I didn't now you had a YT channel! This looks great. I use to work for Soho Publishing and they had another company that also published drawing books. They can be a great to learn how to draw. And something to do while sheltering in place. Excited to see what you with this. Liking and subbing, lets connect here on YT too! 😍

I would really like to hear what you think of this book now, 2 years later, and if you have had any real use for it, or found it helped you advance in your art journey.

Hi Catarina! Thank you so much for watching:) And yes...the Bargue is one book that I recommend highly. I did a video where I talk about my first-year journey here ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/gYdsq9uAqa_Wfc4.html )and did a comparison of where I started to where I was at that point. I did stop doing Bargue at about a year-and-a-half point and currently doing Vanderpoel, but I will probably come back to it as soon as I finish with the Vanderpoel studies, as it's really a book that you can work through your whole life IMO. I believe even Van Gogh worked through this book twice!

thank you for this! Would you say there is value in purchasing this book rather than just printing out the plates that are widely available online? Has it provided that value for you ?

Hi Victoria! I think if you’re only doing select plates and you have a good printer, the book might not be necessary. The advantage of the book is that you have more choices when it comes to the cast drawings and it also has the text which guides you on how to do the plates. Personally, I found having the book useful because I don’t have to worry about printing and it also has Bargue’s oil paintings which are beautiful. HTH😀

How's it different from the cheap (smaller) paperback? Better image quality?

Hi Emad! Unfortunately, I haven't seen the paperback version so can't really say for sure. The quality of this hardbound though is really quite good, and the images are clear.

Unfortunately, I don't have the link to a free PDF but archive.org I believe has a free PDF of a condensed version of this book🙂

Kind of pointless to have the book since the plates were meant to be taped onto a wall.
