Ukrainian Troops Dig Deep As Russian Fire Rains Down
Ukrainian soldiers are dug in and holding the line between the towns of Siversk and Soledar in the Donbas region, facing shelling "24/7." They spoke to RFE/RL's Maryan Kushnir about the constant Russian shelling and air strikes. One man struck a defiant note, saying, "The truth is on our side."

The Luhansk Peoples Republic and the Donetsk Peoples Republic....whom...btw....supply much of the infantry are fighting for THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR HOMES.....and after being shelled for 8 fucking years the Russians had enough of the USAs coup leadership in Kiev and moved in. So we projected the trends of the US's invasion of Iraq in 2003 onto Ukraine, which doesn't work. Iraq was flat, open and had a lot of empty desert to maneuver in, and a dictator who was widely despised. Ukraine had none of those.

Reminds me of WW1 when positions were shelled heavily but when the troops went over the top after the bombardment the enemy mowed them down.

If you look at drone footage from both Ukraine and Russia the artillery shelling from the Russian side is incredibly inaccurate . Psychologically it’s terrible but when it actually comes down to it in effectiveness you’re lucky if even one percent of the shells come anywhere near the trench systems
