Unboxing - $55 Ultra Budget Acoustic Guitar | Glarry GT502

Музыка

Today I bring you a very ultra cheap full size acoustic guitar from the people at Glarry Music who have sent this to me (I have not bought it) to demo for you.
Glarry Official Site: www.glarrymusic.com/
And here is the product link for Glarry GT502 Guitar:
www.glarrymusic.com/glarry-gt...
At around $55 shipped there is not much you can complain about with this guitar. I found some minor issues with the high action. It can have issues with open vs fretted tuning as a result, but for $55 it is well worth having as a beater to throw in the boot of the car and play around the campfire.

I've seen so many demos on this guitar and I have to say this is the best one yet, you've really put everything into perspective and the demo is just outstanding, you really out done your self on this. you've given every little detail and all the sceptics. This demo was the best. can't beat it. I have a glarry coming in the mail now. i usually wouldn't buy a cheap guitar but you've made me want to try a lot of the cheapest guitars just to see how food they can really be compared to any of my expensive guitars. thanks for the demo and keep it up it's great. ~Nathan

Brilliant stuff!! It's amazing how the quality has improved with the less expensive options. I reviewed the lowest end Orangewood acoustic on my channel, and I was sad to learn that they don't ship internationally, so it's exciting that other companies have taken a different route. Love your playing, man! Great demo!

The ultimate festival acoustic ? Beats the hell out of my Sue Ryder Charity shop Chantry cutaway which cost £50 (in a sale should have been £60). It needed hours of work on the action to get anywhere near playable but I still class it as my finger cutter guitar - although I play it more than any other in my collection as it has a beat up look ! Perversely cheap guitars like this are not for the beginner but experienced players can work around their limitations. Just pulled one from "Wish" web site for a total of $36.09 USD total. It came almost exactly as yours did. on receiving the box I was convinced it was trashed inside. To my pleasant surprise it was in flawless condition (shipping condition). I tuned it up, and set the neck. I'll wait a couple of days to recheck intonation, and fret buzz, but so far it seems to be an amazing little guitar that I won't have a worry about if the kids wish to play it, or if I throw it in the boot, and take it off on adventures. Thank you for the review, and I honestly would NEVER had thought a guitar for well under $50 USD would even be tunable, or playable for that matter. Sweet wee bang around guitar, and I'll let you know how it climatizes to my humid home in S/W Florida, USA. Cheers Mate, and thanks again for the review of the Glarry GT502.

pretty cool for what it cost. I would play it for bit then when I put new strings on it adjust the neck a little bit tighter to get rid of some of the relief. File the sharp frets then see how much better it gets. If possible maybe even lower the bridge a tiny bit.

Can't grumble at the price . However, it sounded like it had difficulty staying in tune, and the higher up the neck you played, the tuning seemed to get slightly worse, which would lead me to believe that the compensated nut wasn't helping with the intonation. Did you check it at all for intonation? The action issue is an easy fix, that Glarry should do at the factory, but for a knockabout "campfire" guitar, its more than adequate.....providing the intonation issue gets resolved. Great review as alwayd mate!!

I purchased the 502 I played it for 30 minutes decided I would change the strings I started changing on the low E working my way across one string at a time when I got over to the A string pin would not come out so I decided to go ahead and try to low E string it would not come out, and yes I did use a pin remover tool but I kept on I popped the top off the pen so then I tried to get the other one out I could not so next I decided to go up under the bottom to try to remove the two broken pins, I was pushing with a flat instrument so hard I was afraid I was going to bust the guitar case so I never did change the other strings,I will have to use this guitar like a paper towel get rid of it when those two strings go out, it appears as if somebody put it together and they got the strings in a bind with the pins and made it impossible to get them out without tearing the whole damn thing up, so I would not buy the 502 cheap is what it is and cheap is what you'll get..... This was a brand new guitar the same day I received it I contacted Glarry they said they was sorry and told me a place that I could buy some new pins this was my third Glarry guitar purchase and it is my last hope this has helped someone do not buy Glarry.....

Check out the gs travel guitar by Harley Benton. Its a little bit more but if its your first guitar it would be a lot easier. To answer your questions the strings are less important as they need changing from time to time anyway. Yes it stays in tune. However I would not recommend this guitar for a beginner as the action is too high.

  • @trublgrl

I tried one for a while and it is a pretty nice guitar. As Chinaguitarsceptic said, the strings are fairy high, so it will be hard to play for a beginner. If you can find someone to help you set it up for your strength and style, you will enjoy it. It is a pretty well built guitar, with nice tone, not shreiky or thin sounding at all. If you or someone you know is handy, resetting the action is not too difficult, you can look up videos online. The quality of the strings does not really affect the tuning, it's more the quality of the machines, the nut, and the overall build. If you "Lock" your strings and stretch the strings as you install them, you will not have a lot of trouble with tuning. At any rate, you should be training your ears anyway, tuning is part of life, it's educational. An Acoustic guitar strap will come with a lace or cord that you tie in the space between the nut and the tuners. If your strap does not have this, use a shoelace or any soft cord. I'm proud of you for setting a goal and working hard to achieve it. Best of luck in your musical journey!

Sorry I give myself GAS all the time - but that's another matter :-) LOL The neck is a 22mm D radius - it's not tapered but it is nice and uniform and even. It is subjectively comfortable to play but the action is not something I would recommend for beginners as I think it might put some off. That's over 3mm at the 12th fret! Could be adjusted by shaving the bridge saddle.

No quams with glarry. They use their own brand and logo, they don't market them as some kind of outstanding heirloom guitar, they market them as budget or beginner options and for less than a set of good tuners or a set up at a luthier they ship out a guitar a beginner can actually learn to play on, or people can practice repairs and upgrades, cheap party guitar etc. I don't wish to own one, but I do wish I would have had this option as a kid, I could choir arrows off my first guitars neck

@@Chinaguitarsceptic Honestly it just looks like basswood like the rest of the body. If you notice on the inside shot it has no significant vertical grain pastern like you would see in even the cheapest spruce, and it has that pale hardwood coloring like the rest of the body around it, there would be a little bit of variation in color tone between spruce and basswood even between brand new cuts of wood. And its a little bit curious how on the top of the guitar you cant see the line separating two bookmatched pieces of wood like you would with even laminated spruce(this guitar looks like it has one sheet of wood used on the top). I personally have never seen that on a sunburst acoustic guitar even of the cheapest quality, being actual spruce that is. It wouldnt make sense to me why they would lay down a first coat of a "Natural" wood tone color, then burst the edges rather than just applying the burst on the natural wood itself. Sorry for the novel mate haha.

Makes a lot of difference. I've had some fret sprout on brand new Gibsons and Fenders, not unusual, and a pretty quick fix. With a proper set-up and quality strings, that budget guitar would make a pretty nice instrument. People wanting to try playing the guitar now have some decent, inexpensive choices they can make. Thank you for showing these 'budget' guitars, as not everyone can afford to start on a $1000 guitar.
