S.E.A.L. Team 6 Hostage Rescue in Nigeria | October 2020

In October 2020, S.E.A.L. Team 6 - also known as DEVGRU - were called upon to conduct, from their staging area in Spain, a 3,000-kilometre hostage rescue operation in Nigeria. The operation not only saw the involvement of ST6 but also included up to 18 aircraft, among them KC-135 Stratotankers which conducted multiple air-to-air refuelling missions - in the darkness - to get the rescue force to and from the objective. This is the story of that operation.

Hi all, Just need to clarify what I say at 2:06. When I mention, "a further two Commandos flying out from Aalborg Denmark", I am not referring to Danish S.F. but rather MC-130J Commando II's. The two MC-130 Commando's, which flew out from R.A.F. Mildenhall with the Ospreys, were joined by an additional two MC-130 Commando's flying out from Aalborg, Denmark - bringing the total MC-130's committed to the rescue of Philip Walton to 4. No Danish Special Forces were involved in this Operation. Thanks, LfE

Americans must really take pride and be grateful to their top notch military. I am Iranian and was so angry when some of my fellow Iranians were abducted by pirates and they used to call their families while torturing the poor men just for their families to hear the screams and send the money (which they never had). And the Iranian government did absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing to save them and some eventually died. This makes my blood boil, but there is nothing I can do except tell Americans to be really grateful to your great military. Love your country and be proud of it.

I hate to say it, but the Iranian forces are too busy working on operations with terrorists. There's been some interaction between the Iranian forces where they directly engaged our Special Operations and were met with overwhelming violence of action. Three Iranian Quds Force were detained by an American Special Operations team in 2017 after the Quds attacked them in an undisclosed country. It's unknown what became of them, but it's my personal opinion that they probably were used as trades to free American citizens being held by Iranian forces. Many Americans don't like our Government, but we are proud of our military resources and capabilities.

Mind blowing how much went into planning this raid in only 4 days. The sheer weight of logistics, to rescue one guy, just massive amounts of resources for an end result that happened in less than 10 seconds. Can you imagine being that guy? Probably thinking he's gonna get killed any minute, then a bunch of SEALs just fucking come from nowhere and save you. Had to be an amazing feeling. 6 Osprey 4 C130J 5 air refueling tankers 2 C130 gunships directly from the U.S. 30 SEALs and all the support infrastructure for those assets. There were at least a couple thousand people directly involved in the logistics train for this. Wild.

*_We as Americans got so much done in the years 2017 - 2021. So many families got their loved ones home both alive & sadly dead, many from NK, MIA many decades. Looking at this period purely from a military POV, we can be proud as marines, military, Americans & all mankind who want the good of the other & to be just left alone to live peacefully. This was delivered for 4 years, old wars wound down, no new wars - May this record continue long into the future whoever is in the WH, no matter our political views, the time will come when we realize all we want is family. Our children & grankids don't need to finish our fights, although I am a proud country boy, a proud marine who will gladly work toward ending those wars that kicked off way back, no doubt in good faith for the most part. Teach your children to love peace to death & be prepared to fight for it, die for it even. That's not so bad with God on our side. God Bless America. Semper fi_*
