    Congrats, man! Super happy for you and loved hearing your story about chatting with Alexi. I've got two Edwards Alexi models(Scythe & Arrowhead) and love them very dearly. As far as his Jacksons go, Bodom played a gig for Spinefest 2002 and had a party at their rehearsal space afterwards and the following morning, they discovered that Alexi's two main Custom Shop Jackson's were gone. At this point in time, Fender had just bought Jackson/Charvel and were in the midst of lots of changes, I believe even moving facilities? Regardless, Jackson said they wouldn't be able to make a replacement guitar for Alexi for at least a year and ESP told him like 2 months or something along those lines.

    Thats exactly what I was told too. However I also heard that Fender did not take over Jackson/Charvel and did not interfere with their ways because Fender is not stupid.

    I got the Blackie Edwards,...not sure the year,.....it was the one year they put a Duncan Blackout pickup in,....it did have the pickup booster when I got it,....it isn't standard Rhoads shape,.....I had the boost disconnected, and put the passive Dimbucker in mine,...as the Blackout was way too loud for me

  • @EricMorettin

    Nice! Alexi ran the blackout for a while before coming back to passive EMGs. I can only imagine how much gain he was running with the blackouts and the gain boost. Dimebucker would sound awesome in that guitar!

    my friend has one identical to that , he said Alexi actually played an edwards so this guitar is more authentic than the extremely expensive custom shop esp version that Alexi never actually got to play. I don't know if thats true, if it is its very similar to Randy Rhoads because Randys guitars were tecnically prototypes and he never got to play the final version they built for him and went with. I am a Jackson freak I want to find out Alexi's Jackson specs were and see if I can mod an existing single pup Rhoads, I have seen un official Alexi Jacksons maybe I can get one of those. i have a Jackson polka dot Rhoads even though Randy did not its still more authentic Randy than other Rhoads models until the new RRVS arrive soon but those I am sure going to cost at least $7000 and there is only a few dozen music zoo exclusive and I am sure they are already sold. My polka dot was a production model in the earlier 2000s and extremely rare for some reason. I have only found 4 ever, including mine and I look for Jacksons everyday. Edwards has been around forever and they are top notch, they make better Gibsons than Gibson does lol

    I heard that Alexi played single EMG Hz passive humbucker and a boost of some kind originally, is that true?

  • @EricMorettin

    @EricMorettin

    3 ай бұрын

    He played Jackson guitars branded passive pickups in his old Jackson RR guitars with the integrated Jackson preamp. He then switched to EMG when he went to ESP with his own unique preamp that is similar to the Jackson one. Then went to Seymour Duncan blackouts for a bit, then back to EMG and eventually designed the ALX set.
