KTM 990 Engine reassembly

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We had disassembled the engine, changed most of the internal spare parts, removed a ton of aluminium chips, now we can finally put all back together.
In this video you will see the reassembly of (in order of appearence): oil pumps, crankshaft, gearbox , main motor case, balance shaft, generator, clutch (a new one), water pump, cylinder heads (with new valve stem sealings) and the complete cylinder groups on the motor case.
In the end motor timing, valves clearence and the valves covers closure.
#ennepiuunomoto #bikelife #ktm #moto #rimontaggiomotore.
Syl has done the valve clearence adjustment all by herself because she won the bet: • Scommesse importanti #...
We are not professional mechanics, just simple moto enthusiasts who tried to save a worned bike which otherwise should have been demolished
Now we have to put all the bike back together to see if all the jobs has been properly done.
We can't wait to try the bike!!!
See you in the next episode
Thanks for watching
Guido and Syl

Sai come costruire una semiautomatica partendo da un blocco di ferro sai costruire un motore KTM 990, sono sbalordito, molto bravo.

Very helpful video! I am currently rebuilding my 950 engine due to broken piston rings and a worn out front sprocket shaft. I am a bit unsure which engine bearings to change, all of them seem to be in good condition. Which would you change out?

Thanks! Nice to hear it! Since you've already open the engine, in your shoes I'd change main bearings and connecting rod bearings, even if they could look perfect...and then, I'd even change the ones of primary and secondary shafts, because they are affected by high working stress. About the other bearings, you should check each one and decide case by case... They must roll really smooth.

Ciao, molto preciso complimenti.

The KTM engine must be a very good if even women from the land of Taglioni , Lombardi, Busso and Colombo prefer to work on it rather than Ducati and Aprilia engines ! I think I will have to scrap together some money and buy one!

Everything started with a KTM 990 Adventure, we bought the bike for travelling and we falled in love on that engine, then I sold my Ducati 749s to buy a 690 SM with broken crank bearing. The 990Adv was THE bike and the 690 was my fun bike... But Syl started using the 690 as her primary bike, so we bought the SD as fun bike for me🙂. Now I'm looking for a 690 enduro to pair the adv for Syl.

After a lifelong experience with bike engines mostly Yamaha twins TRX and TDM I thought the pinnacle would be a Ducati V2 in a Cagiva Elephant but now I am looking for a 990 SMT so I every much understand the fascination with this engine, even more than the bigger KTM V2s. What ads to the equation is that KTM just announced moving the fabrication of the twin engines and a big part of the engineering and development to China, with the current political climate a would rather place my cards without sounding silly on genuine European Engineering and fabrication as long as it possible. @@ennepiuunomoto
