He actually was gonna give this track to MC Hammer for His debut on Death Row Records. He was often reminisced on his childhood and struggles he felt people could relate to. He wrote and recorded this a few months before he died. He was writing strictly poetry up until like his late teens

You're some of the first to point out Tupac wanted to be a leader. He had phone calls that were recorded from prison where he said he wanted to get all the big rappers and gangs to come together and stop the violence and raise money all over the country. We now know he was under FBI surveillance and his mom was a panther as well. I'll never forget I wanted to do a report on Tupac in school and my teacher told me after class, "he was just a rapper who got shot" 😔
