Thanks bud! Yep north GA has been home my whole life.
Yeah just the side wall right now with the 1x8s or 1x10s or whatever is like $2500 in of itself! Crazy how fast a barn can rack up in cost.
Beautiful
Congrats. What a joy to watch your build. Inspired me to do the same up in Michigan. Next build a two story playhouse "with" your boys with hand tools. Make sure an adult can sleep in it.

@@ProjectDadLife you did a great job, I have been a carpenter for 33 years, I can appreciate the work you’ve put into that barn. The only thing I haven’t built yet is a barn.
Nice work! Great Barn.

Amazing build. The real cost was in Sweat Equity. Hard to put a price on that and a sense of accomplishment.

You’re the only youtuber that I have seen do the sonotubes correctly. Just to form the top of the foundation. You let the concrete lock into the soil.

Thanks man. I’ve always wondered why people do it the other way seems like a lot of play would be left

If you’re in a deep frost zone you need a tube all the way down to what is preferably a footing then backfill around the tube with drain rock. Otherwise the frost will cause the dirt to grab the tube and heave in the winter.

@@miketoopitsin9449 I’m a structural engineer. Yes, what you suggest is correct. But if you’re drilling the foundations it’s not practical. The frost depth for footings is not how deep the frost goes. The frost will only go a foot or so deep. When the concrete is poured against the rough edges of the hole it locks into the soil. The extra two feet of footing below the actual frost is what keeps the footing from being jacked out of the hole by the frost. Locking it into the soil provides a lot more resistance to uplift than the smooth sides of the tube.

$400 crane rental versus $8000 for a framing company to build it! Id say that’s on a budget

@@ProjectDadLife idk anyone who has used a crane for a barn (who was on a budget), but it's better than 8k. I guess it depends on financial abilities/situation.

$400 for a crane seems really cheap, not that I’ve ever even looked into hiring a crane. It does definitely fall into the category of cost trade offs.
This was a waste of time unless you are someone who wants to watch gay men build a barn half assed
