Ultimate Cuisinart Breadmaker Review as Compared to the Breadman

Ғылым және технология

Today well be reviewing this Cuisinart CBK-200 bread-maker. I'd purchased this machine to replace the Breadman due to failing Teflon adhesion as demonstrated in the last video. This gives us not only an opportunity to do another review, but to compare the two appliances.

After an unboxing we find that the extras provided for the Breadman were a bit better, also on the Breadman the mixer swivels down. The manual for the Cuisinart was better written than the Breadman. The Breadman was also found to have typos in our recipes.
Our first attempt uses the corrected Breadman recipe. Note the Breadman has an auto seed dropping feature, this machine does not, only a notification to do so manually.
While I let it be on the first attempt, if found that initial mixing needs a helping hand as far as dough getting caught on the sidewalls and not mixing in. Also seeds need some manual help for good distribution. I did assist on the second attempt.
On a 3rd attempt we went with a Challah as a random selection. We find the 2lb loafs are larger than the machine can handle and may dial it back to 1.5. That said the machine worked well.

Once the machine get’s ready to start baking, the machine will beep rapidly, which tells you to pause the cycle, open the cover, and take out the paddle. After that, spread the dough around to make it flat for better consistency.

Such a great video. Concise, to the point. Nice presentation with the ingredients popping onto the screen. You work well together. Loved the dual start button pushing. Neighbor is giving me one of these and watching your video gave me insight into its working and trouble shooting as well. The handle tips was priceless. I have an Emeril bread machine that has 2 paddles which helps a lot with the ingredients sticking to the sides and incorporating seeds etc. I was curious about the yeast going in the center, in a pile. The Emeril machine instructions say to spread the yeast evenly across the top of the ingredients. Do you think it makes a difference? Oh, I bet that Navy picture on your profile brings back memories of days gone by. You should be proud!⚓️🌊

When I was looking at some bread maker reviews, I remember one of the important factors that Consumer Reports et al. took into account when deciding which machine would be named the best bread maker machines for the year: It was that the machine would have not one, but _TWO_ mixing paddles. I didn’t understand why that mattered so much until I watched your video just now, where you had to physically get in there with your mixing spatula to collect the dough that was sticking to the sides of the container, as well as the seeds that weren’t being incorporated into the dough. So in the video here, when you were pondering out loud if it’s because the Cuisinart paddles aren’t big enough, or perhaps it’s the shape of the container that was the reason that the dough ball was staying put on one side, requiring you to manually move it back and forth with the spatula to collect everything - _it’s that the machine doesn’t have two paddles!_ That’s what they’re for. That’s all. :)

This bread machine also has a setting that will beep at you to take the paddle out and you can help shape the loaf a bit. And I appreciate the booklet has some advice on troubleshooting different things like environment changes.

thanks for the reply. Yes it definitely isn't cheap. Has a lot of features including making your own jam (noticed your boss was eating jammed bread). Was just curious. I dont mind spending a bit more for quality, longer life, and convenience. I did buy an S8 after all :D @@retrotechandelectronics

@@dkleve9745 What is an S8? As a side note - the last bread maker machine he bought, reviewed on this channel, and then returned (the Breadman bread maker) - it also had the ability to make jam! :) I know because I have a Breadman as well. Ironically, just like his wife was eating jam with the challah bread here, my S/O is a jam-lover too - he eats it on an English muffin every morning. I’m thinking of trying to make some jam for him in it. Looks like it would be a trip! The recipes are pretty bizarre. They are never just one kind of fruit - it’s always _TWO_ random fruits. So the recipe I wanted to try to make for him first is strawberry and kiwi jam. I wonder if I wanted to make straight strawberry jam without the kiwi, if I could just sub in an extra amount of chopped up strawberry in lieu of the kiwi, and keep the rest of the ingredients the same. Don’t mind me - I’m just thinking “out loud” haha. But seriously - how weird will it be to make _JAM_ in a _BREAD MACHINE!!_ Right? 😂

I have the same problem. This B. Machine does not do 2LBS. It goes over the top of the lid. Most of all, the light Crust setting is dark to almost burnt color. I have regret buying this machine.

Why don't you compare the weights of the machine after unpacking? It is important to know if they are similar. The heaviest part of the machine is its motor. A heavier motor is likely to be more mechanical powerful in driving the paddle. Also, a heavier machine may be made of better materials - less plastic, more alloy steel. Finally, you are comparing two widely advertised products. The less expensive machine is very likely to be just as good and to last equally long. Motors, heating elements, and even printed circuit boards with computer chips have been produced for many years now. They don't have to be expensive to do a good job and to be reliable. They just have to be made by a company that is responsible.
