unboxing & review of the Glarry GT502 acoustic guitar (a very cheap guitar)

Музыка

This is the unboxing and review of one of the cheapest acoustic guitars on the internet, the spruce front folk acoustic guitar Glarry GT502, the big brother of the Glarry GT501. At the time of publishing this review the guitar was available in the UK from the Glarry Music website for £48.99. At this price this is the perfect acoustic guitar for a beginner who is not sure if you will continue with the guitar.
For the price this is a very descent acoustic guitar and it sounds and plays really nicely. The finish is lacking in places where you can see rushed construction with bits of glue and messy lacquering. So cosmetically this isn't the best guitar, especially if you look at it closely. Some of the fret markers are a bit dodgy, but for all this it plays nicely for the price and using the instructions in the videos below this Glarry acoustic guitar can be made to play very well, so it'ss a great instrument. It would be ideal as a first guitar because it's easily good enough to learn on, but not so expensive you would have wasted a lot of money.

I recently purchased the same color Glarry. I chose not to put on the pick guard. It makes a good first guitar for a beginner. I bought it as a practice guitar so if it gets a bump or scratch, I won't shed any tears. I liked mine so well I bought a Glarry tele style electric. Great review.

@@guitar-academy Yes. I lucked out on the set up. I did change the strings. I made slight adjustment of the neck. There is on fret I need to polish. Sound is great. I owned a Japanese made Fender Tele for 25 years I bought used. The Glarry is lighter. I like the neck shape of the Glarry. For $75 including shipping I can't complain.

I agree. I have to make people aware of the flaws to be balanced and some people are more interested in how the guitar looks than how it performs. This guitar is way, way better than the guitar I learned on and I have been a professional musician for the last 30 years, so anyone wanting to learn guitar could easily do so on this guitar. 😊

@@richardsmith5477 New strings should should sort it or improve it. If you are good with you hands you could replace the bridge or the bridge and the nut with bone ones. They are only cheap but make a major difference to the amount of sustain you get. The bridge is way easier to replace because it has a greater tolerance. Just in case though . . some Yamaha's already have a bone set, but only the high end ones. . . 😊

I take it they rely on your expertise by sending these guitars / musical instruments on to you expecting you to vouch for their authenticity. You should be getting a lot of money for that (in my humble opinion) PS you said well when you pointed out how important it should be how the guitar performs rather than how it looks Anyway, great review as always Sir 👍

Mine came out of the box with some fretbuzz on the first fret of the E string. This is my first guitar and from my research I understand that the action must be low and I need to adjust it. Im afraid of damaging the guitar, is this a fix I can perform or should I take it to a professional?

It can easily cost you more that the guitar cost to get it fixed by a luthier, so get a quote first. Sometimes it's as simple as the fret causing the buzz isn't tapped in properly, but sometimes it's more complicated. this video might help kzread.info/dash/bejne/anaHz9GemM2do7Q.html

I picked one up to keep in DADGAD tuning . It’s not perfect the high E string on the third fret buzzes and the truss rod can’t fix it. It’s not worth the money to fix it. Having said that it plays nicely and the sound is not Terrible . As a whole it’s a good value I wish the fret did not buzz but for $59 bucks I can live with it .

Look closely at the fourth fret, it might not be seated properly. If it seems like there's a slight gap under it, tap it with a light hammer putting something soft around the hammer and making sure the strings are out of the way. (tap gently) 🙂
