United States Navy SEALs perform their annual 4th of July (1999) public demonstration in appreciation of San Diego's year round support. I shot this video on my old Sony 8mm Hi8 format, but the show is still worthy of uploading to KZread. FOR NEWS REPORTS ON THE KILLING OF OSAMA BIN LADEN, CLICK: • How America Killed Osa...

Excellent video, very well filmed! Saw Navy Midship men at the football game in Dublin, Ireland, last week, they were a credit to their uniform, real Gentlemen. Very best wishes from Ireland.
I was there for this in 1999. We watched from the golf course. The did this every year on the 4th. It's cool to see it on video and look back.
Thanks for sharing. The quality is remarkably good.
It seems like the more recent demos are not as spectacular as that one. That was awesome.
I had duty this day...sitting on an LCU at Assault Craft Unit-1 at NAB watching this show go down.
I was there that day. Great video. The SEALS are impressive to say the least.
Feels pretty crazy to watch this now...I’m 28 years old...I was at this show when I was 9 years old...damn time flies...
I thank all of those who serve, fight and defend our country. I am grateful for those who risk their lives and die for us. I appreciate all of you.
I'm a native of Coronado. All the years I lived there I admit I never watched the SEALs show so I was glad to watch this video. I've seen the candidate dudes going through BUD/S (been almost run over by crazed candidates who when ordered into water will stop at nothing or anybody in their way). We used to be able to walk in front of the SPECWARCOM facility on the beach. You knew when it was Hell week for a BUD/S class when you'd hear automatic weapons fire at night. During the Vietnam conflict the SEALs had a mock-up Vietnamese village with tunnels underneath made of 55 gallon cans. Scary and awesome to crawl in pitch black with someone only inches away in front and behind. SEAL dudes surf and would be around us out in the Coronado surf. I've met only one SEAL who had been shot up in Grenada. But that's the old Coronado when the Navy had more influence on the town. Now the place is becoming more like a Newport Beach. If you're in town and you stop by McP's Irish Pub & Grill. It's one of the places where the SEAL operators hang. You won't know who they are as they blend in real well.

Yeah I was assigned by my company to SD back when it was Miramar. We had an office in Kearny Mesa right across from the base. We had another office near Coronado and had a few clients that were SEALs back then and had a once in a lifetime chance to be shown around Coronado and even the La Posta gun range now the Michael Monsoor Mtn Warfare Camp. AWESOME memories, INCREDIBLE to be in the presence of these warriors. God Bless them all.
I used to look forward to this 4th of July show so much growing up in Coronado! Unfortunately it ended after 9/11.
For those of you attacking the timing: This was an exercise meant to further practice tasks needed to complete the complicated missions the Seals are tasked with as well as thank the citizens of SD. During exercises, especially those that are exhibitions, the focuses are always technique and safety. During combat, with adrenaline pumping, things always speed up and there are always greater risks taken to complete a mission & return home safe. SLOW IS SMOOTH, SMOOTH IS FAST! QUIET PROFESSIONALS!
Awesome, Elite Soldiers! I wish they still did this for the 4th of July!!
Thank you, sir! Also, you have interesting videos on your KZread Channel. Nice Job.
Whoa. This is amazing, I remember this from the shores. I was like 5 years old.
THANK YOU to you and your brother for your service to your Country during these very difficult times. GOD Speed!!
FANTASTIC AND SUPERB COVERAGE AND VIDEO! :o)
Good editing and camera work, mate.
I was stationed in San Diego at that time. Air Ops, Dept. NAS North Island, 1997-2000
Does the Navy still put on shows of this sort, or something like fleet week? My mom would be thrilled to get to see something like this, and even more thrilled to get the chance to tour a Nimitz class carrier. I haven't been able to find any solid information, but we're Canadian, so it would be a significant investment to make the trip to the west coast.
That was the same time Bostjan Leban was playing basketball at New Mexico State University from Llubjana Slovenia and getting his International Busineds Economics degree and it triggered my PTSD from being MIA POW in May 1992 in the Siege of Sarajevo.
Outstanding video
Thank you, friend!
is there a similar show like this still. i really want to see one
My dad graduated from the FBI Academy on July 3 1999
There was a joit SOF demo in FL this year with a few SEALs in there. You gotta look for conferences and trade shows if you want to see this sort of thing nowadays.
listening to that choppers sound one time grabs my attention
Rented a house on Coronado beach and from a chair on the deck watched them practice jumps into the water from pretty high, guessing 50 to 100 feet. It was surreal because the weather was bad, low visibility and rough water, went on for hours.
This is so cool! :D
Based on the year this video was taken I say the first two helicopters are SH-60B's (it is hard to keep all the H-60 airframes apart) and the CH-46 Sea Knight the 3rd helicopter shown, yes or no?
Looks like lead (UH-60) was trailing an ICS cord out the right side after the troops landed on the deck
Does anyone know what date this video was filmed ?
This was filmed on the 4th of July, 1999.
I grew up there in thee 60's wish they woulda done that back then, OMG, the story's I could tell !!!!
LOL ! are you serious ? the date is right there on the right hand side of the screen, its there throughout the entire video, how do you not see that shit ?
Do they do that every year
Yea right...which Team are you deploying with? According to your profile you're a SEAL. Which platoon are you with?
Classic Navy SEAL shit right here! Thanks for posting the vid!
And they do this every year? If so, I gotta try and make it down to Coronado in 2013.
Outstanding
No Friend, this was just me and my camcorder one day down by the naval training center, sorry.
Im sure we lost some of these great men in the war after 9/11. God bless them and there souls. “We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.” Winston Churchill
They sneaked into Pakistan and eliminated world public enemy number 1, and fed him to the ocean's bottom feeders. Not too shabby!
FYI: Darkings13 is BLOCKED from my KZread Channel page, and it was a pleasure to do so! Thanks for calling this fake to my attention.
Yeah! WHO?!! If someone is gonna click thumbs down, give a reason why and be constructive about it - don't just be a spoiler.
Yes. Most branches of the military have firepower demonstrations. Although, they are typically on base. So generally civilians can't watch. Airshows are the most popular exception to the rule.
Wrong. Those are Naval Aviators from right there at North Island. Those aircraft were HC and HS aircraft (Navy CSAR trained pilots).
@JuniorFanCirca1989 My mistake, I was exhausted and thought I was on a different video. There are current videos of them doing this, including a demonstration where towards the end they have a sniper hidden on the beach, he takes two shots and stands up (of course not where everyone EXPECTS him to be)
You too! Didn't mean to come off aggressive but this guy has been on other video pages falsely claiming to be a SEAL when he isn't. I like you appreciate the service of true veterans & hate someone being a poser. Take care.
Dam all they needed was the chinook extraction where the boat goes into the heli
There's probably enough shell casing on the floor to melt down and make a new tank.
I like how everyone on the internet knows all this classified intel when it comes to comments.
they are the best of the best of the best of the best of the best of the best of the best
The last guy going up the ladder from the water needs to do more pushups lol
This was filmed in 1999, we didn't have a budget problem back then.
Thank You, and Hello Canada, Our good friend to the North.
Let's not forget the helo pilots & crew members too, those guys rock (As do the boat dudes)! Let us also never forget that many of these great men were the first in after 9/11, and some of those present may very well have paid the ultimate price.
@Kopihucky That's far too long in my opinion. That was a big enough window to get taken down by an RPG or any AA weapon
these men have balls of steel.
I wouldn't be counting the seconds unless it was an actual Op... this is just for show... I'm sure they could do it a lot faster if it was necessary
RESPECT!
Any 21 year old SEALs today were born the year this video was made.
i have this theory that people who argue about who is the most elite military team on youtube, are the same people that get busted for dressing up as a general and impersonating an officer...
No sir. The seals have not performed for the public at Coronado since the 9/11 Attacks of 2001. I guess they're very much in demand these days.
Some bad ass amphib skill there.
We brought Arty with the same platform…..impresssive killz

