It is a good walkie talkie for the money. I bought mine at the local truck stop when they had a special sale on it for about $45 N.I.B. Since it has a BNC connector for the antenna, I put on the Cobra telescopic antenna. Yes, I still treat it as a line of sight unit but now there is a 30" antenna. I also put in the rechargeable Ni-Cad AA batteries. A $5 adapter allows you to use the unit with a common magnetic 11 meter antenna for automobiles. That with the Wilson 12v plug in for the auxiliary power source in your car and away you go.

If you don't want the noise use the squelch control. Only strong signals will break the squelch. Too bad CB radio is not as popular as it once was but now with FRS/GMRS it's become almost obsolete. A CB radio base station with SSB attached to a decent 9' antenna mounted on a tower or roof will let you make contacts at much greater distances. Even with 4 watts. Good review.

I'm from Latvia and it's harder to find new cb radios which are not very big and cheap because a lot of new cb radios coast over 100 euros and old cheap ones are pretty big compare to PMR446 radios and most people who are not really into two way radios, but are in situation in which they need a radio they would chose cheaper, smaller and more simple radios and what don't need a license. And if there would be more radios like this maybe CB radio would be more popular in my country and other places too

Purchased one because I accumulated so much point on my Loves’ reward card. I’m yet to hear anyone come on the CB radio. Every time I turn it on, I only hear the noise but never heard anyone on it.

Can't find a schematic for mine. Is the Ext Mic connector just 2-pin, meaning you still press the transmit button to talk, or is there more function to this.. like getting a mic with a button that will trigger the PTT function? And where the heck do you find a microphone with a subminiature plug?

Where do you spend $5 or $500 on a new radio they all transmit the same power don't go cheap on a good antenna that little handheld hooked up to an Antron will do a nice job

Something wrong with marietta Georgia. Can no longer get cb radios to work not even short wave. Maybe model's i have are outdated? Uncles mad we both tried to use a vintage cb radio with an antenna. It melted for some reason?

@@OnTheTrailRadio He said shortwave as well so it's definitely not the equipment, he just doesn't know what he's doing and is setting up the antenna wrong and in an RFI field of noise, probably next to a junk power supply or transformer lol.
