This whole album literally saved my life. I’d listen to it every time I had chemo, starting in July 2001. In November of that year, I was in the isolation ward, terribly sick, with a white blood cell count of about 200. I listened to this over and over that day, this was just a moment that would be over at some point. That February I was done, cancer free ever since, if not healthy. It also helped me get through an horrific divorce 2 years ago. Thanks, guys. 💚🍀🙌🏼🙏🏻

The song is about Michael Hutchence, a friend of Bono’s who killed himself. The message in this video it’s pretty heavy! I didn’t get it back then when I was 9 years old but I get it now. Someone who’s falling and the people who care about him just can’t get to him, and when they do, it’s too late. Not their best album, but definitely my favorite! Yeah - but there are elements of that song that he definitely wrote before Michael Hutchence's passing (google him Gen Z'ers - INXS - total legend). It's incredible the way that Bono express his pain for his friend Michael through this hopeful and tender song. He seems to say: stand up and go on, cause every time you fall I'll be there to help you!
This song meant so much to me while recovering from depression. I don’t know where i’d be without it. Especially the last lines of the song affected me. ”And if, and if the night runs over And if, the day won't last And if your way should falter Along this stony paths It's just a moment This time will pass” I’m still alive and today i’ve recovered and will soon be back at work again. I survived depression, i didn’t commit suicide. It was close a few times. If you feel depressed, sad or whatever; Please remember that it’s just a moment and not an whole life. It will get better, i promise you that. You’ll find happiness again. Whoever you might be, i want you to know that your life matters and YOU MATTER! Have a little faith. I survived, and you will too.

Damn. I lost my mom to suicide in 2002. She played this song on repeat while she drove around with me in the passenger seat.. I am glad she had something to listen to while she worried about me. I used to think that she was playing the song for me, because I was kind of paranoid.. I was also in my moment. Looking back, I understand better now.. I never thought I would, but she always told me.. Chris.. you won't understand until you're an adult or a parent. I'm still neither, but I get it.. Thanks for the new video? Thanks for giving her song

Sorry to hear your story, my mom also had this album basically on repeat around 2001 ish. I remember even being very young at the time, her life was practically falling apart and I'm surprised she held on. For the past twenty years she's struggled with severe mental health and its only recently that she's been sorting herself out. She was diagnosed with cancer this year, luckily it was stage one and she is finishing up chemo that she almost didn't even need. I feel blessed. I have a feeling my story could've been much similar to yours though, this album was constantly on back then and she was in obvious self destruct mode, so much so that I'm not even sure if she should've had custody of me. Anyways prayers to you and your mom's spirit, I am sure she is with you when you listen to this.

Never been a massive fan of U2. I loved a lot of songs from them since their beginnings, but never a fanatic. But this song is simply beautiful. While written for Michael, I think is one of those songs that could save anyone from depression. I actually listen to it in many times of depression. When Bono and Edge get inspired they really know how to write tunes that reach the heart. The last minute of this song is simply a beautiful uplifiting thing. "It's just a moment, this time will pass".

I just learned this was written for Michael Hutchence, a good friend of Bono’s. Written partly before and partly after his death. Knowing that now gives this song even more depth and meaning for me. Of course it’s a spectacularly beautiful song, both hopeful and melancholy, but now I’ll hear it with a new awareness of how personal it was/is for him, and also for those across the world who love Michael.

This song needs to be re-released! It’s got to be one of the very best and it hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves! It hits me hard every time I hear it. Still.
God I needed this song yesterday and it just popped in my head at the right moment . Its just a moment , this time will pass❤

Me too 😓 love Michael.
Another brilliant heartfelt lyrics, beautiful music and stunning performance of U2.... I have always loved them and in times like this they seem more Important than ever. Animal attraction, sensual and exceptional artist will always be Bono, since the first moment I saw him.
This is just everything. Everything we are, everything we need to become.
Rest in Peace Michael Hutchence (January 22, 1960 - November 22, 1997) 🙏🏻
Here I am, listening to this beautiful song. Time to heal again. :)
Love this song! Rest in peace Michael.
I’ve always thought that Bono personifies Hutchence here. Physically speaking, you can see Bono isn’t wearing his glasses as usual and his clothing is way seemed to what Michael was. Bono really could see through his own eyes and ears what his friend experienced in those tough times. Heartbreaking. Man, U2 is such a great band!

I thought the same with how Bono looks here. There's also something about Bono falling over in this video. Michael was punched one night and fell over and hit his head very badly, causing trauma to the brain. He wasn't able to taste or smell anything after that, and suffered depression because of it. Some people put his death partly down to that incident.
Beautiful. Got me through a hell of a lot of garbage in my life..especially the last 3 years where I've lost my beautiful sister in law, my beautiful cat Che, my beautiful mum and now my wonderful mother in law . It's been hell...

Beautiful.
As many of you have already noted, this song spoke to my soul at just the time in my life I needed to hear it. I was a few days away from my 35th birthday when I had a massive heart attack. Had three stents put in my heart (two 100% blockages and one 65%). This song got me to see my life in a whole new way. Peace to all.
Bono wrote this for the passing of Michael Hutchence and he describes it as a argument between two friends, You got stuck in a moment and you can't get out. The part in the song where it says "I was unconscious, half asleep The water is warm till you discover how deep I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall It's a long way down to nothing at all." is interesting because that's what depression can feel like. There's something enticing about the warm water that kinda pulls you in but once you've been in the warm water a while you realise there's only one way out and there's nothing in the water no longer serving you. I think we all hang on to things of the past to an extent and talking about these things definitely helps when toxic masculinity is so prevalent today. Ask someone how they are doing :)

100%. Great comment. This song makes me think Bono somehow both has experienced depression and knows how to overcome it. And he also knows how to gift his coping mechanism to all who will listen. Damn it's brilliant.

Just saw Sing 2😊 Love this song! I remember my parents used to listen to U2’s songs… This is definitely my fave! Let’s sing along… here’s the lyrics 🎶 I'm not afraid Of anything in this world There's nothing you can throw at me That I haven't already heard I'm just trying to find A decent melody A song that I can sing In my own company I never thought you were a fool But darling, look at you (Ooh) You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight These tears are going nowhere baby You've got to get yourself together You've got stuck in a moment And now you can't get out of it Don't say that later will be better Now you're stuck in a moment And you can't get out of it I will not forsake The colors that you bring The nights you filled with fireworks They left you with nothing I am still enchanted By the light you brought to me I listen through your ears Through your eyes I can see You are such a fool To worry like you do. Oh I know it's tough And you can never get enough Of what you don't really need now My, oh my You've got to get yourself together You've got stuck in a moment And you can't get out of it Oh love, look at you now You've got yourself stuck in a moment And you can't get out of it I was unconscious, half asleep The water is warm 'til you discover how deep I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall It's a long way down, to nothing at all You've got to get yourself together You've got stuck in a moment And you can't get out of it Don't say that later will be better Now you're stuck in a moment And you can't get out of it And if the night runs over And if the day won't last And if your way should falter Along the stony paths And if, and if the night runs over And if, the day won't last And if your way should falter Along this stony paths It's just a moment This time will pass
Uau .. esse Bono é a cara da riqueza. Essa banda é a cara do sucesso.. e essa música é a cara da minha infância feliz..😌😌😘🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
