In today's video, I unbox a laptop still sealed since mid-2009, an HP EliteBook 6930p. Unfortunately the eBay seller I bought this computer from no longer has any stock of these units, otherwise I'd have linked the listing down below. Regardless, I still can't believe this survived all this time in its original box, but it's about time it got brought into the sunlight and appreciated after ~15 years.

Hah, this is awesome. What a cool find. I don’t think I’ve ever worked on one of these that didn’t have a floppy hinge or a dead battery! Still built like tanks though, wish it could take modern hardware.

Wow, it looks like a 15-year-old piece of history that has been well-preserved. Nice discovery! And it has a unique HP desktop background I have never seen on Windows XP before.
When I was high school my school had some of those HP EliteBooks brand new back in late 2009, although I remember the IT guys taking them in the library and having to install the full version of Office 2007 on it even had the OEM install of Windows XP SP2 which was upgraded to SP3 and replacing IE6 with IE8. A year later they replaced them with a set of 2009 MacBooks.

@@gamingballsgamingBefore we had the Mac's in my high school, mainly a bunch Pentium 4 IBM Netvista and ThinkCentre PCs with Windows XP and later model Lenovo ThinkCentre with Windows XP. They did keep most of the PC's around when they replaced all of the computers in one classroom with all 2009 iMac's.

I used to have a 6930p, amazing laptop. the P meaning it meets USA Dept of Defence specs for water and dust ingress. It can be used outside in rough conditions.
crazy how this laptop is 15 years old, time flies. Watching this on my Elitebook 840 g8
My uncle had one of these for years and then gave it to my sister for school use. It has windows 10 in it and works pretty well for its age. He used it pretty carefully over the years and the only things that failed were the screen latch and the power button. So they probably are the weak points. Overall great machine.
I used one in 2017-2019 as my primary laptop, when I was in technical school. I remember to play GTA San Andreas + Multi Theft Auto with it. I used it until the end of 2022 when I was in army. It had Core2 Duo T9550,4GB RAM, HD3450 256MB and 1440x900 screen. I still have that laptop and it still has a working battery. I also have an Elitebook 2530p, (It also has a working battery). I got those almost new when the company where my Uncle worked was going to put them to E-Waste.
I love the backlight touch key row HP used to have on their laptops during this era. I just installed windows 11 on my old g6 today for a laugh🤣 shocked how well it runs tho
I'm not a fan of HP laptops but I absolutely appreciate the delicacy and enthusiasm with which you handled this machine. The mid-2000s to mid-2010s is probably my favorite era of laptops in terms of features and design. These business-class machines from that era were just built like tanks, whether from HP, Dell, or IBM/Lenovo.

How can you not be a fan of hop laptops the mid to late 00’s hp laptops were far superior of there build quality looks etc
let me wear my *Can't believe no one bought this in 2009 shirt* before watching the video 😂
NIce, I bought the same on ebay... Changed out the CMOS battery & bought a $30 replacement battery on amazon.. works great hardware is solid ! Works great for my old XP games ! $59 dollars was a steal for old new stock.. wish i bought more.
6930p was a gorgeous machine.
Your not alone this would be amazing to open. Nothing like brand new old stock.
this machine will rock if recreated with moden day silicon and storage drives
I've got an elite book as a backup machine and u can say the thing is amazing. True you can't game on it and it lacks hdmi but damn its stable comfortable every os i try works and the battery is still superb! Now t to mention the neat keyboard light!
it's not just you, this is really awesome! what an awesome looking laptop, still has that older windows xp sturdier case design compared to the cheap plastic netbooks that were flooding the market around that time.
THis is unique find!!If I were You ,I will update the bios with the last version and will upgrade to the max cpu ,max ram ,max GPU(if it is on slot) and SSD!!
omg no way. This was my first childhood laptop and I acutally found the model name thanks to this video! Thanks so much!
These things were loud, hot, heavy, bulky and pretty slow. Now that I know this time has come and gone, it's surprisingly wonderful to see one of these things brand new. It's absolutely crazy that this thing is 15 years old now. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!

I fucking hated that little touch strip above the function keys, it was probably the worst thing they ever did but it was such a fucking good computer when it was new. You can get Windows 10 running on there and a stretch. Wouldn't recommend it but it will work, sort of.

not me looking this video with the great grandchild of thise (an elitebook 850 G6) really good machine, and after years of trowing it around in a rucksack it still works really well
I had bought one of this a few years ago second hand while i was in need of a cheap laptop, good to see old stuff on it's pristine condition
LETSSSSSSS GOOOOO FINALY I FOUND MY LAPTOPS BOX YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS THANK YOU SO MUCH
Since it's got 4GB of ram it should run Vista just fine. Heck with an SSD this thing runs Windows 10 just fine and even the fingerprint sensor works in 10,i was amazed when i actually saw it working. You could try to remove the battery, plug it in and insert the battery while the power cord is in and maybe you will get lucky getting the battery to charge. This method worked for me on some laptops, not all of them but some of them

