----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Banished is a city-building strategy game focused on careful resource management and survival as an isolated and growing society
The player guides citizens of a remote community of outcasts to grow and maintain a settlement through a command economy. The game focuses largely on the citizens of the player's town as individuals. As the designer states in a video, "the townspeople of Banished are your primary resource. They are born, grow older, work, have children of their own and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy and well-fed are essential to making your town grow as you have to deal with relentless weather conditions, fires, depression, starvation, an aging population and more.

My city reached more than 100 years only with wood houses, never lost anyone to cold, but of course, population was totally educated and had a bunch of cutting camps that allow me to stop cutting trees to allow the forest to grow back, while i keep cuting in others. My problem is that i was running out of space on the map :P.

Yeah, that's the beauty of this game. There are a ton of approaches. The problem I run into was storing all the stuff. If you're wanting to go for a long term game go for a large map.

When you say surviving "days", you mean years, right? There isn't 12 months in a day.

Why do your graphics look so good? I've got mine maxed on a beefy pc here and it doesn't look anywhere near that sharp! Is that a mod? Let me know if you would, I just started playing and would love it to look like that!

Is it possible to maintain a relatively SMALL village with say only 30 or so people and keep it alive but NOT continue to enlarge or expand?

you can get a healthier population by having a larger variety of food, place down a market and hire a couple of vendors. the vendors go across the map to find resources and place them in the market, when placing down a market you can see a circle which is the radius of the market. everyobe within the circle goes to the market to get resources, and because of the vendors there is more variety which will make your citizens healthier. hope this helps

Wood is a renewable resource, but stone becomes scarce very quickly. You can burn all the wood you'll evern want. The stone house also requires a crazy amount of wood to build. I prefer to have a mixture of houses, with stone in town centers, and maybe occasionally a stone mansion very far from firewood producers. Your wood producer is extremely far from the houses. People will have to walk far to fetch firewood and can't work while they are doing that. Why build a useless and expensive town hall early on? My first town killer was scarcity of food. I can't imagine people actually dying of starvation in reality. They might be unable to work productively, and go wander off into the woods looking for mushrooms. This would have a negative feedback on productivity. Then I got Cholera despine not having any nomads ever. It outbroke in a forest. Perhaps there was a nomad drunkard there. I saved and reloaded like 40 times while going through this with low number of deaths.
