    If you ordered the same 42t rear sprocket and are keeping the same 17t front, the bike is gonna be the same dog as it was. lose one t up front to 16t sprocket and add 3t un rear, so you end up with 16:45. You'll lose a bit of top speed, but the bike will be much more of a riot to ride. I changed just front initially, but after swapping the rear, I really fell in love with 950 and never looked back to original crap ratio. Nicely done on the rest tho :)

    I love you garage videos! Your enthusiasm is very contagious. I had to halt my bike building project (DR750) to finish some renovations on my house. But I’m almost ready to get back in the garage now nearly a year later. So nice to see the bike back on two wheels again.

    Dual disks don't really improve braking power, they just improve endurance (i.e. reduce wear and, most importantly, fade but you've got to be a real savage to get fading on a rally stage with an adventure bike). You *may* want to switch your master cylinder, though

    It should be the same for a 990 I believe. The only thing I still have to check is if the front wheel clears the rad/battery at full bump (and if the sump guard is still clear of the floor) as the new fork will let the wheel move about 20mm further up than before.

    Regarding the 250SX forks ... will you have clearance issues under full compression? Ie is the wheel going to hit your radiator? If you have increased travel, but have shorter outer tubes, the front wheel will come up much higher than it was ever designed to. At the very least the front of the bike is going to be much lower under full compression ... From what I’ve observed, dirt bike forks & adv forks are the same overall length, but the adv forks have longer outer tubes - ie longer under full compression - vs dirt bike forks

  • @chrisnorthover7582

    @chrisnorthover7582

    3 жыл бұрын

    Correct - fork outers are 30mm shorter than stock - when the bike is assembled I’ll remove the top caps and check clearance at full bump. If it’s a problem, I’ll work out how to solve it then, but for now I’m going with the mindless optimism approach 😁.

    Hi I have a problem that I am at a loss with, I will try to explain I had a 2018 KTM 690 Duke which I loved , after a while I wanted a bigger bike and bought a 990 Adventure 2012 29000 miles It is near immaculate, however not long after I bought it , the throttle started bogging down and at cold start up it would cut out up to 10 times before it held an idle, then when you pulled off the bikes response would be all over the place, it seemed to improve a bit when fully warm So I took it to KTM Plymouth where it had a valve clearance service and the mechanic there said the problem was the throttle bodies which he replaced This did not solve the problem and when I took it back he basically said he didn’t have time to look any further suggesting I take it somewhere else and quoting that after 2014 all bikes have to be plugged in This obviously wasn’t what I wanted to hear after spending £1450 with them So I took it to another mechanic where it has been for the last 10 days and have heard nothing Please can you help me in any way I am now nearly £9000 into the bike, at am at the end of my tether, surely something can be done it’s just the throttle all over the place Even if I have to have it rebuilt I am at the point where I have to follow this through and for the short time it was working I thought I had found the perfect bike for me I look forward to your reply and once again can you help or point me in the right direction. I can get the bike to anywhere I just want and need my bike working Kind regards Mr Justin Putbrace

    Justin, you may not like to hear it but to get that money back you might want to look into part the whole bike out. You may be able to make some profit off of it. After that I would buy the carbed 950s. Fuel injection is unreliable and overcomplicated