these tactics are so coooouuuuul.
Reminds me of when I was kid from '94-'97 I went to Miramar and see the air shows there. San Diego FTW! And whoever disliked this probably was a terrorist.
I will when there are comments saying they are considerably better than every other Special Forces (._.)
do they still do this or was it just a special event.

Unfortunately, they haven't done this since the 09-11-01 Attacks - I suppose because the Navy can't spare the resources. It's a shame because if the SEALs were to ever hold this event again, I would re-record this in High Definition. Sequestration of today would also cause this event to never happen anyway.
Hello Saudi Arabia, Welcome from USA!
And then all of a sudden...live rounds for everybody!
Awesome!
In order to go to ST-6, a navy seal must undergo further training.
that was awesome
Hello
Assassination falls under the category or Anti-terrorism. But I did not know that they were the first ones looking for Bin Laden, thanks for telling me that.
I'm not going to lie, that's some really high speed shit!!!
8:02 “these tactics are soo good”
I heard this woman in the beginning say "OH MY GOD" when there was a explosion on the beach. What's the matter? Can't handle a explosion?
do they have charges in the sand or are they shooting live rounds at the sand? lol

what makes you think the osama mission was fake?
Being proud of our service members is our right. Mentioning only one of our guardians isn't the proper thing to do. Every member of our armed forces is a member of G-d's elite forces on earth. G-d Bless America
Don't wish, you have to want to become a SEAL. Don't just sit their and wait for it to come to you. You have to work for it and when the opportunity comes, reach out and grab it.
it's on the video
From Saudi Arabia welcome my America
@fashoful This was recorded on 07/04/2009.
Actually no, they have a bigger budget, but they don´t perform too good at the World SF games...
All armed forces of the world are great, and then there are the best of the best who just that...if it's SAS,SBS,Delta Force or Navy Seals ...or any more that I haven't named......all there 2 protect the free world from terrorists.A big thank you to them, keep them all safe.

Judging from the quality of the video, I wanna say late 90's. 1999 maybe? Also, it looks like it's about mid summer, so I'd say sometime in early July possibly. If it is, then it's probably the 4th, considering the size of the event.

Don't kill the moment by videotaping it. But thanks for doing that though
Man, what terrible marksmanship? They fired all those rounds directly at the crowd and hit nothing but air! I thought these guys were supposed to be elite!!!
bye bye choppers close call compilations next
SEALs are Tier 2, Delta is Tier 1. If you want to compare compare Delta to DEVGRU (AKA SEAL Team 6), not the SEALs. Or try the Army Special Forces (AKA Green Berets), with the SEALs, since they are also a Tier 2 unit. However the SEALs are more versitile. Delta and the Berets only do counter terrism and drug trafficing controle, the SEALs operate in S&D, Rescue, assassination, etx. Also the SEALs are experts in SEA, Air and Land (Hence the name), while the Army almost never gets wet.
Marines don't do that. Your comment is invalid.
That is badass.
Nice 👍
man that were there that day must have bcome navy seal now. ;@]
