I LOVE the patience and tenderness of this young Guard. He straightened out the chains and reins patiently and even gave the horse a little kiss on the nose! The horse seemed to watch him ❤❤❤❤ as he stood before heading back to the courtyard. A person with an affectionate affinity for the horses is worth his weight in rubies. To rachaelstanton5789, catskeet4860, and dho32766, I whole heartedly agree that on this occasion of seeing the Horse Guards, I teared up by the kindness shown by the trooper we now know to be Trooper Ellis, The Horse Whisperer in my mind. To have that total connection with such a beautiful animal, who reciprocated with the nudge, amongst all the noise and chaos, it appeared like it was just the two of them. Both the Guards and horses work tirelessly maintaining their positions, sometimes under grueling conditions, and my hat goes off to each and everyone (handlers and all others involved), for continuing this beautiful celebration of our history. God Save The King, get well soon, and get well wishes also to Princess Catherine of Wales

I was so pleased to read on a website devoted to horses that every year the horses go on vacation for 3 weeks with their Guards! In one area they "frolic in the sea" with their soldiers. Not only do the horses get a much needed break from their duties and get to roll around in the meadows and relax but their humans get to relax as well. The bond between the horses and their riders is enforced and another layer of trust is added. I was so pleased to read that. When Queen Elizabeth passed away in September, the horses were on their vacation and had to be called back for the funeral. Then they continued their holiday.

I've seen the videos at the beach & it looks fabulous!! Swimming with their horses & playing games....such respect for the guards..hope the beach vacation doesn't get shortened. Too many things changing

The more i see of this young guard ,the more i realise that he has truly found his calling in life ! He's calm, kind, both to kiddies and the mounts and has a real concern for his fellow guards. Well done young man, be safe, God Bless you and keep you 🙏 ❤

This soldier has a quality about him. His empathy with people and animals is amazing. Watch how that horse was completely relaxed with this guardsman. The trust the horse had was so obvious. As a man I so admire solders like this. Professional, disciplined but has a very human touch.

I'm so happy this clip is still circulating. This is lovely. Not only is trooper Ellis just flat out gorgeous, the lad has a wicked sense of humour(that side eye with the ALMOST smile always makes me chuckle) and carries out his duties with real panache. It's obvious that he cares about the horses, he always stops for a soft word and a pat.... and sometimes a cheeky smooch lol. He's a credit to his regiment and I'm so happy that he's SO popular not Only for his looks(tho yes I know, they're hard to overlook....) That lad could open bottles with those cheekbones😂, but also for his behaviour, his kindnesses, and just his "presence". Some people really just do have that little bit extra, and the way this young man can hold the attention of a crowd is kinda magical. Well done Ellis, you deserve all the admiration that people give you lad.

This young man went viral for a very kind act of his that was incidentally captured on video where he moved across to allow a gentleman and his disabled young charge to get a good picture with the King's Guard. Strictly speaking ofc, when on guard they need to stay still, but he later said about moving, that "it was just the kind thing to do" A couple of people had visited HorseGuards and wanted to pass on their appreciation and at least one was introduced to him, which is I think at least partly where his name came out. He also very kindly, with his lovely partner, did a little Q&A with John from LCW(London City Walks) which was great, and quite fascinating because he really loves his job. He also has I think a good head on his shoulders and accepts that a certain publicity is a part of his role. In any case, he is a really, genuinely nice bloke... and very pretty 😏😇🤣

What a lovely moment giving the horse a kiss and making the horse feel as if he is loved . 😍

Pretty certain this was the same guard who was answering the young schoolkid's questions and who also moved closer so the father and his mentally impaired son could get a better photo. Tip of the hat to you young soldier. You will rise up the ranks very quickly. Keep doing what you are doing.

What a lovely guy this foot guardsman is. No aggression or harshness to his moves. This horse definitely has some kind of bond with the foot guard. Lovely at the end, the horse almost thanks the guard for sorting out his reins and the guard kissed him!! Lovely to see such loving kindness from both horse and guard.

Yes he slowly walks, straight backed but almost gliding. Extremely handsome too (blushes). Apparently off duty, he works with Special Needs and it warmed my heart to see him move toward an autistic lad. Plus another lad who was scared to go near him, he sidled up to him too. Wonderful credit to the King.

Did you see at the very end of the guard before pulling his sword he gave the horse a kiss. That shows how he loves the horse. Awesome

Horses are amazing animals. They have "friends" and "enemies", people they like and those they don't trust. It's the same on pasture, there is a "pecking order" and Horses have friends and enemies on pasture too. But what's truly amazing about horses is that the seem to like children and understand children and they usually very gentle around smaller children.

@Klemheist These are trained soldiers on active duty. Here they are guarding a working barracks, an entrance to Buckingham Palace and gateway to St James Palace. The MoD police onsite are armed to the teeth in case of a terrorism threat. The soldiers themselves are wearing historical ceremonial dress, and tourists love them and the horses of course, but they are doing an important job which has nothing to do with tourism. The Blues and Royals (regiment on duty here) alternate with the King's Life Guards and when they are not on duty they are doing a thousand other things. including training, education, working in the stables etc etc etc. There are plenty of documentaries which will give you a fuller picture of who they are and what they do. The history is fascinating. Another vlogger 'London City Walks' will also give you a tonne of information. John publishes content 3-4 times per week.

Love how he shows this mount effection . And does so in front of the public to see. Goes to show they really care about these mounts. Respect to this guard.
