, Mafia 3`s story had nothing to do with OG Mafia games and was too repetitive so not many people liked it and received many negative comments, and Mafia 1 Remake actually kind of suffered the same thing as the original Mafia 1, it wasnt really promoted much, there are still people to this day that dont know about this Remake. I`ve literally replied to a guy in a comment just yesterday, when he said that Mafia 1 deserves a Remake, I`ve told him that Remake exists lol, turns out he thought that Mafia: Definitive Edition was just a re-release and not a Remake.

Oh also in mafia 2 the hubcaps fall off when shot too

I am thinking of getting Mafia 2 Definitive Edition for my PS5. I have read that the game crashes a lot even after patches! Is that true or are the people posting the complaints using mods that make Mafia 2 Def Edition unstable? I love Mafia 2 so much!

Mafia games have some of the best details, but never knew it was this ridiculously good. Also I've always disliked 3, couldn't even finish the game due to a permanent game breaking bug at the second last mission. But now I've a slight change of mind.

Mafia 1 was so ahead of its time. Too bad the studio went through so much turbulence with the following entries in the series. Mafia II could've been a lot more, and III was underwhelming at best.

The last one is a mistake. The car has no gas, that's why it keeps stalling. Happened to me with the Crazy Horse when chasing the UFO in free ride. Driving to the nearest gas station took me like 5 minutes or so.
