This is mainly due to the fact that there can't be any real surprises on the battlefield because any larger gathering of troops will be noticed and dealt with swiftly by artillery. So it is a meat grinder type of war, much more reminiscent of WWI.

Many people here dont understand that Russia had almost a year to prepare. They put millions of mines all over the frontlines, millions!!! There is reports that in some areas there is some 5 mines per square meter!!! Anti-personel and anti-armor. Before you can advance you need to get rid of them. And this under enemy artillery fire! The ukrainians tried the fast aproach first and took some hard losses. specialy because they dont have enough warplanes to support the ground troops. Thats why now they switched tactics. They concentrate on taking out enemy artillery and logistics from afar. This saves the lives of countless ukrainian soldiers. And if the russian soldiers dont get enough ammo and food, sooner or later theyr frontlines will collapse. Its not important to be "fast", its important to be smart, if you want to win at the end....

I know its still early, but this counter-offensive is proving costly. It seems that in modern warfare, the initial push is important before both sides end up in defensive positions. Any form of attack is increasingly costly given both sides do not have a numerical advantage. Russians slowly moving in on Kupiansk but losing lots of troops. Ukraines moving south but at heavy losses. Its a shame loss of life on both sides.

20:25 In life and war these things take time, and one of the sayings I always am reminded of how empires, companies and men end up collapsing or dying. Bankruptcy and bad health too, at first the end comes slowly. So slowly that you pay it no heed and forget about it easily and then out of nowhere it happens very very quickly! I can imagine this front dragging out for a year and then all at once, massive breaks occurring through russian lines as the "internal rot" and constant grinding finally meet.

There are cracks in the supports. The bridge cannot be completely demolished by military action, but just taking out sections of the bridge can completely put it out of action for many months or years. The SBU should prioritize destroying th rail bridge. Rail is what keeps the orc army supplied and Ukraine on the slow advance

They won't because it will prove the Ukrainian offensive was a failure as they captured about 80km² only and not +200km² as they claim, while Russia without an announced offensive captured about the same, and that is coming from an Ukrainian source (Voin_dv).

@@igormsh14bidevisualizacoes45 What a silly thing to post... Two Russian ships 'decommissioned', tens of thousands of Russian invaders dead, tens of thousands more wounded... Many hundreds of Russian tanks APCs and trucks destroyed, many Russian helicopters destroyed along with a few Russian planes... Oh and the Ukrainian counter offensive has caused a partial coup in Russia itself with Putin fleeing for his life, and Finland to join NATO and united the west in ways that will cause Russia problems for decades to come... Seems like quite the success story to all but you... 🤣 Slava Ukraine!

Because it's not losing any of its own soldiers, and has already sunk billions into Ukraine's defense. They're not just going to walk away from a very expensive project. So it's essentially a war of economies. Russia's economy vs the combined economies of NATO/allies. I know who wins that in the long term.

The Ukrainians offensive has reached the Russian defensive line at one location ! This reminds me of the battle of Passchendaele in WW I. The British planned to punch through three rows of barbed wire. Across a series of three German trench lines and break out into the “Green fields” beyond. After a quarter of a million causalities the British halted the offensive. They had not even been able to cross their own line of barbed wire before being stopped !
