I love Milwaukee utility knives, I’ve been using my Fastback for 7 years now and counting, so I figure their Tradesman fixed blade knife ($14-28) deserves a review. For the reasonable price, I feel this knife would be useful at a work site or camp site. For recommended Milwaukee knives and tools, and vital prepping and survival supplies, check out the useful lists in the text description box below the video. Enjoy! :]

Regarding the steel type - Milwaukee uses AUS-8 for most of their entry level folders & fix blades, & D2 on their hardline-series etc. They tweak the heat treat to get more toughness than edge retention. There's likely less liability and returns I'm guessing with tough & dull blades vs. hard & chippy/brittle ones- especially since these are geared towards a wider audience than the niche knife-enthusiast community. So I'm thinking statistically an even higher percentage of guys will use these mostly as screwdrivers and pry bars and store them wet and all that good stuff

I bought one a few years ago for 15 bucks. The tang is also “full sized” and follows the contours of the handle. It’s a bombproof little knife. It’s a great Mora alternative for those looking for something a little different. Love mine. Thanks for the review. When I got mine there was nothing online about it. This knife needs a little recognition.

Although I have many "better" knives I still might have to pick this up. I like the blade shape and it seems good quality. I don't have much need for a knife a work other than scraping gaskets and cutting tape, but it would be a good tacklebox or glovebox knife.

Ive been wearing this knife on my harness for 3+ years and have used it almost daily. I got it for 18$ish at lowes or depot (cant remember) I would definitely recommend this knife to anybody who wants a good blade for good price. It comes razor sharp and holds an edge for a while. The main reason I recommend this knife is the durability

I’m my younger days I only bought knives that costs from $140 to $450. Now past retirement age, I spend less generally, however because of 3 decades as a builder and my love of the Milwaukee Sawsall I bought on as a novelty. Boy what luck. I love this knife. I use it camping, I whittle with it at home, and even keep on my hip while I am prepping for dinner, and grilling. The steel is strong enough to baton with and does take quite a lot of use before needing to be sharpened. 30 seconds of sharpening brings it back to hair slicing sharpness

I wasn’t paying $60 for any of the odd brand chinese ebay or amazon knives just for a daily work knife, so I picked one of these up for less than $20 full price at my local Ace hardware and I am thoroughly impressed for how cheap it is. The sheath is actually pretty good, the knife clicks in place and holds well but also pops out easily with just a press of the thumb. The blade style is a good all-purpose design, the handle is very comfortable even for my gorilla hands, it has a true full tang for maximum strength and hard use, has a steel exposed butt of the tang for hammering, glass breaker, and whatever else, and a lanyard hole for those who like a lanyard (which has a bunch of great uses). Really the only thing I can ding it for is not much texture to the handle but that is really not a big deal for the price, and even alot of expensive knives don’t even have any aggressive handle textures either so its not really a big deal. The handle is really comfortable and holds well anyways, and if you want more aggressive texture you can probably just stipple or wrap it yourself just like people do to handguns. This thing is an amazing deal, and if you ever do lose it or manage to destroy it you can just pick up another one from your local hardware store on the way home from work! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@@WeAllJuggleKnives I almost went for the Lenox version but in testing it didn’t hold up near as well to really heavy use, and some of them were destroyed with heavy use. The Milwaukee is similar but seems to be an upgraded version with a thicker and much stronger blade, so I went with the Milwaukee version. But I’m guessing the Lenox version would still be great for light to medium duty use with its slightly thinner blade profile. What I am most curious about though is if the blade steel is the same or if the Lenox uses a different kind of steel that might hold an edge longer or have some other advantage? That might be a good idea for a video! Milwaukee vs Lenox knife edge comparison. Comparing their grind profiles and which one holds an edge longer and which one resharpens easier. They might be made of different steels. 😄

My fast back was 14 dollars and that thing has been a work horse. When I had just gotten it we were on a sod job and didn't have enough sod knives. I figured it wasn't meant for this but it was a really inexpensive knife so I thought hey what the hell. I'll just use this and replace it this weekend since it will be ruined. So I used it to cut in sod all day. Handle and lock were full of mud. Blade scraping on rocks and sand all day. Wore the edge totally dull. When I was done I just through it in the bed of the truck. Didn't even clean r It off. Sat wet and muddy for days. Well my daughter needed a cheap knife she could take camping so I figured I'll see if it was still any good at all since she would probably just lose it. I washed it off in the water hose with dawn and then threw it in the dishwasher to get it spotless. After that I sharpened it a little and oiled it up and no shit it's as good as new. You can't beat this knife at that price

This kind of multi purpose knife is the best for EDC in my opinion. I don't like the idea of carrying only for defense or only for survival or other thing. I want take the most use of the tool. Talking defense in my particular martial art we use the edge inwards. Sometimes I see a knife made specific for that and I don't agree. What I like is a neutral handle so I can choose the edge orientation. This one works well in all grips I like.

In all honesty most people who use a knife like that dont care type of steel it is, as long as its cheap and sharp enough to do the job.. As a mater of fact Im one of those people.

I prefer to buy a good inexpensive knife because I can buy a lot of them for the price of one premium knife perand most of the experts. That you see that actually used knives will agree, or I should say teach, that. One is none 2 is 1 and 3 is better. Even a good premium knife. , manufacturer name inserted, can break on you. However, there are a lot of good inexpensive knives, like this one,. That will do just fine for what most people want to use them for. , I e camping, cleaning game, et cetera et cetera. Yes, if I could only actually take one knife with me that I had to depend with my life? I would spend the money on something with a premium steel. Just out of common sense. But, I don't know too. Many people bull that really are in that situation. One last thing to consider. No matter how great the knife is, or how much money you spend on a premium steel, if you don't know. How to sharpen it it is just a nice paper weight eventually. I've found that the lower cost knives that use 420hc, Aus-8, or 8cr..steel is a heck of a lot easier to sharpen and hone with a basic sharpener(work sharp, etc...), than a premium steel. Thank you for taking the time to actually use the knife and show it.I appreciate your review.

Milwaukee does have a few blades with AUS8 and D2 , but they usually say it on the box because it is a selling point , they are around $50 , so I would say that particular knife probably , if your lucky , has a really cheap 5cr or 7cr13mov garbage can steel , I personally would never buy a knife that just says "Stainless Steel" on the box for blade steel ... 😅🤣🤣

I agree, I don't think they know the steel, only China knows :D But, I would buy a SS marked knife, depending on the price.

If i had to choose, id take an Ozark trail all day. I found one of these(milwaukee)in a parking lot. Put it on some wet stones. Gave it away. I see it hanging up in the same place in their house to date. Typical commercial branded garbage.
