@@AyshaLovesYou you're not getting the joke. He said american english and in america they use pounds instead of kilograms as a measure of weight (technically mass) because of the imperial system. While what you said was true, hes not referring to the British pound since he said american english. He also said "In American English that sentence is so different." Which means that it sounds different to americans than to the british as they would be thinking of the unit of measurement and not the currency.

My dad once had to do a health check in Asia (that specific country gives the death penalty for drugs) and he tested positive for heroin. My dad laughed and said you must be joking. They looked him dead in the eyes and said “we don’t joke here. My dad said he’d never been so scared as that day. He explained that he used strong medication. They have him one week and then he would have to come back. He googled all his medications and turned out one of the medications had a substance that many airports have picked up as heroin. He immediately stopped using that and he was cleared. 🙏🏼

The video says that would have got them £2000 each but thats a laughably low total. Thats them selling each pack for just over £1 (£1.11 to be exact) Retail value in the UK for a pack on average is about £8.70 which equals just over £31k retail value for thir haul. Where I live people who sell illegally are charging a minimum of £5 a pack. Close to half price for most brands. 3580 packs at £5 each is £17'900. There's no chance they paid £13'900 for that many cigs so £2000 profit each is waaaaaay too low an estimate

I am a 60 year old grandma. I was pulled aside at the airport because my hands were said to have gunpowder on them! I had been visiting my nephew and niece for a ski vacation in Idaho, US. No gunpowder was involved... they kept me in an isolation area while they emptied my carry-on and did some testing on my things (which were nothing but basic clothing for a 5-day ski trip.) And no medication or pills, but I can completely identify with the people saying, "I have nothing to do with drugs..." because pretty much all I could say while I was questioned was, "I don't have anything to do with gunpowder, I've just been skiing with my nephew..." It was awful, but worked out OK, I suppose, since I didn't get searched intimately and they eventually released me - in time for my flight, thankfully. But I guess I just cannot express the fright+annoyance that you feel when this weird stuff happens to you, and you have NO recourse - you are just at the mercy of these airport security people. I am glad they were (relatively speaking) nice to me. (-?) But there is something REALLY WRONG about having to endure crap like that when you simply went skiing with your family!

Cash is subject to import tax if it is over a certain amount. It is also a red flag for drug trafficking. In the US, cash involved in drug sales/production/activity can be used as incriminating evidence to connect launderers to the original drug crime. I forgot the name of that law. It is very common for drug dealers to use cash-mules to transport cash payments across boarders. Large amounts of cash are also considered red flags for immigration violations. If you are traveling with large amounts of cash, be sure to declare it, pay taxes on it, and be able to prove it is YOUR cash and you are not just "transporting" it for a "friend".

He was very polite (British) but I had been singled out for the extensive questioning. I was terrified. I would throw myself over Niagara Falls before I would smuggle or break any law in any way. As an American who frequently fly to the UK and throughout the world, I have to say that nobody handles their security better than the British. Every second you know you’re being watched and sized up - a good thing. They do it without being obvious, brash or rude. By comparison, many will be aware that in the US they use the “intimidate you to death” method, and find it useful to be scary, deadly serious and profoundly unfriendly, in my extensive experience. 🇺🇸
