Awesome! Thank you! Love this video I ended up with 8 one ton diesel 7.3l vans I bought for a grand each! We're fleet viechle have all records! I placed a bid and thought I was bidding on one! They ask me you want one or all! I payed for all and just brought them home! My wife thinks I'm nuts! I have the transfer cases and front axles To do several 4x4 swaps! I'm excited!

@@RVingwithG A full turn key 4x4 swap here is ~25k plus goodies/extras. The donor van will depend on your needs/budget.

VERY IMPORTANT! Replace the rear spring shackles! I had one of mine go out in the middle of the desert. Absolute crap design, not something you want to have happen to you. Get the best shackle you can. Good on you Chris for calling that out, it's important.

I'll be coming down as soon as I hit the mega million or power ball with my step van. I would like to add a pto for central hydraulics to actuate the pontoons and propulsion to be amphibious and an air compressor to inflate the derigable to fly like chity chity bang bang. Maybe you can cut a deal with B.F. good rich or Goodyear. I love your channel but your step van build keeps me up at night.

Thanks! Yes, the E series is still 8 on 6.5. We don’t have any spacer options to keep the 8 on 6.5 pattern

Can I upgrade a transmission to make a e350 reliability tow heavy trailers like a f350 I have a 10 ton equipment trailer and a tiny house but it would be really nice to have a van over a truck

The transmission needs a 4wd output shaft & housing before accepting the t-case

I have a stock E150 in great shape. I'd like to make it 4WD but don't want to go wild. Can I put a 1/4 ton front axle on it with your front spring hanger kit ?

Thanks! Nothing wrong with a quality spacer, they widen the trac to match the new F axle and also change the bolt pattern.

Q: when you cut a hole in the bottom of the body for the 4WD shifter pass-through, shouldn't that be sealed with a rubber gasket to prevent water from coming in and ruining the carpet, etc.?

You can if you want to, we never have and it has never been an issue.

You leave that interior carpet sticking out the bottom hole? What happens when water splashes up there?

Can i do a 2014 ford e250? I do vanlife and want to convert to 4x4....I have a lift on it now....4.5 inch

Thanks! You "could" but the inside of the frame is hard to access because of the radiatir/etc. And, if the hanger ever became damaged it would really suck to swap out if it were welded.

Maybe add a rubber boot to the bottom of the t-case shifter to make it weather proof........that's what I do on my vans:)

Interesting idea I hadn't thought of. I can see reasons for both.

It would be amazing to have these trucks steer with a tight rack and pinion system. As they come they drive all over the place.

Our conversions steer great, a rack/pinion isn’t compatible with a solid axle

I have not read any comments so apologies if it’s been said already but boy wouldn’t you save yourselves a lot of time and aggravation drilling with a hougen-rotabroach mag drill? They are so nice and not that expensive. They are just a joy to use compared to other methods such as how I see you’re doing it. But maybe there is a reason that I am not seeing. You guys are certainly experts.

We looked into that years ago, they didn't have enough travel and were too big to fit in the area we need to drill. But yes, would make the process easier!

We just add our front frame support or a front bumper to add strength to the front frame horns, that's it.

We don’t do any electric shift but we do have a 2pc shifter upgrade for swivel seats

In my opinion, yes. 05/up axles are plagued with death wobble

I just bought a 94 e350 shuttle bus im looking to lift im assuming they picked up 1 too many fat chicks with it and the step is about 3 inches from the ground

We only convert the E series chassis. That Dodge doesn;t have a frame so it won;t be easy to convert.

Our labor here in NC is ~4500 for a turn key swap

Any 4x4 kits with no lift? Or at least the minimum amount necessary? And as stock as possible.

Not possible to fit an axle under there with no lift. Minimum 4" for us.

Why use leaf springs? It's okay to mount in the crumple zone? You get death wobble this way?

Simpler, more durable (no death wobble) and the ride/steering/handling is better. These custom leaves will out articulate coils/radius arms too.

Why not weld some of that front spring mount? Just curious

Hey a Chris. I have a 1995 E350 dually ambulance that I would love to upgrade to a 4x4. I know you guys don't do the installs yourself on older vans. Could you let me know if you have any recommendations on who/where could do the installation with your kit? Also have you done this for dually ambos before? There's no way I could DIY this.

Is there a reason you are sticking front spring leaves ? instead of going for F250-F350 front diff assembly with the Ford coil springs that fit exactly E van front spring wells.

Coils are prone to poor handling and death wobble. Leaves are simpler, more durable and drive/steer/handle better than coils

Curious as to why the leaf spring brackets aren't welded on?

Hard to weld the inside of the frame, if damaged they’d be really hard to replace and with the bolts/sleeves the hangers add strength to the frame

Yep, I've yet to see a crumple zone crumple on the E series.
