@@gouldilox6805 You're making really weird comparisons here. The US took texas nearly 200 years ago. Every country had imperialistic ideas in those times. Russia doing it in this day and age is insane. They didn't wait for a decade watching their 'fellow russians" die. They themselves sent russian soldiers and equipment over the border to stir up trouble. The tried to assasinate presedential candidates and even funded the opposition. They literally shoot down a commercial jet and regularly fired artillery from the russian border into Ukraine to support their operations. Iran is also a really weird comparison to draw. Iran mined international waters and blocked shipping destroying oil tankers. The US responded to this by providing escorts to these ships. Pissing off and attacking your neighbours draws a response, how weird huh? You say you're not pro russian, but your comment is shamelessly apologetic to Russia and her friends' actions.

The retreat has started a few days ago and is about wrapping up right now. Avdiivka was mainly serving as a drain on Russian resources and with the breaches in several locations into the city, the K/D ratios stopped favoring Ukrainians to such an insane degree as it was a month or two ago. For political reasons, it would have probably helped if Ukraine lasted until Russian presidential elections next month, but only Russia ever put any stock into political goals at the cost of men, so Mariupol style defense was highly unlikely in the first place. The decision was pretty obvious; the biggest question was of when it will happen and not if.

It’s like you think the United States can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. By the way are you intellectually consistent when it comes to Israel and aid sent to the Palestinian civilians? If the US withdraws support for Israel will you cheer as they come under attack from their enemies that surround them? Or do you just not like Ukraine for some reason that has nothing to do with being a Trump cultist? How about when it comes to your personal problems? Why should my tax dollars go to help pay off your student loan debt? That’s your fault. Why should my tax dollars be required to help lower your rent? If you can’t afford rent then move instead of crying about it. If you can’t afford food, why should I pay for your food stamps? Do you see how ridiculous you sound when you make that argument? My guess is you are a Trump supporter who likes Russia because Trump likes Russia. If not, why are you so happy to be an appeaser like Neville Chamberlain and just look the other way as Putin rolls up Eastern Europe? How well do you think the EU will be doing with Putin at their doorstep with the US closing its check book? Do you think Americans might start losing jobs when the EU countries mobilize for war and we just wash our hands of the whole affair? Are you capable of seeing past the end of your nose? It’s ridiculous. But I guess that’s a defining feature of MAGA.

The thing with trying to destroy factories is that, you basically can`t. The more you destroy it, the better the enemy gets at getting it up and running, faster, more efficiently, with basically just an open-air, very rough, but robust factory-like environment, and with time they even become good at saving their workers during bombardment. It`s overall hell. The Wehrmacht during 1944 had its highest production of planes yet since the war had begun, despite the fact that they were constantly being bombed, pushed back further and overall not in a great situation. Human ingenuity is truly something else.

I’d like this channel to do a show specifically about the capacities of each nation. Also, it would be fascinating to hear how Russia uses foreign contract soldiers to boost their ranks. I’ve heard ALOT about this. When we hear of Russian fatalities, it’s important to stress this point as population depletion in the ranks, will be one of the sparks that causes revolution or at least loss, in Russia. Russia may not value its soldiers, but using people from the far east Russian Oblasts, whilst using foreign soldiers as their main cannon fodder, leaves regular ethnic Russians unscathed. That’s a large untapped population, more than twice the size of Ukraines prewar population. So when you hear of Russian fatalities, it is a Red Herring and not an accurate picture of the real situation. Please give us a video that focuses on this important topic and I will happily become a Patreon member.

@@daarom3472 Looking at it by pure numbers ignores the stark differences between those wars and this one. 1) Those were *world* wars, multinational conflicts where the narrative in Russia focuses on the impact of responsibility for its end from the Russian population, a huge point of Russian nationalism. Even the most propagandic take of the Ukraine "security operation" will admit pan-Russian nationalism is a primary stake of the war, and it's harder to draw a direct line from it to survival in this case. 2) Most of the Russian involvement in WW1 and WW2 was defending their own national territory, tying back to #1. It was a lot easier to wave off the dissent in the SSRs and occupied former Imperial Russian territory when Russian Soviet leadership could take credit for defending against the Nazis, who were open about their hatred of Slavs even while they employed them and killed many indiscriminately for existing. Putin's claims of "danazifying" Ukraine have affected all they would have, and the longer the war goes on the less ppl will believe it, especially when open neo-Nazis and white supremacist organizations claim allegiance with Putin. 3) We live in a time where every death can be counted in real-time and it's easier to connect with ppl who knew them and share their stories. The better media transparency and faster delivery of the 60s is what made the Vietnam War become widely unpopular in the U.S. in only a few years, because anyone still undecided was exposed to the realities of the war, something which was covered up for Americans in WW2. The current Russian state is too disorganized to prevent information from leaking in - or out - forever, and it's opposed by nations and groups that are very, very good at getting past information walls when they want to. 4) With all of the above together, Russians are more likely to be aware of the deaths occurring and less likely to be completely supportive of all of the causes. Those who are really going to be affected are probably non-Russian minorities, who are aware of how the Russian governments have used them as cannon fodder in every past war. Even when Russian forces were clandestinely involved in the Donbass rebellion, they were sending ethnic Kazakh troops to support the rebels (at least one of them accidentally geo-tagged himself in a selfie). All the factors involved there are many of the precedents for ethnic rebellions in autocratic states. That could galvanize white Russians to want to hold the country together, or it could spark a wave of dissension over all of the deaths, crashing economy and loss of Russian reputation for a war that's questionable at best even for Russian patriotism.

I think Zaluzhny was on burnout. Let someone who's sitting behind the scenes with a fresh look whos been studying certain parts of the war and can act on them come to the front. Gove Zaluznhy some R and R work behind the scenes for a bit and jump back out front.

I think Zaluzhny told it as it is, they will never get a total victory and recommended a defensive plan, but Zelensky, who lost a lot of my admiration for him in the past few months, couldn't accept that. This is an ego trip from Zelensky who can't accept that the resources were wasted on a doomed counteroffensive that he pushed for...