I did try that, but unfortunately it’s so dead that the laptop doesn’t see it. It will need to be replaced.
my favourite notebook in life
That thing kind of reminded me of the laptops my school gives me, which are slightly newer, but still old. As business class laptops (Dell Latitudes) they have similar build quality to that one. Sadly I'm never lucky enough to get new-old stock laptops, so the used laptops I have will have to do for now.
After watching this video, I jumped on EBay and bought myself one. Definitely worth the price

i still have one of these, they are some great machines and the built quality is full 10/10. Unfortunately, they got pretty slow since new so are much resource hungry. I got one on 2008, my father bought one for our family. i will preserve this so that after a decade my children can experience the old technology.
I sometimes wonder why those boxes were never opened but on the other side, if they were, we wouldn’t be watching this video. 🤷🏼♂️
Amazing video. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful !!! 👌
It looks sooooo nice :0
Very interesting, I saw these on eBay too and considered buying one. I got a top spec Elitebook 8730w with the dream color display and core 2 extreme, would be nice to pair with that.
My dell e6400 atg had a core 2 duo p8700 processor, upgraded to the p9700 processor. It's a tank!
This was my first ever laptop back in 2013.
I've been watching this laptop on eBay for a while now. It turns out that it is still available, just that the seller relisted the item!
ngl this makes me wish I had one of these if the seller still had them in stock lol
I actualy got one of these recently they are really good laptops the sad thing is they dont have modern hardware. the battery in mine is somehow in good health too.
That drive has Lightscribe on it, you don't see that everyday.
Nice machine
HP released the G62 range not llong after these and although they had their problems with failng CPU chips that needed reflowing they were a much better laptop
As with a few manufacturers, the business versions are a better buy.
This was our family laptop after our windows xp pc broke for awhile
I have the same exact one, but pretty used. I installed tiny windows 10 on it some time ago and ran some low power apps, but now its just running unused. Any ideas what to do with it?
That white dot on the screen made me uncomfortable the whole video😅 Pretty Nice pice btw
I had one. I thought it was cool because it had the same Intel processor as the MacBook Air which just came out in 2008 and the Elitebook was a fraction of the price and more practical (MacBook Air only had a single port at the time). It was OK once Windows was booted but boy that hard drive was sloooow to load anything.
ATI 256mb ? That's huge for old games 😂
The least and only built to last laptop HP ever made.
This brings me back to middle/high school. We had like 7 or 8 carts of these Elitebooks. That touchbar was infuriating. The days before every student was just given a chromebook lol.
the most frustrating thing with old unopened hardware is that god forsaken rubber coating! beautiful machine from a wonderful time. shame that goop spoilt the moment a little for me

XP Preloaded despite Vista sticker, what the Hell?

Vista was incredibly buggy for a couple of years after it came out. A lot of people chose the "downgrade option" and had XP installed instead. I remember seeing it on a 2009 Dell laptop with better specs than this, and Vista was horrible even on it. I downgraded the machine to XP for the guy and it was fine. I didn't see Vista again until 2012, when my new girlfriend at the time had a Dell desktop with an A64 X2 processor and Vista. By that time Vista actually worked well. But I spent about $35 and put in a better CPU and more RAM, for which she was extremely grateful...
Aw man it sucks to find this (and other) video(s) just now that they went sold out. To add insult to injury, the seller posted a new listing with another batch of those (that also went out of stock blazingly fast). In the end it doesn’t make a big difference, since I’m from Europe and the seller only ships to US, so I still wouldn’t have been able to get one either way
At the time, that 6930p was too expensive and competed with the Dell Precision E6400, the ThinkPad T400 and the Toshiba Tecra S10, which is almost identical to the 6930p. I have one similar to yours with Radeon 3450 graphics and I have put a t9600 instead of the p8600, you don't feel that difference as much, but the SSD did everything. Only 4 GB 2x2 DDR2, since individual 4 GB modules are too expensive and scarce. Enjoy and take care of your computer, with Linux you can get a lot out of it, Windows 10 is clumsy here.
I have probook from same age and it stil can run linux or trimmed down version of windows 10.Runs youtube at 720p but i recomend 480p.
late win XP laptop, cool.
my school computers be like
Very good content, would you like to review our laptop cooler?
What is right botttom of the keyboards case?
I miss when laptops were good.
It's really odd that HP installed 4GB of memory yet used a 32-bit OS. Anyways you should nstall an SSD and WIndows 10.
my biggest pet peeve with laptops are exactly the batteries. sometimes the BMS in these things freaks out and blows the fuse inside. The fuse is normally programmed to blow when there is an anomaly with the cells but it can also blow if the battery is given a sudden rush of power. Very stupid. This makes re-celling laptop batteries a nightmare.
wonder if windows vista or 7 I comment before opening the box

Question: Did the 15-year-old HP laptop run Windows Vista?
@kraftwerklover69

yes, of course it did. of course, not a lot of people liked vista back then. so they offered windows xp drivers as well.
Need the SP3 CD? I can make a copy for you ;-)
How much it costs?
Very cool machine. Now its time to throw a SSD in that bad boy with XCFE linux and surf tje web. 👍
