The Ultimate Breadman Bread Machine Review

Ғылым және технология

Today we will be reviewing the Breadman Bread Machine. I had selected this machine because it had contained a setting for low carb bread as I make keto bread. After a straight forward unboxing and cleanout we jump into a first recipe. The boss has selected a whole wheat recipe to kick things off.
Link on amazon, Not a paid review.
amzn.to/42dBxvz
All procedures are conducted directly as specified in the book since its our first attempt with the machine. This machine has an extra feature to add seeds or whatnot with an autodrop mechanism at the appropriate time, this was the only thing the added with a seed mixture.
I did discover early that the manual/recipe book is lacking, severely. Its important to note when a mode will be doing nothing the first 30 minutes, lest someone thing the machine is broken. Getting passed the waiting issue, Id noticed our first batch was looking a bit dry, over time it was getting worse. What turned out to be a failure was the result of a typo in the recipe. Checking through the recipe boot found several typos until I stopped looking.
When we redid the recipe using some match to provide for corrections it came out very good. Another documentation failure. I did find that if it rises too far, good lick getting the handle out, It should not be pushed all the way to the side, just enough to close the cover going forward.
A Hefezopf was then attempted. With whole wheat flour, that also came out prefect.
Sadly, we noticed after the 3rd batch that teflon was coming off the pan. We only clean the pan with water and soap in the sink, no abrasives. When I called Breadman about this they said the pan was on backorder. This tells me its a continuing problem for the company. Sadly we returned it for another bread machine from a different company, new review to follow, If they can fix the coating issue and the documentation, it would be a great machine.

I got mine about 9 years ago as a present. Using it just once in a while, but it still work's. My experience is just with white bread, but i noticed it helps a lot when the liquid and the fat are in a warmer state. And I think it's relevant in which elevation we cook and bake...a quick note about this was in my booklet as well.

Oh wow - I’m so glad I found this video! I recently picked up a Breadman Bread Maker from a garage sale for $10 (score! 😁), because the machine was in great shape, lookin’ like new, and the owners said they had barely used it. It’s a different model (BK1060S), and the recipe book cover looks different, but guess what?! Its book has the _SAME EXACT_ typos for water amounts in the recipes that you pointed out in this video! Hahaha. Wow! That is some serious messing up that the company did! I can’t even imagine how many machine returns they must have processed for that very problem alone! People will obviously think that the machine is defective if they are following the recipe precisely, yet the bread doesn’t rise and it looks like what you showed here! I wish you had shared the recipe corrections you had worked out for water amounts etc, because I’m terrible at math lol. Some Breadman employees definitely should have been fired over that, no joke. Goodness gracious. Those *massive* mistakes must have cost the company soooo much money in customers returning the machines! Yikes!

@@retrotechandelectronics P.S. I’m just curious... What language is your wife speaking to you in this video (if you don’t mind sharing)? She was speaking rather quietly and didn’t say much in that language, so it was hard for me to pick up and take a proper guess at it. ;) Hmmm, I’ll try anyways. Being that you guys sound like your from the East Coast, and possibly even from New York or New Jersey, I’m going to guess Hebrew? My second guess would be more vague, but I’d guess an Eastern European language. Also, I wrote my previous comment before I got to the end of your video. So I wanted to add that I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the teflon coating in my bread maker as I use it, because of your scary experience! So glad that you shared that. Currently (and fortunately), the coating in my machine looks perfectly in tact still. I hope it remains as such! Because teflon chipping is obviously sooo bad to ingest in your food, and that must have infuriated you and your wife to notice that only _AFTER_ you ate bread made in that! 🤦‍♀️ I’m going to be super paranoid now and check the coating after every batch I make, but before I eat it! That’s scary/terrible that that happened to you guys - especially when you had only made a whopping _THREE_ loafs at that point, and you said that you had only ever hand washed the container. 😢 I don’t blame y’all in the least bit for returning your machine and getting a different brand instead by that point. I’d be pissed too - that’s a sign of shit production quality/standards (and we both know where this product was manufactured, so it’s not surprising in the least, right?). Looks like you guys went with Cuisinart as your replacement (I’ve yet to watch the video yet; I just see it atm in your breadmaker playlist). I hope their products are made in the USA or Western Europe or something, so that the new machine didn’t suffer a similar fate with quality control problems. Lastly, it looks like we both had the same exact reaction to the typos in the Breadman bread maker recipe book - haha (the assumption that the typos must have caused a ton of product returns). I would have _LOVED_ to be a fly on the wall when the head of the company learned about such a royal eff-up! 😂 Anywho - sorry for writing so much! Thanks again for the video - it was very informative!

@@retrotechandelectronics Ahh! Don’t kill me, but I forgot to ask you something before I finally shut up haha! I know this video is 2+ years old, but by any chance do you remember what the key differences were between the model you bought and were reviewing here in the video (the link in this video’s description box says you bought the BK1050S model) versus the model I have, which is BK1060S (yeah, just swap a 6 for the 5)? Because the cover of my recipe book says that it is specifically for _BOTH_ our models BK1050S and BK1060S. I ask you because I’m having a hard time figuring out what the functional differences are, as from what I can tell, the company seems to have discontinued making these models. So I’m having a hard time finding descriptions for them that compare the two. The two models look so similar too. The only real difference is yours had that thick black colored band/stripe at the bottom of the metal door, whereas mine just stays the same stainless steel color as the rest of the machine (hopefully that makes sense). Obviously I don’t care about superficial looks - I’m just curious to learn what the functional differences were between the two. Cheers! Apologies again for making your eyes bleed, if you were even able to get through all of that! 😱 lol

I learned elsewhere that the rods inside the machine were actually slowly heating up, along with the soak. That’s why he even mentioned later on that the temperature was elevated in there when he opened the lid. It’s only necessary for certain types of bread, like wheat. The person who shared the knowledge wasn’t a novice, like this guy is, and he predicted that there would be a lot of novices who think their machines are broken and call the company asking for a replacement lol.

Not knowing how those surfaces been applied in the past (when invented), but I noticed even in toaster ovens or rotisserie ovens the coating is very thin applied ( like a thin spray coat)...makes it almost impossible to clean when something burned! @retrotechandelectronics
