The fact it has a red handle also makes it a good option for a survival knife. Good to have higher visibility colors for survival tools. Makes them harder to lose when dropped.

I noticed these knives at HD after your review of the serrated model. I'm not a fan of serrated edges but this one caught my eye. If I needed another knife (cough, cough), you could probably fly under the radar with one of these as it would be lesslikely to be seen as a weapon. Splatter some paint and spackle on that bright red handle and no one would give it a second look. Plus I do prefer a hollow grind, I find it easier to maintain and I don't do the kinds of things to my knives that would take advantage of the extra edge strength of a Scandi grind. Thanks Brian.

I was at Lowe's the other day and just happened to walk down the "insulation aisle" where I saw a really cool looking knife, the Toughbuilt Insulation 1-blade utility knife. Same exact idea but I do have to say it's a much better looking knife than the Milwaukee, at least in my opinion. It also has a sheath but it has a clip built into it already. I couldn't actually handle it since it was in a package, so I decided not to buy it but made a mental note to myself to send you a message and say "Hey, Bryan, you might want to check this out"... which I promptly forgot to do of course. It's $15 in my location. Laughed out loud when I saw the title of this video and then again while watching this "low budget option tool" perform better on every single test than most of the high dollar "survival" knives you've ever shown. Thanks for giving me a good chuckle on a Saturday afternoon and for helping me to remember why all of my "high end" knives are sitting in their boxes in my closet while my "budget option" knives are in my pockets and bags.

Lol. A knife is or should be first and foremost a knife. The best knife for whatever you do, is, wait for it, the knife you have. Could another knife be more effective? Probably but if you don't have it the one you have is best! Well it worked as a knife and it flys good as well. Nice review of an inexpensive knife that you could leave in a vehicle and not worry and it's there if you need it. Thanks Brian.

That blade size and shape comes from a traditional Scandinavian knife. Also Kabar made a knife with that blade with leather washer handle and aluminum butt. What you will figure out is its probably the best universal length, width, thickness, and point shape. I had the Kabar years ago and it got away from me, but that knife was good at everything. From slicing bacon or cheese, peeling spuds, cleaning fish, or gutting and skinning deer. Its not thick and clunky, its the sweet spot on general purpose blades, and looks like you could replace that plastic handle pretty easy with nice slabs epoxied and small rivits where the tang is notched. by routing out the slabs for the tang. I have done that on other knives and it works nice.

I have never owned on myself but had use of one from a friend. It has a bevel to the edge that acts like a very narrow wedge'. the company has been around for more than 130 years to my knowledge. I referenced it because so many young people worship it'. Thanks for asking.
