I agree, clear and to the point! I’m choosing this radio as a starter, the simplicity of the unit and the price point are the selling points for me. Thx alot for the review!

I have one coming this week from Amazon...... 30 dollars...... Uniden is good quality electronics.

I have the Midland version of this unit. Almost the same except my belt clip is metal. These things eat batteries so get the rechargeable ones (Ni-Cad) to reduce headache. The reason 11 meter handhelds do not get out very far is the limited ground plane. You are the ground plane and if you are not made of metal, well....

Hey great review, I've got one coming from Amazon, but I'm wondering if the power port is for charging nickel hydrate rechargeable double A batteries, or just a power supply, as an alternative to batteries... according to the listed features, it shows it as a power supply, but never mentioned the ability to internal charge batterys.

Going to get one off Amazon. Nice review

Thank you. The radio is simple however doesn't have greatest range but that is to be expected of a handheld CB radio.

Thanks for sharing. I've had mine for 2 months and decided its "OK" at best. Really wish it had a scan function. Had best reception when on the highway, not so much on 3rd floor apt with good line of sight to highway. Got traffic at night not day as expected. Would probably spend a few more $ for a better one.

No it’s good. No need for scan. You gotta go on balcony or just slightly outside the window for receptions.

Get a mag mount… (external antenna).. you’ll need an adapter for the connector.

These hand held radios are better than you think, the catch is the antenna, I ordered mine with an auxiliary 4ft telescopic antenna, the difference between the rubber coated short factory antenna, and an aftermarket long antenna, is vast... the radio will receive signals considerably better. I would say 40% to 60% improvement.

It will be hard to say but because you say there will be some woods and some hills, it will more than likely be very close to the same range. You're looking at probably a +1 mile range at best.

Yes it will work while hiking. As long as the other person has a CB radio as well, they will operate on the same frequencies.

I'd say average about 1 mile, 2 miles if the conditions are just right. Sometimes I can use it to listen to super bowl channel 6 or 11 while in the middle of nowhere.

President Randy II is the one for that, best portable especially after adding the FM mode. The voice compander is really great.

good radio just a shitty stock antenna that probably wont even go a half a mile thats why im going to use my uniden bearcat antenna

Not tuned for the radio. Use stock antenna or you may destroy the components inside.

@@junt6205 I have the 51 inch HYS antenna and can talk across town easy.

Do not buy that piece of crap. Righ out of the box didn’t pick any any signals even next to a truck stop.
